  1. The biggest constraint is the movement. Rolex movements are made in house and there is no aftermarket movement that matches the hand layout. The rep makers do a pretty good job with what they have to work with. The only Daytona's that are virtually indistinguishable are some of the vintage models and they are going to cost you between $2000 - $4500.
  2. Since the original one was sitting a little too low according to some here, the Clark should be about right.
  3. I have no answer to the problem but reading this was the best laugh I've had today. Thanks!
  4. Like most other movement series, including most Eta movements, they usually bump up the beat rate as the manufacturing abilities increase. It's only a matter of time.
  5. It fits perfectly. It's just a little taller. Clark's on the left.
  6. Yes the Clark crystal sits just the smallest bit taller, less than 1/4 mm. Just barely noticeable. I haven't installed it yet since I'm waiting for a few other things but the outside diameter is exactly the same. Looking horizontally through the dome of the Clark's, it looks much clearer though. I'll know more when I swap them out.
  7. Waiting for a Clark crystal so I'll let you know soon.
  8. I'm always amazed at the number of Rolexes is South Florida. But, I'm also convinced that quite a few are reps.
  9. Here's S/WG. Currently on a gen jubilee bracelet, not pictured. One of my favorites.
  10. RE: snapped stems! Would that be the reason that some movements come with the dial spacer? I don't recall if its the 2824 in particular, but I've collected several that have come from Eta movements.
  11. Dial and hands are a direct swap. I've only done it in a Datejust and it was an easy swap.

    Fake Comex Dial?

I politely sent him a link to a page that showed that dial as a known fake. He e-mailed me back saying he was aware of the link. He obviously doesn't care that it's fake.
  13. I'm not a fanatic about perfection but I think it's pretty damn good. Clean up the crown guards and vintage the bezel and dial, work on the case back a little and I think it looks great for the money. Sure it's not perfect, but it's nice solid watch for the money. Seems no reason the gen bezel assembly shouldn't work since the gen crystal fits. Currently waiting for gen spring bars to see how that works out. Love to hear other opinions......
  14. I'll believe it when I see it. They tried to start that policy back when the economy of the world was booming and there weren't enough movements being made. It was postponed by Swiss courts for several years to give other makers a chance to secure other sources. Now, with gen watch sales pretty much in the toilet, it makes you wonder what they'll do with all the movements they are making. Do you keep selling outside of Swatch Group, or do you start shutting down factories? My guess is that Eta movements will be available at least until the economies of the world have improved substantially. Probably many years from now.
  15. How can it "not last"? Epoxy's pretty hard stuff. Mine has been around for well over a year and other than just starting to yellow (or I like to think, age!) it's doing fine. Sure it won't be as good as a Watchmaterial one, but it's a whole lot cheaper. BTW, if you want the best non yellowing buy "clear casting resin". It's used to make nick knacks and furniture. Resin table or bar tops, etc. Problem is finding small enough packages. Maybe a craft store?
  16. If you really want to get fancy, get some lume powder to mix up in the catalyzed clear.
  17. Huge improvement! It will probably start to yellow in about 6 months, but it's still 100% better than the zit.
  18. Here's a gen: Here's mine. Still need to square off the inside corners a bit but I think I got the outside thickness about right:
  19. That's why I said "at least same as gen".
  20. Here's an eBay listing with gen, or at least same as gen, bezel assembly parts. I don't see why they wouldn't fit fine as long as the crystal size is the same as gen, which it supposedly is. Any expert opinions?? Gen bezel assembly
  21. Got one almost identical. Beautiful watch and it's amazing how the white gold shimmers in the sunlight. Enjoy it.
  22. The problem is finding one that will work on that model. Particularly if it's the CHS one. Rex on RepGeek will work on it but I didn't have particularly good luck with mine. It came back twice with the same problem as when I sent it to him. Finally I just gave up on it.
