No factory visits. And although there are multiple buildings here with the logo on the roof some look just like block of run down apartments. It made me think of the owned subsidized housing for miners bit the apartments looked worse. On the whole Biel disappoints there is not one rolly AD I could find in the whole town and the shops I did find like omega were not what you would expect. The whole town has a run down feel to it with what looks like a large Turkish ??? South eastern Europe population.
Many of the Rolex buildings have the logo on the roof but then on the gates below have different company names as if the building is let out to another firm which may be the case since the new production facility has opened. If any one has thought of coming here to see where it began prepared to be disappointed unless you have a factory visit planed.
Nice to see. And to be honest there are proberbly many people out there who like Pam's style but just could not get on with the size. And the 40mm Pam's were not exactly common were they
To be honest without some decent photos and a good description of what has been done and why I fail to see how 3 jewels on one jewel can reduce the friction of 4 gears when a minimum of 8 would be required ( assuming none of the gears operate co-axialy) to make this any more than reducing the friction of one gear in order for the movement to work in one axis.
Mine is an mbw 1680 and I still don't think I see enough of the min markers even after I opened it a bit on the lathe. It is not the dial but the case.
Questioned on the crown as you stated 702 in the original post
Did not say the pearl is wrong just it would be nicer to match the dial patina.
Looking good Pete, i especialy like the dial where you can see more of the minute index marks. one of the points that i dont like about my MBW 1680 rep, a different tinted pearl would look better i think. Is that not a 703 crown Pete?
Is the gen dial actually white in real life. This may be like the white brietling super ocean which is not at all white
The lighting in the qc pic may not be good but I would go and find a gen and see what it's real color is
I think you would need a different dial as the seconds should be in a different position also I am not sure the the stem position would line up with the crown tube
All good advice above but the best bit is so spend some more time reading here. Every version of every watch will have been picked apart at some time. One of the biggest question wi be which dealer!
dont know about the dial and crown but the 2892 is a perfect swap for any seagul ST18, but personaly there is no need to swap them out as long as it is working
Looks like the date will change with the movement of the hour hand rather than the GMT???
Am i right in thnking that this has a jumping hour hand when you adjust it independantly?
Looks very much like the older ones i have seen, where all i had were problems with the top most hour wheel and slippage with the drive for the hour wheel, twinned with dial clearance below the dial for the hour wheel and above for the hands.
how are these looking are they any better
I have the ability to make my set up into a multi axis mill but using the gear cutting set up it would be possible to be consistant, i have a couple of spare old bezels at home so i may give it a go some time, I fully agree you went about this the right way and did not use the dremil, a fast cutting hand tool and a bezel would be a bad recipe.
