just stripped two today...popped the crystals out to make it easier...on mine - blue ar was only on the inside...
used stainless steel polishing paste/creme and a scotch brite pad (the kind with green scotch brite on one side and yellow sponge on the other (standard kitchen item)...slightly damp - not that i think it mattered...
in about 5-10 minutes of rubbing with pressure - they were stripped...
i also don't have a crystal press - but have found that with constant even pressure you can put them back...taking them out is a simple push out...

well...one can always wait and hope that this gets repped -- or one can ponder another project...
remember these old sausage dials floating around?...far from perfect...but then again, something is better than nothing...
hmmmmm....
thanks, I!...just playing catchup...great to see the side-by-side...
i still scratch my head over how good some replications are - but how a couple little things get missed...oh well...

regarding the swiss fish...i am wearing a black dial 2824-2 gold movement model with eta dw (same one BT reviewed) and there's noticeable blue hue...it makes the dial look more dark gray than jet black...and can cast a blue haze over the dial at some angles...but this is somewhat similar to my gen black dial aerospace...the dial looks more dark chocolate brown/charcoal than jet black...not to say the swiss fish has gen ar - because it doesn't...the blue hue on black dials make them look less black...
for comparison, the v3 skyland black dial crystal has less of a blue hue; but slightly more reflection...
R-
well...the black one kinda looks "wimpie"...no wait...that's you...i'm confused...
you might want to add the size and the movement specs...
and psst - what do i know anyhow...at least when it comes to this brand...
that's tough to answer...i'd say it works on 90% of my pieces...would never use it to open a Seiko Diver - for example - as that watch takes dynamite to open the caseback...
R-
really nice pieces...fantastic builds...the 009 is great - you don't see one of them too often...
question: you reference "dial refinished"...what do you do to the dials?...
thanks and wear them well...R
or use a soft rubber ball...pressing on the caseback and using force to unscrew it - similar to how you would use duct/packing tape...most of the time, it comes off fine this way - without needing caseback removal tools...
R
very nice...one of my favorite IWCs...
questions:
1) the gen hands fit onto the a7750 movement?...any tweaking needed to be done to make them fit?...any concerns with moving them onto an eta 7750 now?...
2) how was the AR on the rep?...can you describe it?...i'm assuming you went for aftermarket AR to make the dial pop...just wondering how the rep's factory AR is?
well done and thanks for sharing...

Been waiting for this one...
Another EXCELLENT review, BT...thanks!...
still on the fence with this piece...
but at least we have your excellent decision anchoring review...
