  1. Did you get the mechanical issue sorted out?
  2. Yup, I've also had that problem, but this time it King's site, not my bank. Turns out, it doesn't matter, because the watch I wanted from her site is the GMT II ceramic, and just snagged one from Andrew.
  3. I go through all the motions for CC payment on King's site, only to get to the last step and get a Failure notice saying that there is an error regarding 3-D Secure authentication of cardholder. I have had three people enter the same information and every time it is rejected. Anyone have this problem?
  4. Yeah, I'm also going freaki'n nuts waiting for new stock to come in. I very much like the watch, but I wouldn't be this stoked over the thing if it wasn't so accurate. I've been drooling on AD display cases for many months now, flirting with this watch as the AD salespeople think they're making a sale. When I was in Las Vegas last month I must have visited a dozen rolex retailers, trying on this watch and comparing it to the gen sub on my wrist. To my taste, it just makes the current sub and gmt models look obsolete with their less substantial and thinner bezel inserts, small hour markers and hands, hollow center links, and cheaper clasps, not to mention the case size and angular transition from lug to crown guards. The only thing I don't like about it is that Rolex made the bracelet thinner. Josh says he is expecting new inventory with "incorrect" hand stack and also some with asian movements, but he doesn't know when he is getting them.
  5. Beautiful watch and very nice photos to show its true beauty.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to do that review. It's nicer looking than I would have expected.
  7. The gen is angled ever so slightly (I have one), but the new breed of sub reps I'm referring to is angled significantly more, to the point that the dial is a whole lot smaller. I don't have to compare them side-by-side to notice, it just jumps out at me. But I agree, the seemless transition from the crystal edge to bezel is very nice, and wanting in most reps. It's always about fixing one flaw and creating more.
  8. One thing: most if not all of the models pictured above as having a deeper rehaut also have a new flaw: the brushed metal ring that surrounds the dial, and which we use to base our perception of rehaut depth, is angled significantly inward. What this does is it reduces the size of the dial, forcing the hour markers closer together, and resulting in a cyclopse that looks too far to the right. I have both of the model types reviewed, and once I noticed this, it drove me crazy!
  9. I have one newer gen that has 93250 engraved on the first link and one that doesn't. I've found it hard to find definitive information on why this varies...
  10. Bruce79, thanks for taking the time and energy to create this fantastic step-by-step post. Your sub looks fantastic. The gen dial makes a world of difference.
  11. Usually a 4, sometimes a 5. I switch back and forth between my black ss sub and my blue tt sub, depending upon whether I feel like wearing gold or whether it goes with my work attire. Sometimes, on weekends, I'll wear my Cartier 21 Chronoscaph with black rubber strap or one of my Daytonas.
  12. Awesome, great to know!
  13. Not even nice for reps.
  14. I also have Paul's sub, which is a fine specimen. Don't know about the crystal, but you can usually get the back off with either electrical or duct tape, or one of those rubber jar-opener grippy things.
  15. Since Trusty doesn't indicate that he relumes the watches, you can assume it will be as dissapointing as most reps, pointed out here by other members. There is an exception to this lousy lume rule in reps. If you get a Rolex GMT Anniverary, Sub LV or Yachmaster with the maxi dial, there is enough luminous material on the hands and hour markers to glow comparably with genuines. My GMT 50th Anniv. w/ maxi dialfrom Josh glowed all night, as well if not better than my gen. '06 Sub.
  16. How much is this going to be, and when will it be available?
  17. As an owner of a gen, I'll say that if it is a rep, I cannot tell based on this picture.
  18. Ordered from respected dealer; shipping confirmed and thru Chinese Customs nearly 3 weeks ago, per EMS and USPS tracking, but no package. Dealer looked into it and says customs didn't snag it, the package is safe. Not sure why the delay, but anyone else experiencing this?
  19. The Diplomat now actually has a (renourished) beach, not that you need one with the great pool area. I've stayed there, it's a very nice hotel. SW Florida (TJGladeRaider's terrirory) has several nice resort hotels and is actually more central to those from Tampa to Miami than is Orlando.
  20. I'm in Ft. Lauderdale. I'm sorta limited to south of Palm Beach because my one-year-old and two-year-old keep me on a short leash these days.
  21. I have both a tt and ss gen submariner, as well as reps of each. The recent ss bracelets do not feel any bit different to me than the gen in terms of quality, and the ss rep bracelets have held up every bit as well as the gen to the abuse they get. In fact, I would have no problem replacing the ss band (once it is trashed) w/ a rep bracelet of the quality my reps have. Clearly, the gen tt bracelet has a different feel than the rep tt bracelet, but only because the gen has much more gold, making it noticeably heavier.
  22. First class act for a first class forum.
  23. I certainly hope I don't offend anyone, I'm merely trying to post a pretty picture. We all post things that are nice to look at, be it women, watches, landscapes, sports, or cars--that's why this board exists. Simple aesthetics; the appreciation of a handsome watch. And the occasional nice ass. _ Are you kidding me? You are an asset to this forum. I say keep up the good work; nobody has said they were offended.
  24. I purchased two tools made specifically for this purpose from TZTools.com: a fiberglass scratch brush pen to get out the deeper scratches in a brushed finish, and a very fine satin finish bar to restore the satin finish. Both are highly recommended from members of the various genuine Rolex forums.
  25. Thanks. I didn't see it on Silix's website or PT's photobucket. [censored]? Where did your friend get it, and why is it better?
