  1. Great to see you've got a gen Navi!
  2. Graphite treatments should be considered temporary fixes. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, you should perhaps consider a different watch.
  3. ... and so you shall! I will only put reps in my 5. The first has to be my Ziggified, gen-dialled IWC GST. I don't wear it much, but I feel happier knowing it's in my drawer for when I need it. Click to embiggen Next is my UPO. It's got gen tube, crown, hands and aftermarket AR. Click to embiggen Third on my list is an MBW 1665. I forget what parts are gen, but it's been taken apart lots. Click to embiggen Fourth is a Breitling. Just added AR on this one. Click to embiggen The last watch on my list is tricky. It was nearly a 3717 or a GMT-Master, but I decided not to repeat manufacturers and went for a Radiomir. Again with the AR. Click to embiggen ... and for a bonus, here's a non-rep that would be near the top. Click to embiggen Has Bazz posted his yet?
  4. Lesson 2 is run. Lesson 1 is don't be there in the first place. (I may have studied a bit of martial arts in my youth)
  5. The moment you use a roll of coins to deck someone, it's a weapon. You have no defence at that point. If you're worried about being stopped and searched for weapons, maybe there's something fundamentally wrong with something else. Hopefully,. this is all conjecture rather than a plea for assistance in helping you commit a crime. Better than having laws that restrict what you can attempt legal action over. Those sorts of laws tended to favour the gentry. This law was repealed in 1863. The legal system isn't that stupid, thankfully.
  6. Not yet, but the police are bewildered as they can't even work out what law she thought they thought she was breaking. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8451877.stm Welcome to living a free country. You can sue anyone for anything, but it doesn't mean you stand a chance. Trust me, it's better this way.
  7. See, that's one of those things I don't understand. Would you rather have sex with a virgin or someone who knew what they were doing?
  8. You can sue for anything you want. I could sue you for offending me on the internet, even though it's plainly clear you haven't. And, just like the pikey, I would not get very far. So, it's not a sad state of affairs. It would be if he'd stood a chance of winning, but he didn't, so it's not.
  9. Tony Martin deserved jail time. He set a trap and laid in wait with an illegal firearm. He only got the murder reduced to manslaughter because he was certified a loony. Murdering people, even pikeys, is illegal. She made that bit about being told off up. Don't believe the hype. It's vague so there can be leeway. It's never cut-and-dried, but most cases never make it to court.
  10. The Omega site isn't too bad, but I've not found a watch site that I would hold up as an example of good website design. Ok, so I've worked in the web industry for over a decade and may be too picky, but still.
  11. This fear is completely unfounded. Courts in the UK are made of people, just like you or me. The law is very much on the side of the defender. Recent cases have all resulted in the householders either not being charged, being acquitted or not getting jail time. The police have even recently explicitly stated that defending yourself is a good thing and to have at it.
  12. At $29, that's a reasonable thing to do.
  13. Oh, Harry McCracken did this last year. http://technologizer.com/2009/03/31/hey-lauren-is-apples-17-inch-macbook-pro-expensive/ http://technologizer.com/2009/04/07/macbook-pro-expensive-round-two/ Still, you're not going to get anywhere close to the MacBook for under a grand. That's my point, even if it sounds like I'm saying Macs are priced identically - in my opinion, the 17" isn't a machine I'd ever consider, so I really don't care as much, but from what I can tell about the 15", that's where the best value is in a Mac Laptop.
  14. It's a TFT screen with only 1920x1080 pixels versus the Mac's superior LED-lit 1920x1200 one. It's over 2lbs heavier and only gets 1.5 hours of battery life compared to the Mac's 8. Nice try though, but the battery, power-management and weight are two of the expensive parts of the MacBook. You can't ignore them. Eight hours vs one and a half.
  15. Well, seeing as you've effectively admitted on the internet that you are carrying them with the intent to use them as a weapon, you're screwed. The thing is, you are carrying the coins with the intent to use them as a weapon, should the need arise. You are looking for a loophole to go around tooled up and that's precisely what the going equipped laws are there to catch. If you think you're going to get in a scrap, learn to throw a punch properly. You don't need to get a black belt in jeek kwon judo boxing, all you need is to learn how to punch properly. If you're going to get in any fight that goes on for more than a couple of punches, a roll of coins wouldn't have helped anyway.
  16. You don't celebrate evolution; you celebrate revolution. Apart from gamers like the Penny Arcade folk. http://www.penny-arcade.com/2006/3/6/ I don't care if people don't switch to Macs, but I do care about people insulting me for making an informed choice based on decades of professional experience. I also, as you may have noticed by my posting style, don't like people just making stuff up, or speaking uninformed drivel as gospel. There's opinion and there's fact, and you're entitled to your own opinion, but don't tell me stuff that is made up or guessed and pass it off as fact. For instance ... Don't hinge your entire argument on a guess. Go find me a laptop with the same spec as This base 17" MacBook Pro for under $1000. Don't come back with a plastic-cased piece of crap with less than 1920x1200 pixels (24-bit), integrated graphics and slower RAM. Find a machine that spec for under $1000 including full OS and warranty that weighs under 7lbs. Full 17" spec: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-17inch.html Good luck, I'm genuinely interested in the results.
  17. When was there ever this much interest over a Dell product release?
  18. It's worth nothing because you can't legally sell it. ... and who the hell would spend $4000 on making a fake? Oh, right. Us. Yeah, bang to rights.
