hmmmm...two words - Navi Fighter...
-
M and D....fantastic collaboration...looks terrific... hmmmmm...love the scales on this piece of leather...wondering how this would look on my Broad Arrow in black or grayish blue...
-
i have quite a few Chrono and Skyland Avengers... if there are any differences at all, its extremely minor...quite honestly, i don't notice much at all... R-
-
Use the ss caseset from the polished new dial seawolf with the dash markers and a gen old seawolf dial like the one below..then brush the polished case...see my "brushed skyland" post...
-
Very nice...great idea...and unique... Thanks for sharing...
-
Really sharp, Stacey! Wear it well anddddddddddd Happy Birthday! R-
-
@mikemc... Get the new rep seawolf shown above and mount a gen older seawolf dial...will be fantasy, but would look good...all numbers... I have a polished ss chrono avenger with gen blue dial - fantasy, but one of my nicest pieces...
-
Really sharp...love the base dials...
-
@ZK...not only is it you, but now you're in the company of Pete...i'd start collecting Grahams!
-
looks great, R... if your Code Yellow gets jealous, I'd be more than happy to assist...
-
@fp88...looks great... ...the sheen of the brushed looks great...and a lot less concern over getting the usual scratches/scuffs that collect on polished watches...
-
this one is being assembled as we speak... gen dial, gen hands, gen tube/crown, eta7750...
-
no worries, guys... i do have to say, i'm liking this brushed skyland - A LOT...the sheen on the brushed finish is perfect...makes the watch sparkle, but not in a bright kinda way...and sooooo simple to do... highly recommended for those with more than one Skyland...i would always want to keep a polished version (or two... ) in my collection, but am enjoying having a brushed version... Breitling Chronomat Evolution or Navitimer Fighters?
hackR replied to hascho's topic in The Breitling Area
my advice is to look in the mirror and decide what matters to you most...all reps have flaws - some worst than others - when compared to gen...but some are of high quality and looks - but may not be replimaniacally accurate...the BCE, Navi and SA watches you mention are all different...many of us have rep Navis and have modded them and/or just go with the look...the Navi Fighter is technically inaccurate, but its still a nice looking piece...there are differences in movements to also factor into the equation... but go with what you like unless you are overly concerned with someone calling it out for it being a rep...keep in mind, many of us here on the forums, have significantly more knowledge of reps and their features than the gen owners do...many will not notice the Fighter rep isn't brushed or its other faults...most will glance and if they know its a Navi will think of it as one...most of the details we all discuss here are only seen if someone inspects the watch or gets intimately close... so think about what you like; whether accuracy, looks, etc is important or not...i have quite a few breitlings and some are definitely not accurate - but many are sharp and couldn't be called out unless you are a breiling nut like most of us... i would suggest you also read the breitling rep guides in the stickies above...they are terrific guides... enjoy - R -
this hunk of metal today...

@all --> thanks!... as some of you know, I have quite a few Avengers (Skyland and Chrono Avengers) in each color... that said, i decided to brush one of them for a different look...i like the Skyland polished, too; just thought it would be a fun, simple mod that would create another variety...i am more than pleased...less of a blingy effect - but the brushed ss does still "shine" - but in a much less obvious kinda way... for those interested, all i did was carefully and slowly sand the polished finish to brushed - in a single direction...i followed the curve on the lugs...the sanding pad was cut into 3/4" strip for ease of handling using my finger to guide the sanding...i didn't mask off the polished edges, but was just careful...i left the case sides, the bracelet edges, the chrono pushers/crown and bezel ring polished...the rest is brushed...it really doesn't take that long to do (an hour or so)...the key is light repeated pressure in a single direction...the pad is flexible so you can use it to get into the creases in between the lugs and the area near the crown...make sure you also brushed the flat in between the lugs, as this area shows when the bracelet is attached... here's the exact pad i used - pix swiped from the internet...a couple bucks at most hardware stores... enjoy - R

wearing my latest mod - a brushed Skyland v2...(posted more pix in the Breitling forum)

Bought this Skyland pre-owned -- with the bracelet already brushed...Decided to brush the case; leaving the case sides and bracelet edges polished...thanks, Mike, for that advice! IMO, this mod adds a more rugged look to the Skyland...The dial really benefits from the brushing as it pops out a lot more than being surrounded by polished ss...A nice compliment to my brushed Blackbird and Steelfish; and a welcome change of wear with my other Avengers...Now on to brushing of my Navi Fighter a la Importr... Used a 3M Superfine Sanding Pad; brushing in one direction... What do you think?... Enjoy - R

@dave123...love the Bentley GMT...

@fp88 --> sweet collection...
-
you guys sure have the details...thanks for the learnings... i have to tell ya - the look of this piece is terrific...the fgd dial/hands in this case really makes for a watch that looks gen-like to me...i put a dark brown panatime gen croc strap on it and couldn't be more pleased... love these fgd dials...and these 177 case sets!... I decided to follow in Ubi's footsteps and replicate - kinda/sorta - the one and only PAM55 C with Pre-A T-Swiss-T dial... Here's Ubi's build: Ubi's PAM055 post Ok, ok - the disclaimer --> i was going for looks and not replimaniacal accuracy...so please keep that in mind... I used the new PAM177 case-set (yeah, yeah - i know its "technically wrong" - but best bang for the buck donor case set), a v2 FGD dial (that has a gray/dark chocolate tone to it) and FGD hands...i need to add a H3 cp set and find a C series closed ti caseback... but for now, i thought i'd share some quick Droid pix...when i get a chance, i'll shoot some better ones... enjoy - R
