ya know...i think Z has one...we should check on that...but i'm sure his analysis will tell us enough to sort this out as far as the tube/stem/crown alignment...but its the date window i'm hoping will align...it should based on the pix members have shared...
excellent news and thanks for doing this...
wondering...do you have an old skool 196 with a7750?...if so, any chance you could send that to Z, too, so he can see if the new a7753 movement would fit in it?...(had to ask... )
R
thanks...will do...
i am asking about the v2 taking a 7753 because i am curious...
a lot to understand with all these versions...
oh, and i have an old case with the pusher in the wrong position...the case/bezel is really nice; close, if not same, to v1...
R-
thanks, D!...very helpful...
if you don't mind and have the time, can you stack them and/or put them side-by-side so we can see the lug shapes and the profiles of the v1 and v2...
from what i know, the v1 has squatter lugs than the v2 - but the pix will show that...not sure what the lugs are like on the gen...is the v1 or v2 lugs closer to gen?
lastly will the v2 it take a 7753 movement - assuming the ring is drilled for the pusher...i know the v1 takes a 7753 with the ring drilled...both needing pusher pins inserted into the ring, of course...
thanks...R
@babola and watchmesiter --> is it the bezel that defines the "better case" in these pix or the combo of the dial/bezel/case?...i undertand, now, that the high bezel is more accurate...but, i am still trying to understand the lug shape and/or case diferences of the "best case (EL or whatever)" versus the "a7750 cartel case" versus the "gen case"...
@Chronlv - case profile pix would be great...
not sure this was ever answered...i, too, have a similar a7750 196 (better dial with flush subdials), good datefont, recessed dw - but not too bad, serviced movement, etc...
don't wear it much as i'm currently hooked on manual winds...
the real question is: have you spent a thousand dollars yet to match your post count...
i keep posting to lower my spend/post ratio...
congrats, K...you're one of the best...

thinking there are a few informative posts needed that would be helpful to the membership...
i'll list a couple i'd like to read, but please feel free to add a few...i took the liberty of proposing some members who might be able to assist us...
ADDED: psst - this isn't meant to be a serious post...just a fun post with topics/requests that reflect RWG-life...

i'm a little confused...if you read the compare of this new movement with a gen 7753, Panerai guys are saying its a modified 7750...the date window is in the 7750 position and not the 7753 position...
notwithstanding a potential tube/stem alignment issue (which may definitely still be there), if this new movement is 7750-based, then there still might be hope for us tri-compax owners...but we would have to manual advance the date...and as A says, we still wouldn't have the proper datewheel...but we would have a flat datewheel...i'm still holding out hope - and will know more once a respected modder dissects the a7753...
check out this post from PaulVanDyke: a7753 and eta7753 compare post
thanks, D...appreciate the info...i have 2 old 196 cases...the one that will take a 7753 and the old EL case with the wrong pusher location...that old EL case, tho, has a really nice set of lugs, high bezel, etc...it's a shame on the pusher...
R-
this new a7753 movement appears to be a a7750 in disguise...which means that it might work...i watching this closely...
not sure how the new a7753 changes the date...but if by the pusher, we're screwed...
great look and pix...
i'll have to shoot some pix of my v1 black dial arabic Navi...recently added a new eta 4.5 datewheel and chief's double ar...
hoping that the new a7753 - which appears to be a modded a7750 - might be the answer to the sunken datewheel...fingers crossed...
