  2. the movement nazi - "No movement for you!" anyway - ok, i understand the el primero is a complicated movement and yes, ok were not going to get 36000bph But seriously why is it so difficult to create new movements with different dial spacing or seconds at 3? I mean, just cause there is no copy, with what they are doing anyway with copies and modifications, how hard is it to just make a custom movement from basically scratch? or from a kit to start like the more complicated watchmakers do. I guess, you would have the problem of parts? We could have like the Jos Nana Calibre 666 or the EL Calibre 1-900-pimpster
  3. i think she is on drugs or at least drinking too much before the shows
  4. There is no such thing as a free market - except maybe for ebay. Markets are manipulated by all the players, gov't business ect ect Further - for a free market you must hvae KNOWLEDGE everyone forgets that. Without knowledge you might as well have people shitting in the wind.
  5. Funny enough i have never actually measured my wrist. But on stainless steel bands, i always have to remove 2 links. I use these stands also for my wife's watches. She has TINY TINY wrists. i can't even get her watches around stand number unless they are partially undone
  6. Well, as many of you will have noticed, i use watch stands in my photos and on my watch display. I have tried a few different types now and have come across one that is far superior then any of the others. So i have put together a little review. These stands i have gotten all from the same store on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/FindingKing They have over 150,000 feedback on ebay - is that rediculous or what needless to say, good experiences. The stands have come in packs of 3, 4 and 6 all ranging from 10-20 dollars shipped. Let me introduce you to the crowd - i have 2 acrylic and 1 metal/ soft black feltish material. Here are they from the side. You may already be noticing there are some advantages to each design. - The 2 major factors in evaluation are 1. How well does it support/ hold the watch and 2. how well does it support itself - i.e. does it tip over. As most of us have very large watches my comments will mainly focus on those. First - This first stand, is first, because it was the first one i recieved All of my "headshot" watch photos were taken with these stands. Their big upside is they come in different heights which can make for a really cool display. You will have noticed them in the "family" pictures i take with several watches. However, the downside to these stands is 2 fold. While they support heavy thick leather banded watches quite well - because they don't "slide around" as much as a stainless steel band, they do not support the stainless well at all. in fact you have to use the back piece and log it with the buckle in order toget the watches to stay up at the correct angle. With some playing though i was able to do some good things with these stands for photos. The smaller and less heavy watches do fit better. This stand though has a very small base. For such large and heavy watches like PAM it just begs to be tipped over. Don't bump your table or shelf where these are standing. Additionally, i have scuffed a few stainless bands trying to make this stand work. there is a sharp plastic surface that comes into contact with large SS bands, like on this PO Finally the plastic puts tension on the band in order to keep the watch up. However, when i have used these stands for my wife's pam, which has a small strap, over time the plastic molded to that size. This is of course good and bad. It fits like a glove, but it won't fit anything else anymore. Stand 2 - orderd the same time as stand 1 but recieved later. I'm not going to say alot about this stand because it is very limited in useability. It is very firm hard plastic. Almost no large watch can fit on there because of the size of the hold cut for the band to go around. This stand is very good for small and womens watches such as datejust and small pateks The stand has a very wide base and is very stable and not succeptible to tipping. Because of the rigid plastic only watches of a certain size will fit - this stand is not practical to handle a collection with variety Finally - the good one. - i recieved this last. This stand is GREAT. First, the base of it is weighted, and weighted well, it very easily handles the awkwardness of this 45mm PO with very little tip factor. the watch holding part is made of a metal material that is bendable but maintains a nice resistance to hold the watch firmly in place. It is covered with a nice soft velvaty material which does not damage the watch even better the post connecting it to the base is also covered with that nice material. Because of the metal holder section these stands can be adjusted to fit any size watch. because of the stiffness of the metal, you can adjust the watch to hold in any position at any angle. These are by far my favorite and are the only ones i will buy from now on. They are currently being offered in white leather on that ebay site. One of the reasons i have gotten these stands is that my cheapy watch box doesn't hold Very large watches next to each other without them touching. So i had to find someplace else to move my big watches. I really love these stands and feel very comfortable leaving my precious on them Hope this was helpful to you Enjoy!!! PHOBAND
  7. If i try real hard i could do it in this thread

  9. i have a project i'm working on, need custom cut glass does anyone here possess those talents?
  10. There are a bunch of people who have made miraculous recoveries on this show - going from fine to in bed to near death, do up and helping again all in 24 hours aaachhoooTony
  11. I thought i read about a product they had out for awhile. even if it was december 2006 Apple didn't register it and cisco was in the market
  12. Your mixing a few things together - First cisco did own the company and therefore owned the mark to the extent that the company had trademark rights - there is no question about that. Again, - ok, here, this article explains it well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trademark#Mai..._and_genericide you can establish a trademark without registering by actually using it in the market place, the rights accrue whererver you sell and market it. So, there are 2 lines of argument that cisco makes 1. We have a registered trademark that is being enfringed upon. 2. Even if you decide our registration is defective, We have trademark rights that have developed because of our actua sale and marketing of an IPhone product which we have been doing since 2005 it will be a very interestign case that will never get resolved by a court. There is exposure on both sides to big legal fees
  13. That box thing is pretty f-in stupid But, lets forget about any of that. If i started selling a product called iphone in 2005 (before apple offered one) then, i have trademark rights in Iphone in the US anywhere i sell/ market the product. So, even if the registration is cancelled, they still have a case because they had a real product out and advertised in 2005. If Apple's been working on this phone for 3 yrs. they should have made a registration then, once cisco's was cancelled, then apple's would have been superior and win. Do i think this is al about cisco getting a "cut" of Apple's iphone? yes, do i think that cisco has legitamit rights to the name - i think Apple threw the whole thing out on the table and said - Sue me, I dare you,
  14. did someone say pooper scooper? Well, clearly thats what apple lawyers told jobs - i.e. they don't have a case to stand on . i wonder how fired the person responcible for renewing the IPhone mark is. By the way - the Registration of the mark only creates a rebuttable presumption that there is a trademark in existance. Problem is, even if their registration is cancelled, it does not mean that they don't have a trademark right. They still have been offering a product under that name and have trademark rights we'll see
  15. i wish i had the balls to take out the movement i think i could paint the lume on a sandwhich dial Great Jorb
  16. Slay - i was concered about your comments on the previous thread, but i couldn't tell if you were trying to be funny or not. However, it appears you have issues relating to jewish persons. You may even think you don't. But, you do. If you want to educate yourself as to your own biases then i encourage that. I can recomend this organization http://www.adl.org/. However, as i did with whomever the other person was who was over the line i am sorry to say that i have added you to my blocked list. Pugs - i can't remember who is arguing what at this point - But - for those of us who travel often having your secretary and or other appointment maker have instant access to the calender and be able to ad and change things on the fly is critical. Meeting invites basically, i couldn't live without push email and push calendar. i totally organize my life by it. If i don't make notes on my calender, it doesn't get done. And - i have to say, the new blackjack has those features and high speed datat -its very very impressive. I wouldn't trade in even if i could do without the push services, i wouldn't trade in the high speed Now - walking around with one before they come out - that is a different story - Ken cha chem
  17. yeah yeah - most of it comes from the movie - the pirates of silicon valley - i highly recomend it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168122/ from wikipedia * Steve Wozniak, on his personal website, woz.org [2] has commented on the film through a series of replies to emails from fans [3]. On the issue of accuracy, Wozniak states: The personalities and incidents are accurate in the sense that they all occurred but they are often with the wrong parties (Bill Fernandez, Apple employee #4, was with me and the computer that burned up in 1970) and at the wrong dates (when John Sculley joined, he had to redirect attention from the Apple III, not the Mac, to the Apple II ) and places (Homebrew Computer Club was at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) ... the personalities were very accurately portrayed [4]. iphone is cut and dry - its ciscos, what is not clear is the negotiation and what will end up happening. but, there is no reasonable argument that can be made to say that apple has any rights to the name.
  18. very nice, i got the non-diamonds for my wife and my mother and her business partner just ordered this one - its a great watch!
  19. Cmon - do you think that I should be able to use the term New Coke, just cause the drink sucked? - what does it matter if their prodcuts were mediocre - they had the rights to the name before anyone concieved an ipod or the new iLifestyle. and they have been using it ever since Lets do the typical moral dillema turn around change the players to microsoft and mozilla. - Microsoft came in with this new technology - a web browser - THey are calling it Firefox but- Mozilla has a web browser called firefox, but its a crappy browser anyway and microsoft rocked the world with their announcment I think that mozilla is just posturing and wants a piece of microsofts action. They are both phones they have the same name one company has been using it since 1996 the other said - screw you exlax its ours now - what are you gonna do huh? go cry to your mommy? - PUgs - ok, ok ok, Steve jobs is only an ass and not a criminal - it is well established that he was an ass right? isn't that why he got kicked out in the first place. not that there is anything wrong with asses - it takes alot of asses running over people to do great things in the world.
  20. very nice - yeah white balance - notice how the color of the background changes. can you take a photo of your setup?
  21. Ken i'd pay that in a heartbeat - in fact, i could probably sell 2 dozen of them to people here. But i really have a hard time believing its real. Are you solid on this guy? and or, can you get a sample?
