Great reaserch there mate, I assume that the different styles that rolex made these was not an intentional difference but just a different machine tool I am wondering if it would be possible to do similar on my mini lathe with an indexing plate and gear cutting set up

I would not say that the gen one I have is flat on top. Can you offer an alternative within the (already expensive price) for a better pearl?

Then i would say the cluch is slipping, cant remember how it looks on a 1570 or whether it can be fixed by cleaning but normaly so. way to tell is the 1570 is a direct drive seconds, the drive for the seconds comes direct from the 3rd wheel in the movement, the hours and min run via a clutch mech that alow you to set the time, if the clutch is stlipping then there is no drive to the hands except the seconds (which does not run via the clutch), the very easy time setting is like putting a car in gear and being able to push it down the street with out the engine turning over.

Comparing them to the gen sub hands Most of the metal surrounds just look to fat an the point too long

To be honest frank non of the handsets on his site look any good to me, the merc star looks to fat and the point to long and the metal suround to fat

More than likely the canonpin slipping, when you go to the hend set position does it feel very easy to set the time ?

you cant swap a 2824 for a 2836 as the day date mech sets the stem lower in the movement 2824 = 2892 good 2836 = 2893 good 2836 = 2846 good
