  1. You can do it, but it requires moving the plate which re-aligns the subdials. This is a risk as the extra plate is made to the same standard as the asian 7750 movement, which seems to be hit or miss. If you have a good watchmaker who will clean up the extra gears this may make it somewhat more reliable. It is a shame, because cosmetically that watch is very spot on. -O
  2. ETA only for a little while longer. According to persons in the Chopard boutique in Bal Harbour, all of their movements will become manufacture grade in house over the next couple of years. -O
  3. Could never drop a grand on a quartz watch. Ever. -O
  4. Oh No!!! Will Robinson is DEAD!!!!! No really- after reading this thread through, it is clear that it was appropriate to raise the red flag when someone with 3 posts is asking where they hid the gold. Beyond that, if he is genuine in his desire to track down MBW, he can 1) look around 2) Stick around long enough and contibute enough to become a trusted member of the community. If he is a shill, he'll be flushed out as such. There are names on this board that I can look at and instantly recognize, and have no compunction about sharing info with, but with dealers being hauled off in shackles and shot executioner style without a trial in the public square, we all need to be a little judicious. -O
  5. I cant see myself parting with my Swiss 7753 powered Santos 100 Chrono. I've only had it a few weeks, but it has grown on me ALOT- getting more wrist time than a couple of my gens. I have a Swiss 7753 Pam 196 which I keep going back and forth about- I really love the watch, but I don't seem to wear it as much as I once did. Not sure if I will keep or not. The other reps can all be bought if I am in the right mood... -O
  6. Sunday May 6th, and still there yesterday... -O
  7. Not going to elaborate on the location more than I have. you got the street- now you have about 5 blocks to look at. Not tryiing to cause the gentleman any problems. -O
  8. Danger! Danger! Danger Will Robinson!!!! 3 posts? c'mon. -O
  9. Doubtful they could EVER do a rep of this- even if they managed to do the case right- there's just too much they could not do with the movement- rattrapante for one, and the power reserve indicator at 6pm- Beautiful watch though- any indication of the cost?? -O
  10. Anyone who deals with hustlers knows, the first thing they buy if they come into some cash is a watch and a daimond ring. This way they know that if they fall into hard times they have two things they can always hock. Rolex seems to be the industry favorite here, having had the misfortune of running into some of these characters as I built my business. -O
  11. Perhapsi I am slow. I have gen of this wach, How can you ell i t is a reop -o
  12. Congratulations- beautiful watch!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT RELUME IT!!!!! IT IS PEFECT JUST THE WAY IT IS!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE_ DONT MOD GEN WATCHES_ NOTHING GOOD WILL COME OF IT!!!!! Ok, Im calm now. -O
  13. OK- being able to get 135thousand dollars is one thing- but getting 135thousand dollars to drop on a watch, rather than say pay off your mortgage, your student loans, etc... is another. You need to have a pretty fair level of disposable income to drop that kind of dosh on a watch. -O
  14. Oh, and one last thing... The genuine of this watch costs 135,000 dollars- so unless you are Elton John, anyone who knows watches will call it instantly. This would not disuade me from purchasing it though- 'cos its cool. -O
  15. Now I have not bought a Tourbillon (yet), but having just dropped close to a grand on a rep, I feel somewhat qualified to comment. 1) The rep will never, ever be as good as the gen. This rep's quality appears better than most. 2) You will not buy a gen Tourbillon for under a grand (I mean a gen Marque, not gen tourbillon) 3) If you really love the watch, and this is a migthy fine looking timepiece, you should get it. You wont see yourself coming and going, and based upon the quality of this movement, I would suspect that if you had it serviced, you will be able to enjoy it for a long time. The perceived value of a rep watch to it's wearer is far more important than the actual monetary value. Outside of our little community, these heavily modded and swiss movement reps have little or no actual value. I could be wearing the most plain Rolex in the world, take it to a pawnshop and get some cash. Not so with these reps. However- the reps we collect here are a hobby for us- so the value goes beyond the material worth. A baseball card is printed on paper (so is money for that matter)- so what is it really worth. If you like the watch, and there do not seem to be any major downsides- get it. I would. Post pics when you get it. -O
  16. seems to me that the monitor could only draw visitors from this site to theirs, increasing their traffic and therefore their revenues- If their were a link making it easy for evildoers to cause problems, I could understand- but the monitor could only have positive effects. While no explanation is due, one would offer a certain level of reversing what could only be construed as antisocial behaviour. A they say, no good deed.... Whatever. -O
  17. So yesterday was a glorious day in Philadelphia, so my wife and I went into center city- and wound up on South Street- grabbed a felafel, and did some window shopping. I came across a shop which had, in it's window mind you, about 2 dozen reps- and I am not talking about Canal St rubbish- but the higher end stuff (Including the Santos 100 chrono I just got WITH the Swiss movement). I needed to go in to see what was up- and in the shop he had no less than 50 or 60 higher end reps- new Ferrari, Pan, etc... The gentleman in the store was kind of coy about the origin of the watches, and it was clear he was not representing them as gen- at least not to me. His prices were bordering on absurd (1600 for the Cartier), but there was one good aspect- I was able to look at some of the purchases I had been considering first hand- which was a new experience for me. I got to hold a new rep Big Bang for instance. Now I don't see how this shop is going to survive- but what a blast it was to be able to look at all of the Reps I see posted here without having to buy first-regret later. PLEASE do not ask me for the address- I don't want to cause this guy any trouble. You have an idea where it is if you want to look. Hope you are all having a good weekend. -O
  18. Strap that came with it, while better than most rep straps, still kind of sucks- too thin. The strap was attachd with a pressure fit push pins with ends milled to look like screws. The other end of the watch case is threaded, so I wonder if OEM screws might fit. No way to get them though- I tried. WHile I was able to finagle the strap, they would probably want the watch to get me screws (honestly, why would I want them?) -O
  19. Rmoved some oldies- there is a wrist shot posted on the other thread. Take a look... -O
  20. FINALLY!!!! Someone with hairier arms than me!!! Yay! Oh- and by the way, enjoy your watch- She's a beaut. -O
  21. It appears to, however with the white dial it is harder to tell for sure. Does not say on their website or in their catalogue. -O
