  1. I guess im the opposite spectrum, I'm moving away from gens. Tired of taking huge loss on resale when buying from an AD, long service times, and a serious case of watch OCD. Example since I know your a Nardin fan, I've been looking at a maxi marine limited because I dont expect an excellent rep in the near future. Best AD price is in the neighborhood of 8k but in the last month there was one posted on tz for $5850. Up until the last 6 months, I basically considered reps throw aways for when I got tired of a design I'd get rid of it and try the next. Before the Nardin, the last Gen I looked at purchasing was an AP ROO... Tried the gen 2 years ago and almost pulled the trigger, bought the rep a month ago wore it a week, and its sitting in the basement on my workbench. Then reading ThomasNG's AP repair bill plus extended wait made me glad I still have 17k to spend elsewhere.
  2. Do you seriously believe that in this day and age? Most of the luxury watch brands are owned by investment groups... They are not the same company that was started in the 1800s, blah blah blah. If your strictly a vintage collector I would agree with you, but do you really think modern day rolex cares about their lineage or selling watches (The answer is pretty obvious if you've seen their latest releases). And seriously how much of the current watch manufacturing market has been outsourced from switzerland/germany to china/india/thailand.
  3. Most dealers would add links for you if you have a large wrist (most for a cost), but they may not put them in the band for you... How do you know how many links to have removed all bracelets sit and wear differant. Just because you need 1 link removed for one watch does not mean 1 removed from another would be correct for your wrist.
  4. I'd bet money it would be pvd, blacksteel isn't hard to do but would cause the maker extra money for the initial setup.
  5. No offense RobbieG, Andrew stating "I'm the reason we have every 1:1 project" does not make it so. It takes quite a while for many of these 1:1 projects to launch, and there are a few dealers that know... Most just don't go around stating it is their doing.
  6. You said nothing of the Skyland specifically, but in so much as saying ALL that would include the skyland and the skyland is one of the two big reps at this very moment (and the soon to be released SA, also not J&A)... GMTIIc was not a J&A project, they "adopted" it when they saw the hype it was getting, that project was in the works for a long time.
  7. No answer here, but on my mbw if i tighten them too tight the rotor rubs. So I back them off just enough that it doesn't, has been fine for cleaning (except almost losing a pusher down the drain).
  8. It could be a while, but I imagine a few more will sell now that silix has it and for $100 cheaper.
  9. woohoo, that's what I posted at rwi: from looking at the pics your 2892-2 stamp is actually laser etched, and the shock system is differant. Paul/Womart was famous for selling these movements, could be the dealer was misled by the maker. Sorry Tom, but i'm sure the dealer will make it right for you.
  10. WOW I took apart the drain pipe and there it was in the elbow now I'm off to buy a lottery ticket...
  11. Anyone know where to get a replacement rubber pusher. Was cleaning my mbw and im afraid it went down the drain.
  12. RobbieG I missed in your last 10 posts where you inform the members that your ramblings are based on opinions and not facts. Makers produce the watches they want, there are multiple makers. Ask J & A how the claimed 1:1 project for the V1 Skyland turned out when the HBB maker put out the "V2"? Now for once we have a good rep with a good price, because there was competition between the makers and no colusion between angus and J/A... If they commissioned the V1 don't you think they would have been much happier if the HBB version was exposed 2 months after theirs not weeks, and found a reason to push the V1 more?
  13. That's funny the watch that was in the center of this last incident was the ROO. Other dealers price was $65 cheaper... Other dealer has a few years history, but I don't think he has Josh/Andrew volume so I expect he pays more for the same watch, how can he afford to have it so much cheaper?!?!
  14. Sorry mis-interpreted your response... I'm right there with you, no reps for me over $350, but there are dealers outside J&A that can get the super reps and at a price 25% less. There are at least a few people on this board that are not paying cartel prices.
  15. Hont recently took prices down on his RWI listings after getting a call from his supplier after disclosing his price to andrew in the emails that were posted on RWI. I believe there used to be prices last time I looked at his site, but like Ruby I would email for the latest price and availability.
  16. Really Ridiculous?!?! Multiple seperate dealer complaints over an extended period of time accusing the same thing, obviously didn't seem to ridiculous to the admin team over at RWI. Anyway, as a board the admins can chose to endorse them or not endorse them... Whether members continue to buy from them really has no bearing on the decision, each person must make that choice for themselves.
  17. You may be right about the impact, but that should not an excuse to do nothing... As for RG, I would agree with you but that is the choice of the administration team over there if thats how they want to run their site.
  18. But Jot, thats what makes this place and RWI great, you can have a differance of opinion then slay... and you wont get banned here (nor would you get banned at rwi) because slay has 10x as many posts as you. You don't have to have the same views, just understand that these forums stay active by participation and you might find the admins of any forum, watch related or otherwise, are always concerned with the feelings of their most active members. You can't please everyone, that is fact.
  19. JOT, I don't think there is a problem with any member expressing their opinion. I think the people that are around and posting everyday get a little discouraged when people come and express opinions without participating... Right or Wrong, the admins wanted to allow freedom of speech on this issue and letting everyone express their feelings, for the most part, as long at the thread did not get down to a pissing match and then we tried to address it with pm's so others could express their feelings without locking it.
  20. Basically it amounts to each board has the option to add or remove dealers at their chosing. There needs to be no rules, dealers presence here is a courtesy to the dealer. Each board has dealers that the others doesnt (Hont at RWI, Eurotimez here, sead at RG, ect)... It was RWI's choice to no longer support Josh and Andrew. This is not an equal opportunity forum, this is not a court of law (which VARY GREATLY depending on the country)... 1. It may not do anything to Andrew and Josh sale, but that wasn't the point. The point is based on the information that was received from multiple dealers over an extended period of time, RWI chose to no longer vouch for them. 2. It may harm RWI by loss of member, but again that is not the point. The admins thought it was the right thing to do and they did it. 3. It may result in a loss of traffic from Josh and Andrew's site since they removed links to RWI, again traffic patterns were not a concern. What we felt was best for the forum and the members as a whole is what the decision was based upon. Anyone is free to purchase from anyone they want, ioffer and dhgate are full of hundreds of dealers, the other boards have dealers... But that does not require RWI to continue supporting dealers that they do not feel support the long term welfare of the rep community. Those that are upset that we made a choice for you, your free to leave and pursue another board, or start you own... then come back and let us know how easy it is to deal with these types of issues.
  21. I don't think it has anything to do with fuel... Shipping charges are a pass through from the dealer. It's market dynamics, makers/dealers have spent the last 6 months determining what the market will tollerate. And except for cases where 2 makers come out with the same model in a short period of time you will continue to see high prices as long as there is demand.
  22. Any rep they put out in the next 6 months would be no where near the accuracy we would consider super/ultimate.
  23. For starters it needs a bigger bracelet.
