  1. Welcome, man. You're about to enter the greatest black hole there ever was. Say goodbye to a normal life! By the way, your avatar is the huggiest since Nanuq's. I don't know whether to be soothed by it or terrified.
  2. I own a ziggified PAM 212 and it's the watch of the hour at my house. It is truly beautiful. It is the only watch that will have the vintage 1950s structure that PAM enthusiasts like in addition to the contemporary dial display. It's the best merger of the two, if you're interested in that. The evo is great too, not doubt about it, either one is a solid choice.
  3. I share Phoband's enthusiasm for this piece. I hope one day to hear back from someone. I'm ready right now, heck I was ready yesterday to pull the trigger on a 45mm xxt open if they decide to do it.
  4. That's a ridiculous price for that model. Talk about a gouging. Any site that refers to an automatic movement as a "kinetic" (see their Jaeger listings) is pure bull. Buy from them if you want a good fleecing.
  5. I'm working on an hommage project and I think a Breguet casing would be quite nice for it. Does anyone know where I can source out a 42mm casing like the one on the 5827 Marine? Points in the right direction will win my highest esteem. here's a pic from Breguet's main site: god knows I wish they made a quality B rep along these lines, but I know at least that the case is out there. I've seen em before out and about but never could ask where the owners got them.
  6. No one knows how bad it is. I wish there was a better answer, but an educated guess... give it six months, and if the markets don't stabilize, don't make a purchase like this. If you can wait. Economists are still trying to figure out what the ripple looks like in the global financial markets, and that data won't be around for a few months. Then we'll know what's going on domestically, or at least with more certainty. good luck, it's a sweet ride. If you get this, you know you'll have to get the flat 6, if you don't already have one.
  7. I agree with Toad. Cars are not just conventional economic goods. A porsche is less than a practical vehicle, but it does fulfill other aspects of economic desire. The question is, does it satisfy your leisure/lifestyle/entertainment desires or would that be more adequately served by purchasing a more practical vehicle and getting a watch that does fulfill that desire. This is, of course, knowing nothing about your budget or lifestyle.
  8. great pics. Now I'm going to see if I can do one on a stone surface of some sort with a Ti watch. sorry you injured your back though. Get well soon.
  9. Wear a watch that you haven't worn in a while. Or buy a strap for a watch you haven't touched in a while. Sometimes that helps. It's a tough addiction man. There are ways to get around it though. Organize you watches, create a log for those you've owned and sold so you can track your collection, or start doing photography, taking pics of your watches. You'll find that you can consume your time with the pieces you already have if you get creative enough.
  10. I don't think you'll see one in the near future. There are several things to consider if you're considering this piece. 1. It has an in-house movement. The design is too exotic and unique for rep makers to replicate. It's not cost effective for them right now. 2. Any rep (at least right now) won't have the eight day power reserve that's on this watch. 3. As with any watch with an in-house movement (including Jaeger LeCoultre), if you're looking for accuracy, go for cosmetic accuracy. This means that you'll most likely want watches that have a solid caseback instead of a see-thru caseback. 4. There are varying levels of "accuracy" that I'm willing to stick to. If the timepiece looks nice and no one's going to see the caseback but myself, then go for it. You may see this Panerai get close to looking like the original except for the back, but then again, you'll have to deal with power reserve that isn't eight days more like 40 hours). 5. I like fantasy watches. If the piece is still good looking to you, dive in. It's about your comfort level. but to answer your original question, you aren't going to have much luck finding an accurate rep of this.
  11. Happy Holidays to all of you! You're all great! yours, kt

How much is this listed for? Nice rotor!
  13. I'm very sorry to hear this, but like the other peeps here have said, you're better off. Don't counter his negative energy and carelessness with a response to him. Invest that energy into your wife instead. I really hope you have a wonderful wedding, man.
  14. That's a gorgeous strap man. Well done. I disagree with our fellow members on the keeper. It's unique, and besides, the PAM is supposed to be a sport watch. Since you made it, it already has a rugged appeal. I get irritated when PAM lovers try to pretend that a watch like this is supposed to be worn under a suit. It should express an adventurous spirit, IMHO.
  15. I'd purchase one for sure.
  16. This is great information, friend. Thank you. Given my inexperience with professional photography, I will go with a reliable point and click camera with good resolution. Perhaps in time, I will evolve into a decent photographer. Again, many thanks. BTW Nice BBK AllergyDoc! and Nice Graham's as well to you and jchurch!
  17. I'd like to begin archiving my collection, and as part of the community, i'd like to start sharing photos of my own pieces, but alas, luddite that I am, I have no camera to do this deed. Any suggestions on a nice, reasonably priced camera that could get the job done?
  18. that watch is sexified, pug. the lume on that is laser quality. good choice.
  19. ok in addition to wanting this watch in the 45mm xxt size, I'm throwing down the gauntlet. Seriously, if any rep maker can do this piece, I'd pay a padload for it:
  20. I think the blue with steel has a nice feel to it. UN has always done well with it's blue/steel combos. I'd wish for a Sonata rep even if it was a fantasy, but who'd listen? Q: is the link on the rubber strap placed over the rubber or is it connected to it like a link? I couldn't tell. nice to see UN in the works.
  21. has anyone seen the smaller version of the u-boat thousand feet around. As much as I'd like to wear the 50mm beast, it's too much watch for me. Do any of you have the same itch, or am I flying solo on this interest?
  22. Holy Mackerel. And that's considering I'm an agnostic. Holy, mother of... wow.
  23. I have to say you have my utmost respect for trying this. I have no idea why Accutron doesn't capitalize on making a larger watch, and hence, a larger watch case, for this new generation. Making a large Astronaut watch is a great idea. Best of luck. Truly.
  24. again, dealers, I'm begging. This was made for a wide audience. My wishlist has this at number 2: 1. Zenith Chronomaster XXT 45mm with manual wind 2. Ferrari California 3. IWC Vintage Ingenieur Jubilee Edition throw me a bone on any of these! kt
