  1. I use 2 tools to resize omega bracelets, first the blue one below to start the pin moving then the red one to push it all the way through. I will agree that they are hard to get moving but it is not that bad, just go slowly. You could proberberly get away with out the second tool if you have a resizing block mallet and small drift or pin to tap the pin the rest of the way through.
  2. Lat night whilst reading Justasgoods post about his gilt dial project i was so impressed with what the sub dial looked like in the perpertual case i decided to make my own. The only case i had to use was my the first watch i built with my own dial (see signatur below) but was never that happy with it so i took it apart. So i had:- 1. Chronotac datejust type case 2. A Superluminover sub styled dial with the feet at 3min and 33mm and the hole to small for Eta hands 3. A Gruen watch with a brand new 2824 never worn that i got fo $20 of ebay 4. selection of hands 5. (Edited) forgot to add noobmarind datewheel overlay to get the date to line up hence the spacer for the dial. but 5. no movement holder 6. no dial feet 7. No idea and it was 11 pm At 02:00 i went to bed after baking a dial holder from an asian one, glueing a space to the dial and then dil dotting the dialk to the movement, reaming out the hands hole to fit, after the third attempt to assembel it and finding that the hour wheel was lifting off the drive due the to tight hole. Trimming the stem and getting it all to line up. So here are a few pics, i like it especialy next to my noob1680isnothing. I just wish that the C1 hands matched the C3 dial in day light Now with its bigger brother And the Lume shot, no charging up under a lamp just moved from day light to a dark room, niKon cool pix 3500 on auto with the flash off. Any coments are welcome, Thanks for reading
  3. Different movements can have the sub seconds in different places, i dont know the numbers for the omega works but an ETA 6497 has the running seconds in line with the crown and a 6498 has the running seconds at right angles to the crown like the FA Jones, has panerai all those years ago got hols of 6498s then we would proberbly had seconds at 6 Pams.
  4. Remove the back and have a look, who did you get it off what was its order number and what did you pay for it?
  5. I would keep the 427, just a clasical shape and dial, that is the one i would buy if you were selling them both!
  6. Welcome, Tony???? I wonderd what you would do with your spare time! LOL Please enjoy you time here and soak up the knowledge, if i can offer any advise it would be read, read and enjoy. We all look forward to seeing your reps and wrist checks.
  7. The hour markers are slightly fatter on the bottom one and the daytone font looks a bit pinker than the top but that could just be the light, is one white gold?
  8. I love the look in the perpetual case, would love to see the finished project though!
  9. Proberberly right about the ones with the plastic on!
  10. Good new i hope we helped in some way!
  11. Soooooooo true Piratedzeus, Just think of all the points we picked up for Angus on all the preprod pics he has shown, ok some times they chose not the listen but we told them. Alant A bond nato strap is a G1098 (The name of the accont that lists military holdings of certain types) strap that is normaly 18mm and grey, the bond strap is black with 2 grey stripes running down it, as worn by connery in Dr No. Any one got a photo? other wise have a look Al there are loads here abouts.
  12. I would say it was broken, is it new, if so ask Andrew to change it, if it is old do a movement swap., it could just need a clean inside but by the time a watch maker has done that you have surpassed the price of a new movement.
  13. Oh now where is Ubi when you need him, me not a scooby doo, 99.9% of the public wont either, is this the other half of your mates collection, the one with the 1/2 mill sub collection?
  14. About the rolex beat, you average bloke on the street thinks that rolex dont tick at all, an expert will pick you up because the crown guards are a nano meter to tall and it wont smell right. ETA replicas, no need they are made in the eta factory and disapear out the back door most proberbly, but seagul has made a very good copy of the 2892 (a more expencive ETA movement) I was going to point out that i had lots of asians but i dont any more i gave them away to people who came round and said Oh i like that so out of 22 watches rep and gen i only have 2 asians, but i would buy more with out a problem, infact i have 2 on the way from Silix.
  15. Reported, dodgy pics though, very hard to see the feet on the logo
  16. You know Jay could have made a fortune if he bought a load in and charged $10 and shipped them with the watch!
  17. Amplitude has done a 42mm. I would assume that it will fit the date window perfectly as the bace works for the coaxial works in the PO is 2892 so as long as you have an ETA PO it should be OK, By the way we all know that to assume will make an ass out of u and me so pleas dont spend any money on my say so.
  18. Hey Rolli, where are you in Germany, PM me I am in NRW
  19. Corgi On the date flip the asian will change just as quick but both change the wrong way. The smoothness of the sweep depends more on the beat of the movement and the back lash in the gears than the amount of Jewels. They are all made in a chinese factory and i would say that the asian can be put together well same as the Eta can be but together by a mong!
  20. One quick point, most asian 17j movements run at 21,600 beats per hour, all of the 2824/36/92s run at 28.800bph, so on an eta the second hands run smoother. ie it ticks 7 x a second, On a modern watch a rolex for instance this slower beat would be a tell that it was a rep. The noobmariner and some newer asian works also have a 28.800bph movement although still a 17j asian to solve this problem. Now a vintage rolex has a slower beat some as slow as 18000bpm 5 ticks a second, so unless you had a 2846 with the slower beat then an asian 21.600bpm 6 ticks a second, would look more athentic. These asian movements are used by many big names in watch making such as Citizen, Orient and not so big like invicta in main street sales outlets and they can be very good and keep very good time. I have an old seadweller that i have had for about 4 years now and it has consitantly ran at -10 seconds a day for 4 years on my wrist and on my winder when i am not wearing it, It has been through hell to say the least, swimming, fighting may i say it loving and still performs. I Started a thread a while ago on the reliability of the UPO light and did not get one bad report and that is an asian17 jewel. To give you some idea of how many types of asian works have a look here now out of that list i got a new noobmarina works for about
