  1. Give me a link to one and I'll try it.
  2. I'm not sure it's aimed at the 5-year old lego market.
  3. I'll pass on your comments to the article's author.
  4. My father in law 'borrowed' my white Fish about two years ago or so and has worn it every day since. I've not had the heart to ask for it back, so I may need a new one too. It's great to hear PT can still get them!
  5. Watches need year wheels so that when you set a perpetual calendar, it knows when Feb has 29 days. It's not that you need to know what year it is; it's that the watch needs to know.
  6. I had one of these. What made it better was a BOB for Breitling strap. The off-white is classier than if it was just pure white. @Ubi, the leather straps sold with Steelfishes and Evos are actually remarkably good, especially for rep straps.
  7. If people put them on canvas straps, leather isn't too much of a stretch:
  8. For everyone who thinks the iPad is a poor Netbook replacement, have a read of this: http://speirs.org/blog/2010/1/29/future-shock.html Fraser gets it.
  9. Ok, that's very odd. Let me try it ... I'm not seeing the same problem as you. is this true of every 10+MB PDF?
  10. No, it doesn't. It probably won't, either. Not unless something drastic happens to change both Adobe and Apple's minds on how they do business. Besides, how would you use it? There's no mouse-hover or key input.
  11. Are they DRMed PDFs? Do they have password protection? If the answer to these two is no, then yes, you can read them on an iPhone.
  12. No, it isn't. Flash Video (the current favourite version, not the VP6-based version) is based on AVC or MPEG4 video using the h264 video codec and the AAC audio codec. While Quicktime can deal with MPEG4 perfectly and has hardware H264 decoding on Macs, Flash isn't based on a Quicktime standard. You really need to study the difference between Containers and Codecs. Yes, given a decent multiplexer, you can demux FLV and remux it as Quicktime using the two streams, but they're in no way the same standard. You're saying a Pine tree is based on an Oak tree when the only thing they really have in common is that they're both trees. This is something I may know a little about, in case you couldn't already tell. So, Apple is a closed eco-system and ... Flash isn't? How's Flash on the Android? Or the Blackberry? Or the Palm Pre? Adobe Flash is as much single-vendor lock-in as iPhone OS, so you don't get to use that one, I'm afraid. Done. $20. 2.5 million sales worldwide by one year after it's made available for sale.
  13. You missed something. Tap the trackpad with two fingers next time.
  14. When did Apple last ship a single-button mouse? Every Mac of the last five years right clicks out of the box. Magic Mouse? Right Click. Mighty Mouse? Right Click. Laptops? All right-click. All macs of the last decade can take multi-button mice, too. The OS supports it. If you're going to pick on something at least make sure it's still valid.
  15. If you're fairly certain on this, would you consider a wager? I predict great success and would be willing to bet money it'll be a success based on any sensible metric you'd care to choose. That was my original thought as well, but if you think about it for more than 15 seconds, you'll see why it's 4:3. Why is it 4:3? Because it's also 3:4. Most of the rest of the arguments are missing the point a little. However, I'll pick on one for comedy value: Lack of Flash. Did you know that well over 90% of crashes on the Mac are caused by Adobe Flash?
  16. "If I'd asked my customers what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse." - Henry Ford The iPad is great. If you wanted a laptop without a keyboard, you're bound to be disappointed, but that's not what the iPad's about. You may not get it today, but you will soon. And yes, it's just a big iPod touch, and that's what's good about it. It's not a faster horse; it's a car and you don't know what one of those does yet.
  17. Loads, but nothing that would allow me to retain my anonymity. I was unfortunately too busy at CES to get any good Vegas photos. We'll see, maybe some of the shots will be ok.
  18. Please excuse the iPhone photo ...
  19. Woah, dude, there's a tiger in the bathroom.
  20. It's a $50 watch. Not a good $50 watch, though.
  21. I may be in Vegas (working CES Jan 7-10) and don't have a clue about what to expect. What is public transport like (I don't drive)? Are cheap hotels where I won't end up on CSI as "Victim" easy to get? Anyway, anyone in the area willing to offer me advice? Fancy a quick GTG over beer?
