Strangely enough, i have had the same problem, well it cam off easily enough, but getting it back on was i nightmare, it will turn though, but only if your name is some thing nordic and attend the worlds strongest man competition!
Take off the case back and put it in a tupperware box with a couple of bags of silica gel, you know the litte bags that come in the box with your new computor/tv/or waht ever. This will create a dry atmophere in the box and alow it to dry out fully.
Ah that would only mean it had an ETA base plate, but the removable hairspring pins show it has also an ETA balence and then a good chance of every thing else!
Old syle bridges but ETA, not right for the Fiddy it is fitted in as the fiddy had the new style bridges but a very good font engaving. it should be VERY reliable.
Its gona be one of these three as i will be out in the snow with a chain saw,
The ever popular Railmaster, The Noob i got off Kelster in Bits for 60 euros on wednesday ( i got it together but the quick change date is not working) and my second ever rep The seadweller from Cyprus, not missed a beat in 2 years.
I hand a shipment from josh get returned to CN due to addressing problems just before christmas, strange that the other package sent same day and place with same addrerss got here. Josh sorted me out and the resent package arrived today. Must get sme photos done and post them, A 2006 GMTII and a daydate (was suposed to be my mums xmas pressy but it will be delivered by the easter bunny now).
Do a bit of research and you will find that the general comcensus is that the colour does not matter and you will also find that the chances of having any thing in you rep that has ever even visited switzerland is very remote. However i have a nicle movement in my railmaster, Joshes railmaster and the finish is quite good in fact very good, generaly the gold coloured ones dont look to have the best finish. Apart from finish they are all Chiss/swinese.
There is nothing wrong with calling it synthetic saphire as long as it is, i may be wrong but was there not a re-issue of the 212 with saphire???, i am not sure which dealer it was from either. We are looking at different watches here, some with asian works Seagull 172?, Asian 7750 and swiss 7750, it could be that one of them has synthetic saphire for real?
I realy would love to see Ziggys break down of this, if all the parts fit from one to the other it would tell us some thing, maybe like it was made on the same tooling. What will happen when ETA stop selling out side the swatch group? well if this is made on the same tooling then it will be bad, because then the movements will have to leave the factory by and even smaller back door (and i am not reffering to a scean from Pulp fiction), but if it is from different tooling and the quality is good then we can breathe easily again. I am not an ETA snob as i have said before it is just that the micro aduster maces them so easy to regulate.
It is a shame that River has removed the pictures as we could do witha couple of shaots so that we can try to make comparisons, i dont supose that any one has any that they saved or took themselfs?
Non of them but i can well belive Big Tony saying it, Cant wait for series 7!
It was actualy a canadian writer called Yeaves Lavaigne as a title for a book about a type of bikers.
I expect that he had spent quite a while reading this thread and getting down heartened, but still the question has not been answered but the plot thickend with Ziggys bit about the 2892 and blued screws! Who knows a prefer to think about the base design rather that where it was assembled, but so far i have had luck i think.
Just so that you are aware, i doupt you will ever see a real SWISS movement in a rep, they are all made in china, even the ones in the GENs! just that they (in the Gens) are assembled in the land of cheese and are therefore swiss. Be confident if it is a Chiss or swinese EAT it should be a fantastic movement. Welcome to the forum and please dont let the pesimistic tone in this thread put you off this great hobby!
