  1. just received some QC pix from Josh... a few minor cosmetic issues (mark on the seconds hand, slightly recessed cg pin, cg lever ever so slightly not flush with the cg edge) the fit/finish of all components and assembly is terrific, IMO... verdict: all in all, a nice looking piece...well done... definitely worth buying... enjoy -- R
  2. I was actually quite surprised that a new titanium PAM was being produced...thought Doc had cornered the market on PAM titanium... O.T. Happy Holidays, Pete, you ole sot!...(learned that term from drunken evenings with Jethro Tull)
  3. O.T. when i went to order the new 177L two days ago, i also noticed he took the piece off the main page...and it wasn't listed under the luminor marina 44mm category...i had to use the search to find it and then order...totally off-topic...
  4. i'm in on this one...its a terrific value piece... of most interest to me is the crystal...will be cool to know the thickness and also the quality of the AR...do the math on getting a nice quality piece of PAM glass and then going the aftermarket ar path...you're halfway there in justifying the watch cost... my 2 cents...
  5. +1 O.T. congrats, Pete...still a few ahead of you and equally full of sh#t...
  6. i put together this crude view of (3) 177 models... the left one is a recent FS piece that was sourced by Josh - pre177...this one was modded and sold for approx $500usd... the middle one is the new 177L from nikos1978...$218 plus shipping ($25usd to US)... the right one is my old 177, modded, with LH dial...sold for approx $500usd...give or take... the new 177L looks good to me...and with the mods (superlume, high cp, clear ar, nice crown and cg, etc) this is a steal IMO... enjoy - R
  7. i understand - for once! - and agree, with Pete!...
  8. wow...a lot of good info... all i'll add is to beware that there are also hybrid movements...swiss/eta baseplates and chinese components, etc...swineese.... as a senior member once said, assume its not really an eta movement unless you see it come out of the packaging...
  9. ????....this was a silver/white/creme 1st release/batch steelfish that i installed a gen black dial from SMIDSY... hasn't been - nor will it ever be - in your grubby hands... (kidding, of course...kinda/sorta... )
  10. shamed by Plai's recent thread on the subject of WCs, here's one of my latest frankens...(not the best of pix, but they'll do for today)... Breitling Steelfish - 1st release/batch updated with gen black dial... cool rehaut lume markers, huh?!.......gotta get the hands and pearl relumed...always something...
  11. i post to the wristcheck thread in cycles...like others, i figure most know what i have...when i take "time off", i usually come back with new pix of my changing collection...and some of the "regulars" recognize that some are new - which is cool...i like to turnover my collection - but lately - i've settled a bit...over the holidays - when i find some quiet time, hopefully, i'll update my pix with the new pieces and the new mods... one other point...i try to post a comment on the brand, model, etc...for those that use the search, this is helpful...that's a big value to any member contemplating a new piece or "researching"... for us "regulars", i have to say --> i stalk robertk!...seriously terrific and diverse collection...definitely not the same ole, same ole...worth tuning in for IMO... R-
  12. chronoluvv is correct...the bezel and pushers are diff - v2 better...finish on both is dlc... i'd get the more accurate v2...and for $30usd more, its worth it in the event you ever decide to sell it...resale value of the v2 will hold more than the v3... lastly - and this is important...there's a hybrid version out there (sport ice) had one for sale...it was a mix/match of v1 and v3 - v1 dial, v3 bezel/case...sooooo - best be careful and get pix of the exact watch you plan to buy...this is yet another reason why i'd go v2...its the only one with the correct "1"s and with the right dlc coating... enjoy - R ps...andreww is wearing an Omega today...
  13. thanks, J...i recall you said that before... i can't seem to find the right "step" profile...the 25-295 and the tropic 13 aren't the same profiles... hmmmmm...still looking...
  14. hey Justin... i can find the right diameter - but, as you say, the "lip" or "step" profile is tough to find...the rehaut thickness is only 1mm, so the xtal would be very thin and flush with the bezel...ideal is 2mm thickness with the 1mm "step" above the bezel... looking for one without a cyclops - knowing i can add it later for better "alignment"...but this "step" profile is what i really need...
  15. Am mobile now, so will chk cousins, etc tonight... Does this size come with or without cyclops? If with cyclops, I have to assume its a crapshoot as to whether the cyclops would align with a 7750 movement and dial date window...unless someone has specific experience, i'll buy without and add cyclops later...
  16. i picked up a 2.5x cyclops from Pix I plan to install... Justin recommended I add the cyclops later for proper alignment...
  17. Excellent...is there a comparable sized Clark or other brand/source crystal out there?... Any suggestions on where to look? What's the spec on the the Rolex 25-295-1? Thx...R
  18. I'm in the final stages of assembly of my Tudor Chrono project...I want to replace the rep crystal with one that doesn't have the rolex coronet in the glass...I called ofrei and to no avail... The crystal i am looking for is similar to this one: Specs are: Diameter @ compression ring: 29.4894mm Overall diameter: 30.4292mm Overall thickness: 1.9558mm Thickness @ compression ring: 1.016mm I'm good with either plastic or glass (preferably sapphire, of course) Here's a pix of what my project will look like: Thanks...R
  19. order placed...need to bring a sandwich dial back into the fold...and geez - this really is a great value priced piece... @tanya...well said...question: i've always found variation in the finish/texture of various PAM dials...is the 177 gen dial "textured" or is it "flat black"?...obviously its tough to tell by these early pix...
