  1. you might try looking at the collectors listed on this site. It depends on what model you're looking for. No rep will be able to get close to the look of the movement, so you'll want to go as simple as possible. I've seen a few of the simple versions that look quite nice, like the saxony or the R. Lange. Previously, a seagull-powered chronograph looked pretty nice as well.
  2. I'd like to say though, that many of you have kept the torch running well. I'm not on here as often as I wish I could be, but when I am, there is still a great deal of kindness and sincerity around the love of horology that abounds here. A tribute to those who started this site and continue to keep it alive.
  3. my goodness I've been waiting for this. Would it be difficult to put in black pushers? I hope this isn't a prank or one of those watches that appears and then disappears on the site.
  4. Great advice, friends. I appreciate this. I hope I can take a few more days and catch as many museums as possible.
  5. Hello, peeps. I'm going to visit Switzerland during the time that Baselworld is taking place. I have a conference to attend in Fribourg on Friday, but I'd really appreciate any advice anyone would have on what a watch lover should visit while in that general area. I've heard that Baselworld is a bit of a letdown, so if anyone has alternative suggestions, I would be very much appreciative of the advice.
  6. I just needed to thank Andrew for treating me well these past few months. He's been a great communicator, and he recently went through extra effort to get me a timepiece during a time crunch (I had a special gift I wanted to give and the order was very time sensitive). Thank you, Andrew.
  7. A Zenith Academy will always be on my list. Always. And then the Hybris mechanica by JLC would have to be on this list. Indiana Jones would be proud to crusade for these.
  8. maybe some companies can make watch dials out of any fallout material!
  9. that's exciting! I've wanted to have the big three Firenze in my collection for some time. That would be very nice.
  10. Do you think they'll make a blue dial version (I believe it's the 326 and 327)?
  11. Sorry for being gone for so long peeps. Personal issues took me away for a good chunk of time. Actually, the tourbillon is still working fantastically. It's really good quality. I've heard that some people have had issues with the winding gears, but that's the only thing I've heard. It's been a solid movement.
  12. I'd be in for a group buy if they remanufactured this bad boy. It's been on my list for a long, long time. take care, m
  13. Thanks, Drulee! I'm glad I picked this over the Firenze. I can mod this and really enjoy it. I know it's a fantasy, but that's ok by me.
  14. It's really up to you. if it's the one I'm thinking about with the Seagull movement (ST-19), it's a robust movement and can last a long time with proper care.
  15. Hello, all. I just ordered a PAM 89 from Josh, the one with the blue dial. I'm getting it instead of a PAM Firenze which seems too purple for me. Does anyone have pics of the PAM 89 with the blue dial? Any thoughts on it? I'd appreciate any help on this good people.
  16. this is totally bada$$. very nice.
  17. this is fantastic Drulee. You and I have very similar tastes, which makes me glad to read your posts. Thanks for sharing!
  18. This isn't repped as far as I know. The only one that I know that is repped is the excalibur Chrono, which looks very nice.
  19. these are freaking awesome. I can't help but want to contribute something like this to more watches on Amazon. I'm still laughing.
  20. If you don't care about the complications themselves, or if you favor a cleaner dial, I'd go with the first.
  21. Amen to that. This is not easy work. Thanks guys, for looking!
  22. I'll try to do a review in the upcoming week when I get back from a business trip. I think it stands up quite nicely to the gen, given the price. Two major differences: 1. This is a manual tourbi movement. The gen has a pellaton automatic movement. They are worlds apart. 2. The tourbi casing that is visible on the dial however is very close to the gen. The only difference is that the balance wheel is about half the size, and doesn't have screws in it, which makes it an obvious distinction. 3. I also have an issue with the small seconds hand size, and the crown, which I realize now is misspelled, but so small no one including myself cares. I will switch out with a gen crown though. This watch is worth it. However, in terms of value. A tourbillon watch is expensive. There's no getting around it. The bottom line is that this is well executed. I love it. It feels like a quality piece, and the overall look is stunning. I'm not wearing this to pass it off as a gen. I'm wearing it because it's a beautiful freaking timepiece, and it shows in every possible way.
  23. If you've seen the IWC mystere tourbillon that the cartel's are offering and wondered whether they were worth it, let me tell you with a resounding sense of approval. Yes! Yes, they are! I own an AP Montoya, and even though that feels so great and gen-like, my Mystere just makes me feel proud to be in love with watches. Even though the tourbillon isn't a perfect match, it's a fine piece of machinery in its own right and the watch itself is amazing to look at. I just got it two hours ago, and I feel like a new man with it on. If you were on the fence, don't be. Just get it. Now for a gen strap... some quick wristies from my phone. Sorry about the resolution. No pic except maybe those from our expert photographers can do this justice.
