VC vintage chronographe limited edition (lemania)
hackR replied to hackR's topic in Other Brands Area
Hey Corg -- thanks... yes - i know of the VC malte chrono - lemania (seagull st-19)...my dilemna is that i already have a A.Lange&Sohne seagull flyback chrono - which i like a lot... i know the VC malte can actually be worn a little more formal than the ALS flyback chrono, but i was looking for something a little different... (the vintage VC is on my list...but was wondering why no one has posted pix of one or spoke of it...my guess is that "it's different" and that it's "fantasy"...but as you say, if i like it, i should consider it...and i agree...) R- flyback chrono pix below: -
This rep has always intrigued me...not sure why...probably the kinda retro look of it...like the pillow/cushion case, too... Since I have an ALS seagull st-19 chronographe similar to the VC Malte Chronographe -- i have decided to turn my attention away from the Malte... I have searched for references to this rep, but to no avail...could be because i missed it...or could be because no one has it or likes it... Wondering what your thoughts are about this watch -- and if you have one, what your opinion of it is?...and/or a request for some "real-time" pix... Also -- is this a rep of a real gen VC limited edition?...i searched google for it, to no avail... R-

i'd go to cnet's download.com and search around for some freeware... download.com has "clean" software... good luck...R

woo hoo!... great...thanks, guys!... this is what this forum is all about...i appreciate the teamwork...not just for your assistance, but moreover for The Zigmeister's tremendous support as well... I don't have the tools to work this, so i'll take it to a watchsmith -- WITH a color print out of the The Zigmeister post... @hooky --> was your problem/resolution the same as what Rolexman experienced?... thanks, Rrolexman...i appreciate the direction and the assist... re: the Blackbird...i love this watch...the bracelet is great...i love its look...nice dial/AR...probably a bit too blue'ish...actually makes the dial look mocha/dark gray... R-

sharp looking... does it have any AR on it?...what intrigues me about the new vintage Lani posted about is the AR...especially on a black face watch... R

agree on the service, but am trying to avoid that... looking for someone that might know or have experienced this problem...and whether this is a small or large issue...simple or complex fix... i have read somewhere (i think it was a Lanikai post) that the a7750 date mechanism for this specific watch is custom and parts may be difficult or impossible to source...so if i may be staring at a part problem, i might not want to get it serviced... the watch runs great otherwise...and really is a great looking piece... this watch is a definite for anyone who likes Breitlings...as the brushed bracelet is great and this watch would look equally good on rubber or leather... there is a definite stop before the last stop/time change position...turning the stem in EITHER direction does not advance the date... i will fiddle with it a little more, but i posted this because i couldn't find a position for the date to advance...i have quite a few watches, and this one seems to not work as the others...so i was wondering if someone with a Bird has experienced the same problem and/or know...obviously, there's been mods to the a7750 for this date configuration...and am wondering if i have someone broken/disconnected or what...as i said, tho, the date advances fine at midnight and is actually very nicely spaced in the date windows... any other ideas/advice?...
-
I just recently acquired a gorgeous Blackbird in a trade..this watch deserves a lot more attention - it's a great piece... I'm trying to sort out if this watch has a date adjustment/advancement problem...when I pull out the stem/crown to the stop before the time adjustment last stop, the stem/crown just spins in both directions w/o advancing the date...there doesn't appear to be a working date advancement stop...however, when I set the time via the last stop going past midnight the date changes perfectly...all other functions work fine...so the only way I can change the date is by winding the time round-n-round-n-round; full 24 hour cycles...argh!... Soooo, is the date adjustment/advancement on this watch broken?...any advice is welcome... I realize i may need a full service...but am wondering if someone has experienced this or know what could be causing it...simple or complex "fix"... Thanks...R

@whites --> do you have any pictures?... R-

is the watcheden rubber strap soft or firm?...collects dust or not?... R-

A quick post of some pix of my recently acquired Navi World GMT thru a member trade... Bluerex created a post asking for strap recommendations...I posted these... The white dial of this watch is actually more off-white/antique white...which, IMO, is actually much more perfect for this watch that a pure white dial...the choice of this Gunny Mona strap really makes this watch rustic, yet still classy...I wish I could take credit for the strap choice, but alas, the previous owner put it together... For some reason, this 47mm watch actually wears a lot smaller than it is...a great piece...(even if its not replimaniac perfect)...it's perfect to me... Enjoy -- R

@Logan -- thanks!... @all -- question: only 3 of 8 screws turn...the others do not...i plan to remove them all and use jb weld...besides plasticine, is there another way to get them out easier and safely?...the ones that are loose, do not come out when i press tape on them...sounds like plasticine might grip it enough to coax them out...but any other ideas that don't hurt the case, would be helpful... R-
-
re: JB Weld...questions, bloody questions... are there different types?... is it a 2 part epoxy that you mix and apply?... is Lani's suggestion of a toothpick application the route most go?... and please excuse my ignorance, but what is Radico?...i would be worried about wiping off any excess - so is Radico (??) or something else recommended?
-
yes, it is...i really can't take credit for the combination, tho...i traded with a member for this watch as it is... it seriously adds a great vintage look to this watch...it gets a lot of looks from people... R-
-
Gunny Mona 120/80... ...since the dial of my Navitimer GMT is actually more of an off-white/antique white, going with a more rustic strap really sets this watch off nicely...... R-
-
@RoninQ - how did you remove yours?...i think i'm going to follow Lani's lead on the rubber cement...R-

of them all, i like the Sky Racer Raven Limited Edition... -
and Mick...great avatar!...

Welcome...my eyes are still dilated from reviewing that macro shot... i think Pugwash needs to take a bow...it was his white SFSO that launched my first purchase... advice: be weary, very, very weary...this will lead to mates for your sfso...you can't just own one breitling...highly addictive...and if you stumble upon Lani's skyland pix, you'll spend sleepless nights deciding between gray or black dials...start there first...because you soon will understand that it's the strap that makes the watch complete...and strap "analysis" will leave you exhausted - not to mention, broke!... Go Orange!... R-

@Guru1 and/or others... great information...my Blacksteel arrived on Saturday, but i put it away immediately...why?...b/c my HKTan red/black is arriving this week...didn't want to spoil the watch before i mounted the red/black strap!...so timely for me... question: is there ANY glue holding the screws in from the factory?...do i need to loosen them by turning them left/right before using plasticine to remove them?... thanks - R
