One thing strikes me: We're hearing the tale from one side. Admittedly it's the side most of us would find ourselves on, but I bet that if we were to hear the tale from the other side it'd be different. The jeweler is portrayed as a [censored], and he certainly sounds like one, but his hunch was right. I've never been called out and doubt it'd be the sort of thing that would happen as I never punch much above my weight.

My advice would be to get a decent strap. The stock strap is rubbish. I own the cheap Silix 111h and some expensive straps.

I have a 17cm wrist and wear a Fiddy and a 187 manhole cover. It's all to do with confidence. If you think your wrist is too small, buy a $100 PAM111h from Silix. If after a few days of wearing it you still think it's too big, you can flip it and probably lose only the postage on resale.

Easy mistake to make, to be honest. I'd guess they don't get as many Panerais as other watches. Yours may have been the first they've had in their hands.
