  1. Go through the thread and you'll see that someone obviously didn't take their medicine today. Other than that benign finger point at who is the problem here...I agree....both of you sit down or go home!!!
  2. Security issues aside..... He might have asked a "newbie killer" question or two but he seemed, to me, to do it in a tiptoeing way making apologies for his naieve nature until he got accused of showin up demanding answers and then all hell broke loose. We all wake up on the wrong side of the bed some days and to be quite honest, I do think he got his throat jumped down for his attitude before replica terms like "ass" and "elitest" started flying.
  3. Wow....that's a damn shame. Is this a well documented problem with the replica? I remember getting told to STFU when I introduced the potential mechanical reliability issues in the midst of the group buy thread. While I might be pating myself on the back for not taking the plunge, I'd hate to think lots of the members here got screwed by a movement that had no track record to speak of. (Well....maybe I'm smiling just a little on the inside. There were a couple of one word replies in the thread to my question!) EDIT: Sorry guys, just found another month old thread on this topic. Looks like the movement is an absolute bomb. It's interesting to me that there was so much frat house enthusiasm in that GB thread for this watch...no one wanted to hear anything that might slow the train dispite warnings from many that a new watch with a new un-tested movement was no bargain and being first in line to get the freshest examples rolling off the assembly line was not an advantage. It's very quiet...the silence is ominous...from all of the bandwagon riders.
  4. The phrase "You get what you pay for" was probably coined with watch winders in mind. There's an almost linear relationship between price and longevity. For those who just can't wait to get their pieces on a winder, $100 for a 4 watch winder is just barely entry level. Look to pay about $80-$125 per watch to be wound for a basic quality winder that will stll be working 5 years from now. The equation gets tough when you have to factor in the longevity of some replica movements. If you are keeping replicas with questionable reliability movements wound, does it really make sense to have a winder that will outlast most of them?????
  5. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! Down Boy!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! Oh...dont go... Hey norton......wooo woooo!!!!
  6. I had my doubts about the ongoing reliability of the moved running seconds dial in that moving any running seconds hand meant constant running gearing to achieve the move,...always something to be cautious about. It looks like there were MANY watches sold in the group buy. Everybody happy??????
  7. Maybe, but in the light of recent events on these boards and others, we need to be careful. Chances are, he's probably a nice guy and a harmless neophyte just looking for information but can you blame members for a gun shy attitude???? I love newbies. I think they are the necessary foundation for the future viability of this discussion board but I'm looking at <10 post newcomers asking questions about access to the very best of the pieces with a skeptical eye these days myself.
  8. Borrowed photo The watch is a genuine 220 gram SMP rock Day
  9. We're not "elitists". We're "illegalists"!!!!! When I first arrived, I bucked against the information squeeze here often accusing the members of acting like they had the "keys to the kingdom". The fact is that the continued existance and viability of this resource depends on prudent publication of that information.
  10. Sold almost all of them except for the decorated movement IWC FA Jones in rose gold. Beautiful replica of a beautiful watch. And of course, I'll never part with my nearly perfect SS Submariner. What's the use of being a replica owner if I don't have one of those in my collection.
  11. Smart ass answer alert!!!!! Get a decent genuine. Tissot Seastar or LeLocle automatic, Hamilton Kahki or Dodson with a 2892 or 2895 base caliber, or save a few extra dollars and get an Accutron Gemini chronograph. If you are going the rep route, anything over $200 invested in a single watch is not money well spent. I'd get 4 beautiful 21Js or two ETAs but not one mega rep.
  12. Ryan Gosling wearing an IWC Portugieser Chronograph. He plays a hot shot up and coming lawyer in the LA DA office. Very good movie and quite a beautiful watch. My wife actually spotted it first and said to me "Isn't that an IWC?" God help her...I've poisoned her mind!
  13. I expect my next issue of WT to arrive on a fork lift fresh and bursting with information and pictures from Basel 2007 but the mag has been staggering to the annual March finish line of their publication relevance year with thinner and thinner editions. This past month sports a Rolex retrospective featuring recycled articles that are several years old. I guess there's only so much mileage in re-reviewing and re-rewarding 2006 distinctions like Roger Dubis and Maurice Lacroix as new manufactures, Seiko's Spring Drive, Jacob and CO's 31 day power reserve "cash register on a wrist", the Opus 6 one ofs' etc... Cant wait for the new stuff!!!! What will they do with that GP One Armed Bandit????
  14. Last pawn shop I was in, the owner was sporting a sidearm on his waist. I tinnk trying to pull any kind of a fast one on these guys is immoral and just plain stupid.
  15. Welcome home. We were starting to run on fumes without ya!!!
  16. Amazing work. Lots of artisans here. Maybe expensive mods to a replica watch don't make good economic sense but one has to get a warm fuzzy feeling of satisfaction when doing first rate upgrades like this to any watch regardless of origin.
  17. Great job guys. Whatever you did during that last server maitainance break superchareged my favorite site again. Wooooooshhhhh!
  18. Just agreed to buy one of these from a member to go with my genuine. The wife thinks I'm nuts buy a replica of a watch I already have but I'm loving the fact that I can post a side by side review in the future and keep my prized genuine in the garage under glass and wear the rep out and about. The inside looks great especially the decorated rotor and anti-magnetic cap.
  19. I was so proud of myself the first time I pulled hands and re-mounted them sucessfully. When I got a loupe, I saw what a scratched up mess I had made of the hands and the dial. It really makes you appreciate the skill and touch a master has when working in this micro world. I'm still something of a bear with a club but I'm getting better. Strong light is the best tool and don't forget proper bench height so you can prop rest those elbows just right.
  20. Std $25 for every transfer I've done from outside Philadelphia PA USA. I think that's way too much but I guess security is an expensive issue.
  21. There's a missing piece here. This guy is either totally out to lunch or the language issue is insurmountable. Either way, I don't think Ziggy has to defend his decision or public pronouncement to anyone here. For those late to the game who have commented this might just be a misunderstanding, this is a long time coming and the frustrations compounded by blown second and third chances are completely justified.
  22. Bummer. I used to travel with all of my prizes too but I discovered a tool watch and a dress watch were usually all I needed. LV might be a different story though. Every situation might need the ideal watch! Someone must have thought they hit the mother lode. As much as it hurts, it's probably a good advertisement for traveling with reps instead of expensive gens. Theft is theft. I'm not sure your insurance company needs to know your role in it in detail. Just tell them the Omega was stolen out of your hotel room
  23. First few points on your learning curve, this is a 10X loupe world. It didn't take much of a turn of the wrong screw to inactivate your watch. You might think the lever is back in the same position, but your beat rate might be off significantly. I have several Seiko automatics where the fine adjustments in the adjustment lever can only be done under high magnification sometimes only with light taps of the arm to nudge it into position. Tenths of a millimeter movements are standard for fine adjustment.
