The Asian will actually work in your favor, as the gen GMT hand post hole is very close to the post size of the GMT wheel. All you need is to broach the GMT post hole just a tiny bit. As for fitting a small gmt hand on the ETA movement, it won't work because the post on the GMT wheel of the ETA is way too large and you would have to take out too much metal from the hand to make it work... If you do a search, you will notice that the majority of the 1675 builds used the Asian movement....

the 1655 is already tapped for a 6mm tube, so don't get a 5.3mm tube. What you'll need to do is a trial and error. A gen 5.3mm crown might fit on the existing tube or leave it as is...as for the 2846 conversion. If you can't find freddy333 thread, then I did a walk through of a conversion here.... http://www.rwgforum....55/page__st__40 I hope that helps!

J...your PM is full...but when I got home, I checked the oyster bracelet I had and discovered that it was a hybrid! One side of the bracelet was solid mid links and the other half of the bracelet was hollow! So needless to say, it is no good. But I still have the T22 if you want it. Cheers!

Ubi is correct! or choose the 102 if you want to used an asian movement for your build.

I have a DW oyster bracelet that you can have...I believe that the mid links are hollow. I'm at work right now, will need to check when I get home. I also have a brand new spare clarks T22 that I don't plan on using...

Great creativity M! I particularily like the GMT on the brown strap...good job my friend!!!

Kinda repish....gen black Vetta transplanted in a cartel Rolex 6234 case...nothing beats a simple black and silver dial...

What's the worst part Frank...I remember on another forum, some members were flaunting their VDB creations as the greatest thing since sliced bread. These are the same guys, on WC, slamming VDB now...don't get that part... BUT...sometimes a little glue goes a long way on certain frustrating projects!

it is an older ETA 2450 to 2475, just ensure that it is 11.5 in size...Similar movements were put into older gen Tudor subs. Even though they are a smidge taller than the 2846...you're more concerned about the stem being centered to the stem tube. The 24XX movement might be a tad taller than a 2846, but a dial spacer ring is not used for a 24XX, this makes up for the height difference.
-
alligoat is correct...I usually try to find a good ETA 24XX...it beats the same as a 1520. There are still plenty around. WIth a milsub you wont have the date window to contend with...IMHO...these movements are the best ones to use for a no-date build...

Another nice one Ubi...I've been looking for a good men's FM franken for some time. It looks like I just might need to start procuring parts to build a franken...

Awesome...simply...awesome...

check when rouhelena or helenarou...I know she sells the ceramic case sets, but she might sell the bezel seperately... http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-91375717912793_2138_673580

This is the EXPII with the sub case. Dial is really nice, but the date window was off to the right a bit, in addition to the minute hash markers being too thin. I actually took the markers off this one and tried to put them on the noob dial with no avail... The one Sead is selling is the replacement for the noob EXPII. I got the same one when I tried to purchase a noob from Josh just prior to the factory discontinuing them. The main flaw is the "II", no top and bottom hashes, plus I thought the bezel markings were too close to the outer edge of the bezel. They should be closer to the inner edge.

I saw another gen froggy 1016 dial on fleabay last night and checked out the price...all I gotta say...UBI PLEASE ADOPT ME!!!

That Tudor is ssssooooo cutsie wootsie! Another great build J!

Nice R! I don't get how you "happen" on those nice gen dials. I wish I have that "happen" ever so often! Yes...green eyed monster talking...sorry...

Here is a silly question jmb...can you use a center drill on a drill press or are they specifically designed for the lathe?
-
Hey M...I believe it is an early noob case...as far as I know, no other case, even the later noob case accepts a gen dial. But then again, I'm not an expert in the noob field...
-
Thanks JoJo...actually no...just because I like the way the it looked in the Japanese reference book...it has white hands also... I do want to find a better GMT hand. The shaft on the noob is a bit thicker than the gen...

I purchased a noob Explorer II from a fellow member quite awhile back (obviously it had the incorrect steel markers) and it has been sitting in my parts box for quite some time until I could locate a gen dial for transplant. Finally, I located and purchased a gen 16570 dial on fleabay, it had missing lume and a couple of the markers were scratched through the black on the markers. But overall, the dial was not too bad. I had initially wanted to get one of the expert modders to relume my dial with white lume, but one day I was looking through my Japanese Rolex references books and found this 16570... The modders must be busy, because I never heard back from them, so I took it upon myself to do my first relume on the dial. It's not perfect, but I have learned a lot on how to lume a dial. One day, if I have more time, I'll relume the dial again. But the Explorer has been sitting in my box for so long, I just want to wear it. I also repaired the two markers to the best of my ability with a very fine feltliner by carefully dabbing at the markers in question and did minor adjustments, like realign the bezel, because it was crooked. Here is the results... Because I'm not a big fan of the modern Explorer II, I was initially going to relume the dial and sell it. But after the relume, the noob 16570 has really grown on me. So I'll drill the lug holes next and swap out the crown with a gen one and hold on to this baby... ByTor was correct, the noob Explorer II is one heck of a rep...more so with a gen polar dial. I love the contrast of the black markers and hands against the white dial face... Thanks for looking everyone!!!!

That is sweet JoJo, a rare beast indeed!!! I have my eye currently on a 1630...
