  1. Looks a bit weird, but if you're into watches, and you could afford one, you'd just have to get one! Let's see them rep that!! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Unfortunately, I sent one of my reps to Domenico just before I discovered Alastair, so I haven't had anything done by him personally, yet. However, I have spoken to him at some length and he seems to know his stuff, so I would have no hesitation in using him in the future. I explained to him that I wouldn't be able to recommend his work until I had seen it for myself and he said he fully understood. He currently has a gen Tissot, which belongs to one of my friends, which had stopped, but as I said, I have no experience of his rep work yet. As far as I know, he won't be able to reply to emails yet, but feel free to give him a call to discuss your needs. If you mention Gordon from Irvine he'll know that it's regarding reps.
  3. OK, took my reps to the watchmaker in Perth to let him have a look and give him an idea of some of the kind of items he may be asked to work on. He remarked on the quality of the pieces and asked a few questions about the movements. I explained that quite often the movements are second hand and not cleaned or lubricated before they are put in the cases and in some cases they look as if they have been sprayed with WD40, which really freaked him out! Anyway, he said that servicing would not be a problem and he confirmed that that would mean a complete strip down, clean, lube, reassemble and test. He covers all aspects of repair and I asked about re-lumes, but he said he wasn't that keen on doing re-lumes, although he does have the materials etc. to do it if specifically asked. He works on his own from his small shop in Perth and he is a smashing guy, really easy to talk to and very open and honest. I got some really good vibes from the first time I spoke to him! He is quite happy for me to let everyone here known his contact details and said that if anyone wants to ask any questions just give him a call. Unfortunately his computer is down at the moment, so he won't be able to reply to any emails, which is not ideal for anyone outside the UK, but I'm sure he have it sorted soon. If anyone wants to contact him by email let me know and I'll see if I can get him to get to sort his email issues a bit quicker. His name is Alastair Neaves and his website has his address and phone number if anyone wants to speak to him: www.thewatchmaker.uk.com
  4. Have you had any work done by this guy or do you know any more about him? This could be great too. The more the merrier, if these guys.are reliable.
  5. Visiting Perth, here in Scotland, for the weekend. Saw a small watchmaker's and dropped in for a chat. Asked if he was willing to work on high-end replicas and he said he was. Guy seemed decent enough and said he would need to see what kind of movements we were talking about, in regards to sourcing parts etc., but did seem genuinely interested. I explained that I was a member of a rep forum and that if his work was up to scratch he could get quite a bit of business from all over Europe. I said that, obviously, I couldn't recommend him to any of you guys yet as I hadn't seen any of his work and he was absolutely fine.with that. I'll try and get another visit here and let him have a look at the reps I have before we go any further, but it does sound promising! We could certainly do with.another watchmaker here in Europe as well.as Dominico, so I'll keep you all posted when I have more news. He has a website which you can see at: www.thewatchmaker.uk.com
  6. Got my first rep, a Skyland Avenger, in 2008 and have had no problems with it at all and it hasn't been serviced yet. I got an Ebel Discovery in 2010, the subdial at 12 never worked, but it didn't really bother me, and now I can't change the date via the crown so it looks like it's service time for that one. You pays your money, you takes your chance!
  7. Really like that Chopard, robertk.
  8. This is the "supposed" 1:1 from Joshua. It's very, very good apart, obviously, from the movement. I bought it on rubber and bought the bracelet from another member, but quite like it on either. I would agree with mbjoer about paying the extra for a bit higher quality and I also agree that, nice though it is, I wouldn't like to drop £11k+ on a gen.
  9. Maxi Marine Diver White Dimple face on SS bracelet. Joshua has them on his site.
  10. The second one is pretty good. I've been taking pics of my watches for years and you're right. Lighting is everything, especially with macro photography. But hey, if we got it 100% right every time taking photo's would become boring!
  11. I saw it for sale from one of the other members, here on RWG.
  12. It's the Aquanaut Jumbo V2 from Joshua. (The bookcase is actually a CD/DVD rack and I got it from a company here in the UK, can't remember their name now.)
  13. Actually bought the bracelet before I bought the watch. Liked the look with the black rubber, but decided I needed a change. I think it looks good on the bracelet too.
  14. I haven't checked every watch on Joshua's site obviously, but I agree. The ones I looked at, and have on my wish list, have gone up in price. Then again, everything else seems to be going up as well, so I guess us rep buyers shouldn't be any different!
  15. Noticed on the Omega website that the logo spacing appears to be different on the 42mm and the 45.5mm.
  16. I'm with Freddy on this one. I can't say for certain, but I would reckon a classic Rolex in fantastic condition would be of more interest to collectors than one which has been modified.
  17. Hi ahchard, If you're going to spend the money on a gen you might as well go for one with a complication! Rolexes are pretty much bomb-proof. I've had a SS DJ since 1993 and it ran perfectly without being serviced for 16 years. It was my daily beater until I got my GMTIIC two years ago. Prices have gone up, but if you get one you will have it forever.
  18. Normally you need to OK or reject the QC pics within 24hrs or he ships it regardless. Send him an email saying you didn't get the QC pics. He'll reply quickly. I'm sure it will be OK anyway, if he has already shipped the watch.
  19. Although this is a fair enough question for anyone who doesn't know, having dealt with Joshua quite a few times now, I don't believe he would send QC pics of a watch that had something seriously wrong with it. Furthermore, I don't think he would send anyone a watch which he knew was seriously faulty. Lets face it, it would be all mover RWG and it would affect his good reputation, not to mention his business! Obviously, the QC pics should be studied in case there is a minor detail he hasn't spotted, and he'll normally get most things put right or source a different watch, but the beat rate photo is generally proof that the watch he has sourced is running within acceptable limits. If he was going to send pictures of a watch which had a beat rate which was way out, he might as well send one showing the dial fitted upside down!
  20. Ashamed to say, I've just looked at this thread for the first time! Amazing photo's! Absolutely awesome! If it's ok, I'd like to share a few from my trip to Japan in 2007. Shinkansen, Tokyo.
