  1. Sunnydale you are so bad! That's the same combo I have. Maxman is going to be sooooo jealous!!
  2. What about a nice simple SS DJ?
  3. Got this from Joshua earlier this week, which, I must add, was another seamless transaction. As I already posted in the General Discussion area, there were a couple of issues, namely the chrono subdial not resetting correctly and the razor sharp edges on the chrono lever. The macro shot of the chrono lever makes the area which I buffed with the Dremel look bigger than it actually is. With the naked eye it only appears as a very narrow silver line along the edge, which can't be seen when the watch is being worn. You can also see the issue with the chrono subdial. Anyway, really happy with it otherwise. It looks bigger than it feels on your wrist, although it does feel a bit different because of the chrono lever contact with your arm. (I had been wearing the watch all day and should have given it a proper clean before I took the pics!)
  4. Still at work for another half hour! But, there's one of those ice cold golden things in my local with my name on it.................in fact I think there may be more than one!! Have a great weekend guys!
  5. Got my Chronofighter Oversize delivered today. Wasn't 100% sure about it when I ordered it to be honest, but I like things which are a bit different. Anyway, I really like it now that I have it on my wrist. Small couple of issues with it unfortunately. The chrono subdial doesn't reset to zero, or the "30" in this case, it resets to roughly 2 and a half minutes. Reckon this is a keeper though, so a service should sort that out as the chrono works fine otherwise. The other problem was the chrono lever. The edges were so sharp it nearly cut my arm! However, a few minutes with the Dremel on the underside and it's fine. Unfortunately, because the lever was PVD coated, the edge which was buffed down now shows the bare metal, but it's not visible when it's being worn, so I'm happy enough with that. I'll take some photo's in the daylight at the weekend and let you guys have a look see.
  6. Great review of a brand which probably doesn't get as much coverage as it should. Fantastic photography as well! Looks like I'll need to review my wishlist! Good job Chris.
  7. Yeah, saw him wearing the same one when he got his star on Hollywood Boulevard, or wherever it is.
  8. Sod it! Just ordered one from Joshua!
  9. Today's an Aquanaut day........
  10. I've recently got interested in the Graham brand and would like some opinions from anyone who has, or has had, a Graham. To be honest I'm thinking about the latest Perfect Clones version of the 2008 Oversize Chronofighter Tech Seal, but it's just so different from anything I've got, or from anything else, to be honest! http://www.1-pc8838.com/ga10033-oversize-techseal-chronofighter-p-11057.html I have quite a large wrist and I like big watches, so the size is not really an issue, but these things are just so freakin' out there, that I'm not 100% convinced! I'm really intrigued by the way that they are so different and I think that's what is making me apprehensive. I have a few other more "mainstream" watches on my wishlist, but I can't get this out of my head! Help me out here guys?
  11. Good choice, nj. Same one that I got from Joshua and I love it! I still like it on the OP rubber.
  12. I'm the same with the guy from Perth. All of us in the UK, if not Europe, could do with some additional reliable, rep friendly watchmakers. I have used Domenico in Germany and would not hesitate to use him again, but obviously being in the UK, a UK based watchmaker is more appealing. I don't think people like Domenico will suffer too much if us UK guys give some of our business to in country watchmakers, as there are also plenty of us in Europe who are outside the UK. The more the merrier, if you ask me!
  13. Thanks Chris. I don't have any doubts about his work or his ability, but I do appreciate that fellow members prefer to use someone who has a track record, as far as reps are concerned. Bearing this in mind, I'm planning on getting Alastair to service my Skyland later in the year, as I've had it almost 4 years and it's a definite keeper. I'll keep every one posted.
  14. I bought the OR for my Seawolf and the SS bracelet for my Aquanaut. I also bought my 111M on rubber, but all the others are on SS.
  15. Welcome to RWG. Nice to have another fellow Scot on the forum. Enjoy your stay. (Nice 127 by the way)
  16. I was on holiday in Perth, here in Scotland, last year, just after I sent my Ebel 1911 to Domenico for a service. I found a small watchmaker's shop and popped in to ask if he was willing to work on high-end replicas. He said he was. The following weekend I took my reps to Perth to let him have a look and give him an idea of some of the kind of items he may be asked to work on. He remarked on the quality of the pieces and asked a few questions about the movements. I explained that most would probably be Asian, but there might also be some ETA copies and also that quite often the movements are second hand and not cleaned or lubricated before they are put in the cases. In some cases they look as if they have been sprayed with WD40, which really freaked him out! Anyway, he said that servicing would not be a problem and he confirmed that that would mean a complete strip down, clean, lube, reassemble and test. He covers all aspects of repair and I asked about re-lumes, but he said he wasn't that keen on doing re-lumes, although he does have the materials etc. to do it if specifically asked. He works on his own from his small shop in Perth and he is a smashing guy, really easy to talk to and very open and honest. I got some really good vibes from the first time I spoke to him! He is quite happy for me to let everyone here know his contact details and said that if anyone wants to ask any questions just give him a call. I spoke to him last week to see if he's got his email sorted, but unfortunately it's still down at the moment, so he won't be able to reply to any emails, which is not ideal for anyone outside the UK, but hopefully he'll have it sorted soon. His name is Alastair Neaves and his website has his address and phone number if anyone wants to speak to him: www.thewatchmaker.uk.com (Just say Gordon from the replica forum gave you his details and I'm sure he'll look after you.)
