Not to be facetious to a long time member, but this was posted up in the weekend on another thread, and a simple search (or look through a couple of pages) would have given the answers - better to keep it all in one thread so future searchers find the answers in one place.

someone is/was selling the old case 196 in the sales section.

XviD is a free codec but DivX is licensed I think. XviD creators used to be part of the DivX team but wanted to keep it free I think.

Maybe Pugwash, our resident Photoshop expert, (or slay) can say whose pictures were doctored if it's obvious to them?

Vertigo straps are good. I haven't tried the Sportivo so I can't say. Maybe someone else knows?

I have to say BOB straps are good enough if you want to replace the rep strap. Great value for money, and won't leave your watch looking shabby either.

Unless there's a woman involved? Ok, seriously, it is a very bad job shown in those pictures. For close to $1000, you're better off buying a second hand Omega Seamaster Pro (Bond watch). You get the real thing without all these issues. There are other choices. Around that price or a little more will get you a Breitling Superocean. thomasng recently sold a gen Omega SMP Chrono around that prie too. Next time you think of getting mods done, think of the total cost and if you are better off getting a genuine, and how bad you want the watch that you are getting modded (as it still won't be a genuine at the end of it!). Problem is that the government could easily stop all of these but don't and you have to wonder why not. Perhaps it serves their purpose? Either way, think for yourself and don't believe what is spoon-fed by all sides. Why couldn't a government use something like this to further their own ends, whether they did it themselves or allowed it to happen, or just took advantage of the situation to do what they wanted to do (eventually invade Iraq perhaps?). Remember in the 70s there were lots of UFO sightings. The government could have stopped all of that, as it turned out to be the Blackbird spyplane or the stealth bomber. Now we have a country full of UFO nuts being abducted all the time

I guess I like variety as well as something different, or I would still be on rlx (worked that one out of my system ) ... I have so many PAMs, this one is different enough. Round case reminds me of Zenith El Primero, but the lugs are very different. Very nice

A Metta strap is around $200 I think. Haven't got one yet though! At least you can sell your strap afterwards separate from the watch. Problem is, how many do you buy ? It's just as addictive as watch buying!

I hope you're enjoying the Ingenieur For those with the SS GST Chrono and the Ingenieur, swap the clasps on these 2 and you have improved accuracy on both - GST should have pearlage, and Ingenieur shouldn't

I think kenberg meant the 6, 9 and 12. They don't curl in as close as the real thing, and the one has the serif slightly different. I don't think it would be immediately noticeable to many, and not many will even know what this is! The black datewheel is something else, but it still looks nice with a white datewheel.

SE W810i (2MP camera phone) SE K800i(3.2 MP camera phone) Looks like there are some new phones out : W850i; W950i (4GB memory!), though I think both may have 2MP cameras, but I'm not sure.

If you end up with a Sony Ericsson, get the free software Float FMA, which lets you synchronise with your computer and transfer SMS messages etc to the computer, backing up numbers; using the phone as a remote control to control your computer and so on. Obvious place for specs is the Sony website, i think it's http://www.sonyericsson.com. The 2 phones I mentioned play MP3s as well as games and taking pictures. The only real difference is the one with the better camera is slightly bulkier and not as nice looking. I think they both take memory cards, and you can buy 2gb memory cards from http://www.svp.com (also the best place to get blank media - they stock Taiyo Yuden discs! Very quick shipping too).
