  1. Can't wait to see it all put together. It'll get me kick started on my project, thanks for the updates. I'm curious to see which case you used.
  2. That strap in white looks terrible. I also don't know if I'm a fan of the bracelet clasp connected to the rubber, just looks awkward to me. If there was a custom deployment on there though, now were talkin!
  3. Congrats on finally getting the result you wanted. It's always nice when your hard work and in your case 2 years of persistence pays off. That is hands down the best vintage daytona project I've seen, and your pictures really compliment the watch. Wear it in good health, building something like that provides an entirely different type of satisfaction than "just" buying a gen.
  4. I think I'm going to buy one of their washing machines now...
  5. Go for the Skyland, it's a big fat chunky watch and the rep is as near as gen as you can get. If you want the perfect one, get a V2 relumed and a gen bracelet. It might cost a bit but it will be virtually indistinguishable from the gen.
  6. The more pics I see, the more I want an AP diver. So which one gets the most wrist time??
  7. The crooked markers would bother me too and I don't think that's just the crystal. I've owned one before and had the same issue with those markers being crooked. I really don't think +8 seconds is good at all. Maybe ask for another watch or to regulate this one.
  8. I know that fxrandy made some custom overlays, but I also know they are near impossible to find. He only has one left and he's keeping it.
  9. Thanks for the great review, this watch is still growing on me. I think once they have the bracelet for it I'll take the dive.
  10. I think it looks good and really makes the red pop out of the dial too.
  11. Thanks for the information, I'm still thinking that an old mbw with the correct placement of the he valve is the way to go. Now I'll just have to wait for one to pop up. Also, I might have been able to find a gen case for the project, I'll know by the end of next week. I realize it'll costs a couple thousand but then I'd literally have all gen parts if I got a 1570 as well.
  12. I have been researching parts to use for my 1665 Great White build for a while now. I sourced a good number of gen parts including a luminova service dial, service crystal, service insert, and luminova hands. Accuracy is a big concern of mine with this project because I'm basically building my grail from scratch. My goal is to build a 1665 that looks like it just came back from the service center. 1. The most pressing question at the moment is what case to get. Currently I am trying to source a gen 1665 case which is proving to be quite difficult, people don't just have spares sitting around. So unless one of these pops up out of nowhere it's looking like I need to get a rep case. I've narrowed it down to these choices... old MBW- this is what I am really trying to find right now. I've heard that the old ones have the correct HE valve placement but I haven't seen any with this so far and have seen multiple "old mbw cases" with centered HE valves. This is a defining characteristic of my project because the Great Whites feature the slightly raised HE valve. However, in my "serviced look" case it is possible that a DRSD dial could have been swapped out with my white service dial (not really the best idea but it has potential). Also, apparently the mbw can take a 1570 but the movement must be filed down (something I'd hesitate to do) yuki- a good bit more expensive than the mbw, and I'm not sure if the additional costs is justified. Pros- can take a 1570 (which is an option on the table) and I can create my own serial number. Cons- same HE valve issue. I'm not sure that this puts me in much of a better position than having the mbw, but please correct me if I'm wrong. ndt- $1050, ouch. Comes with "rolex" crown, any idea if that's actually the case? Can engrave customer serial. CGs need to be shaved and lug holes modded . I can't find any pictures of the HE valve but at $1050 it better be correct. I don't even know if I'd consider this option unless it's literally 99% the same as gen after modding. 2. My second issue will depend on which case/movement I use. If I get a 1570 I'll just use my hands but if I use an eta what hands should I get for it? Yuki's look great, mbws seem a bit off and so do clarks. I have heard of tudor hands being used on an eta, would that be worth my time over yuki/other source? Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate any advice offered.
  13. I wonder if you could send this into Rolex for service. I would think that there's almost no way they could distinguish it apart from the case, and if somebody denied that it was authentic one of their co-workers would probably laugh in their face and ask why anyone would do that/if it's possible? And if you have to have any parts replaced from "wear and tear" Rolex would offer them at lower prices than you can normally source. In the end probably not worth it but it is interesting to think about. I've read something the other day about someone who bought a gen sub, swapped the bracelet for a rep, and Rolex replaced it for them and charged something like $500. I've also heard of the same thing but swapping out a dial. How badly do you want a gen case?!?!
  14. Two very nice watches you have there. That Proprof looks really good and the finish just looks amazing. Enjoy your new watch!
  15. I can't wait for this thing to come out. I really hope they do it right though, otherwise I'm going to have to break the bank and go gen.
  16. I've heard of some ADs asking for a serial number of the watch its going to go on but I think you could easily get around that. These prices are crazy I'll just buy used bracelets and polish them up a bit.
  17. These havent been repped yet. Breitling just came out with these new styles for the skyland avenger that they now just call the avenger. I would think that reps of these would be out in a matter of months because all they have to do are make the new dial styles. Hope that helps!
  18. Looks great you really have a perfect rep of a sub. Saved yourself a couple g's nice job.
  19. So is the first video what happens with a basic service, and the second video combined with the first what happens when you get a complete overhaul? My breit is in great condition, but I would like the movement serviced pretty well. Any info would be nice, thanks guys.
  20. I'm thinking about doing something similar. I think I am only going to do the dial/hands and get a gen crystal. The AR on the gen is a color/colors that I haven't seen any aftermarket replicate. It almost has a shade of purple/pink that I think is a major characteristic of the watch. Although Chiefs might be a better AR coating for actually doing the job, I almost feel like its not right to do to a PO. Maybe that's something to consider if you ever decide to go through with the AR. I love what you have done here, any regrets? Right now I really can't decide if I should just save up for a gen or spend about 700 (including the base watch) on a really great rep then get a gen later on when I am out of college. A question I have is (and I am sure you are biased but humor me) do you think its worth it to spend $222 dollars on a gen dial or have Vac relume my dial for $120? I am getting gen hands no matter what which is why I am leaning towards buying a gen dial so the lume will match perfectly, along with the other bonuses that you have talked about earlier. Does the gen dial appear more black and less gray than the old dial? It appears so in the pictures but I didn't know if it was just me. Thanks for the help, and great job again.
  21. I know what you did!!!! You took one of the hour markers from like a sub/seadweller and you put it on as the pearl on the PO!! Muahahah
