  1. Still going with gen. titanium Omega SMP Chorno on left wrist, and silix PAM036 on right wrist, though the strap has changed from navy blue Hirsch Corvette Alligator on deployant to black Hirsch ballistic nylon (Veni 212-style) ond deployant.
  2. Well, I only started getting back into watches around November/December last year... So for the trips I've gone on, I always take a Timex that I can use in a sauna/jacuzzi/swimming. Copenhagen, Denmark (Dec/Jan 2006) - PT YachtMaster Vilnius, Lithuania (July 2006) - Silix PAM036 and MBW Two Tone Silver Serti Submariner Stockholm, Sweden (October 2006) - Silix PAM036, EL PAM092 (for fitmic) and gen. titanium Omega SMP Chrono. No problems anywhere, though they had a look at them as I took them off for the x-ray machine in Lithuania. Nothing was said, but they checked my TDK CD case with built-in speaker, but it was ok in the end. I usually go wearing a watch on each wrist, and the timex (on the last two trips) was in the suitcase. I also take around 5 watch straps for the PAM, but put the screw drivers in the suitcase. My view is if I lose the suitcase at least I havent lost the watches or the straps. This week, coming back from Sweden, I found that the handle on the suitcase was broken - the baggage handlers probably threw it on and broke it in the process It was not convenient getting back home on the train with the suitcase in that condition.
  3. $180-200 should be about right, especially with fixed datefont. Correct Titanium version is my first choice, followed by plain SS version.
  4. I'll find out more and talk to fitmic when he is not watching Djurgarden! Should be good, I'll be able to give everyone a review if it works out.
  5. I think that it is right-handed (I have 2) and that the display back is different to the current G, H and I series movements and does not have the swan neck regulator or plates. It is a basic ETA 6497 movement with the standard plates engraved and blued screws. Go to the official Panerai website and you'll be able to see what I mean. The 217 is left handed, and similar to the PAM127 (notice the number swap?) but has an H series movement I believe.
  6. I just got back from Stockholm. In some ways a surreal experience as I had a cold develop the night before, and didnt go to a single club! Weird that people are prepared to queue for hours outside a club, I don't remember the last time that happened in London! Got to meet fitmic Very nice guy, and definitely likes drinking and bars I may even go back there for my birthday in a couple of months - fitmic gave me and my friend a great idea Anyway I'm tired, will have a quick look around and eat dinner.
  7. I think that IWC use this system for all their bracelets, and Pugwash's tutorial is pretty straightforward. As it is, you don't even need that tutorial to figure it out but it's great none-the-less
  8. Girls tell me 6.7 inches is way too small, but I'm way too big ? What do you mean, oh, you're talking about wrist size? Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... Seriously, it is partly preference, and if the lugs overhang your wrist. Do a search and you will find some skinny wrist shots. Good luck
  9. One more day to go and I'm going out to Stockholm Feel a little apprehensive for some reason. Guess i'm a little under the weather with a little cold. Hope it clears up by Friday!
  10. I think it's been posted a while back back titanium is lighter than steel, and steel is lighter than tantalium.
  11. I don't think tantalium is hugely expensive to explain the mark-up on the genuine either.
  12. I think finepics looked at that as a solution for the 188 and 196, but found that it would be too thick to stick on to the datewheel. Any thinner and it doesnt print properly or cover the original numbers, I'm not sure.
  13. Do a 111G series so it can be used in the great 001's too!
  14. I like that one apart from the weight factor. Tantalium weighs a lot more than titanium and (i think) steel, so it should be pretty heavy. It should also be a blue-grey colour ... I don't think we'll see a rep properly replicate the tantalium, unless we are lucky enough for someone to use real tantalium.
  15. So the IWC should have an AR coat as well? I seem to remember thomasng saying that the gen had a wobbly crown stem, maybe it was hit and miss which one you got? He seems to handle every watch that comes out
  16. The gen apparently also has a wobbly crown. Perhaps the poster above who owned the gen can confirm if this happened in his one? I managed to get a genuine dial but it will be a while before it goes on. Need to get money!!! And probably an ETA 7750. This watch is good enough to keep a looooooong time. Only problem I find is that the bracelet can pull hair on the arm when taking it off.
  17. LOL Chances are, this rep will have the same level of water resistance if we're lucky!
  18. Apparently the gen Seatimer has a water resistance rating of 30 metres ! What's up with that?
