  1. That's a great story. I too have been impressed by random acts and generosity since being in our hobby
  2. Yep, forgot about the crown/tube. Ah, that was a very nice case back. This was a "Zigmeister" build I bought from Watchmeister
  3. Going through my PB account to do some house cleaning and wanted to post 2 builds that couldn't have happened so nicely without the awesome case set that is known usually just as the "JF" on the forums. The consummate base for many wonderful frankens that have graced the forum over the past 4-5 years. Especially nice because gen parts fit without any issues Here are 2 of mine, one from the past and one current. First up... JF case set JF CG Caseback Angus/Homer old cartel Movement DSN? Gen crown and tube Gen Dial Gen hands Next one a year a later. This time the JF was used after a gen 111E part out. I got the gen movement, dial, hands and case back. I decided to go with a gen G series CG I had leftover from another gen part out. The JF I sourced for this build didn't have a crown tube or bezel, but a great member came to my rescue with gen replacements and a gasket Later the watch was sold and the movement harvested for a Fiddy franken project. Then a year later I was contacted with a "first refusal" offer to buy back the watch in it's latest incarnation. The movement was replaced with a ST-36 and the 111 case back with a custom 1C from Jakob. The historic CG will stay in place until a nice early series CG turns up. These last 5 pics are my favorites taken with my outdated iPhone (outdated but still does the job ) Is it obvious this L SWISS L dial is one of my all-time favorites?
  4. See my response to your post.. post #5 above has a link to the build by it's owner. PM him for more info.
  5. Build details here... http://www.rwg.cc/topic/139366-franken-pre-vendome-–-5218-207a-1996-slytech-daylight
  6. That's the problem when you get a taste of gen, in this case you're looking at gen dial and hands... I'm in love...
  7. Tight crop from a wrist shot yesterday, so a little grainy. More pics and macros to follow of this amazing franken... not mine, but get to hang with it for a bit... thank you SERGEANT_AT_ARMS See post #9 for some more pics.
  8. They did get it right... it's a destro orientation.
  9. I like both images a lot. But you can't just post pics and not give us the details... what were you thinking?
  10. You are absolutely right. Maybe someday he'll find a forum where normal social interaction skills aren't necessary. Odd fellow.
  11. sorry for the duplicate post... see post #8
  12. Are you trying to educate us or want us to educate you? If the former... then do so, if the later then say so.
  13. Good time to get back into PAMs... the new reps are impressive
  14. Just measured it... 130mm/85mm which was the standard length that came with PreV era PAMs.
  15. Helping a good friend with his 201/A project and will be adding this strap as the final ingredient. Couldn't capture it easily, but it's already developing a soft sheen, should patina beautifully with some daily wear. Old phone and old leather
  16. I believe he's suggesting that Vac still has some FGD dials in stock. I'm impressed... but forgive me for asking, why would you put a gen 1990's Pre-Vendome CG on a rep watch????? I assume you know it's value... you could buy a very nice gen PAM for what it sells for.
  17. Got me now... movement's the same as base closed-backs. I guess it would be worth mentioning, non-rollerball vs. rollerball CG.
  18. 2 things I would suggest... save the gen crown, CG (I'm assuming it's not an original Pre-V era CG which would cost silly money) and hands for a killer contemporary franken build as they will not be as accurate for an earlier Pre-V build. And place a WTB for a FGD dial. The last time I did that I had 2 on the way in less than a week.
  19. 000 boring black calf / 390 vintage ass strap 000 boring little presentation box / 390 unnecessarily over-sized Ltd. Ed. box with a fake parchment scroll designating the unique # that you and you alone posses so you get a warm fuzzy feeling every night before you go to sleep glancing over at your "special" watch admiringly placed on the nightstand with the dial face aimed in your direction. That's why I bought the rep version
  20. They already are and have been for a long time...ebay is their friend
  21. 000 logo dial / 390 no logo 000 black dial / 390 brown dial 000 black hands / 390 gold hands 000 standard lume / 390 vintage lume 000 standard case back / 390 specially engraved case back with pig ... other than that... I guess that's why they refer to the 000 as a "base" PAM
  22. $413 now (pre-order was $368) doesn't seem over-priced at all.
