  1. i've once had 40 reps..now that is hoarding! now i'm down to 25 reps w 6 gens..and i'm still trying desperately to cut the number down to abt 10reps.. money: yes, we're collectors and we shld "collect"..but i think it makes more sense to cull the watches i don't wear cause they are all gonna cost $$ to service 5 yrs down the road..and if i've nt worn them enough, i don't see how i can justify the $$ to service them only for them to be kept in the watch box for another 5 more yrs..so why nt sell them and use the money to get a super duper rep (roo w 2894/dd module?) or a gen? wrist time: i'm finding it hard to keep the reps in rotation cause i change watches once a week, almost always among the gen and the reps just don't get worn at all..there are some which i've spent a lot of time on to mod and in effect i don't dare to wear em in fear of damaging them..and there are some which are just impulse buys.. isn't it a waste to see em all in ur watchbox, unloved?? progression: new reps are coming out almost every other week, a super rep almost every month..so if i keep buying and don't sell those that i don't wear, i'll end up w a room full of reps and a hole in my pocket.. i'm nt saying sell all except for one or two..in the spirit of collecting, i reckon we shld have at least a few beaters to rotate, a sports watch and a dress watch..
  2. haha, glad that u've got the watch..wear it in good health!

  10. these 2.. and
  11. more shots..
  12. thanks guys!! uzuizi: i think the case is so awesome that having a minimally decorated asian 7750 in there is a waste. i believe u can throw in a swiss 7750 moddified w the asian's mainplate to move the subdials or can slap in a 7753 and not use the date.. it'll be awesome if they can come up w a 2893 gmt version, fantasy or not..
  13. first of all a great big thanks to angus for bringing such an awesome watch to the community and even bigger thanks to those dealers who were involved in the conception of the big bang. angus has always been a pleasure to deal with; good communication, fast shipping and bomb proof packaging. some pple might think the big bang from pt is too expensive. however, i think it's definitely worth it if u take into account the quality and the attention to detail the makers and assemblers paid on the watch. as usual i'll be reviewing the bang as a WATCH instead of a REP.. case: multiple pieces of brushed ss, polished ss and ceramic make up the case.. WOW crystal: AR coated sapphire crystal..one of the best AR so far, matches the famous pam036..not as strong as my gen breitlings tho. dial: gorgeous dial w lots of details..circular graining on the subdials and the outer rim of the dial..applied markers laser cut and v nicely brushed. some dirt on the dial but nothing i can't fix. the red used on the dial ain't striking enough, it shld be a lil flourescent.. hands: chrome hands..some light scratches seen under a 3x loupe..nothing to worry about.. strap: soft rubber strap w a very nice smell and slight tacky texture. extremely comfortable! edges of the strap is nicely finished. buckle: at least 5 pieces of metal make up the buckle. extremely comfortable, extremely easy to use, closes tight and looks awesome! the buckle has a disguised H logo which is nicely brushed.. movement: asian 7750, nicely finished w black screws and a custom engraved rotor! what more can i ask!? fit and finish: usually when i receive a (rep) watch that i like, i will take everything apart and clean, polish, rebrush, oil, sand down rough edges, change screws and springbars, etc to improve on the details and make the watch feel and look better. the big bang, however, does not need such time consuming and anal retentive treatment at all.. the pieces come together nice and tight, no unsightly gaps, no rough edges, etc..as for the finish, the brushed finish is by far the best i've seen, even better on the 194 and AP RO jumbo. matches or even better my gen breitling skyracer and steelfish. the polished finish is nice and flat w/out any irregularities. most polished surfaces will appear black when viewed straight on. polishing on the screws are just as good. as for finishing on the nooks and cranies...well, i will let the photos speak for themselves. brushed finish crown, crowntube, inner surfaces of "CG" rehaut nicely brushed look at that high quality springbar! inner surfaces of buckle nicely finished movement wristshots: comparision shots w my gens: in conclusion: judging by the quality, it is definitely well worth the money! for those who has the asian 7750 phobia, you can slap in a pearlage/CDG finished swiss 7750 or 7753 w the custom engraved rotor and you will be looking at a watch which looks and feels like it's worth $10k. do i regret spending $400 on it? NO. will the price drop while the having the same attention to detail? i don't know; if it does drop to below $300 w the same quality and attention to details, my expectations for all new reps above $250 will rise to a level on par w my expectations for a $2k grand seiko or $4k breitling..
  14. think i'm in for a gb too..if the price is right..i've the perfect strap for it..a gen black croc on gen deployment from my skyracer.
  15. great work on ur 001! here's my dirty dialed 001a... redialed it w tan paint..
  16. so someone bought a rep and destroyed it...hmmz...but that person actually bought a rep! makes me wonder what's his initial intention when he ordered the rep..
  17. will need at least 1 of those!!
  18. V - well...the 1665 does have a gen crystal installed..need to update the photo when i get it back from the watchsmith.. ..cheers!
  19. mrnixon - the 009 dial was filled w clay, the dirty dialed 001 painted w tan paint and the 201a was filled w glass paint.. V - i thot frankens mean different dials, cases and movements put together?
  20. one for me..
  21. my mods and frankens aren't as spectacular as urs, but since u asked.. don't laugh!! pam177h w the usual stuff plus bigger and thicker crown and CG.. pam024 w polished bezel.. dirty dialed 001b.. AP RO Jumbo w modded bracelet and modded crown to non screwed down.. pam192 w darkened ti case, brushed CG and bezel, black minutes and hour hands, modded deployment strap and display caseback.. pam040 w solid caseback, non AR crystal and dark ti case.. original design of the pam195 dsn pam009 w patinaed pvd case and filled in sandwich dial.. pam112h w the usual.. pam196 w siwss 7750, no recessed datewheel.. pam212 w 7750 case and manual wind movement, dial, pushers.. PAM176H w the usual plus thicker crown and CG.. pam001 w the usual, lello crown, non AR crystal.. 2006 pam236 daylight w modded dial and modded tapered bracelet.. panerai 201a w wabi case and dial, non AR crystal.. wm 1680 w modded pearl, inner crownguards and bracelet.. mbw 1665 w modded pearl, inner crownguards and gen crystal..
  22. agree w puggy..u can always wear it on a thick strap to offset the angle a lil if u think the watch is too big..
  23. nothing wrong w wearing a 44mm on a 6.5" wrist..i'm a scrawny asian w a 6.5" wrist and can pull the 44 and 47 off pretty well imho.. 44mm.. 47
