  1. The color gold of the hands must match the color gold of the numbers on the dial exactly of course, so that's why the gen hands are installed. The central seconds hand didn't fit so there's a new part from a swiss 7750 in there as well. As for the AR coating i'm not sure yet. Of course it looks much better, but first i have to find out from what time period the serial number is... if it's from a time that IWC did AR coating than i will have it coated... otherwise it stays in this condition Yep... i'm a bit of a perfectionist Thanx for all the nice words
  2. Hi guys, I have been in love this the IWC Portuguese chrono since the first time i saw one, but the movement and small dial errors always held me back. A few months back i bought one of the new IWC Portuguese chronograpg with so-called new movement. But this movement also was a disaster... but no worries as Domenico can do a graphite treatment... not the dial was the only problem. Than i was offered an OEM dial + hands... so this is a quick shot Domenico made before shipping it of to me. - gen dial - gen hands - newer movement with graphite treatment
  3. So did i After giving it some thought i'm pretty sure i bought Stephane's box. I sold it around 3 months ago to Ravishingrick. But if Rav is not satisfied and is convinced the box is fake i will take it back of course. But even than i'm interested in the experts opinions as i have no use for the box and like to sell it again... as a gen or as a fake, that depends on the experts opinions. In my memory i discussed this box with Taka and we back i think we concluded it was an older series box. Somewhere A-D series. But i deleted all emails so i can't look it up anymore. Ravishingrick mailed me he will post some comparisson photos of the box i sold him and a gen K series box. Let's wait and see the photos.
  4. Like i already posted, the papers and screwdriver are fake... the box should be gen. I am amazed if people can judge if a box is fake or gen by some papers... i thought we where talking about the box!
  5. I bought this box from a fellow member who told me the box was genuine. Later i sold this box to RR who now claims it's fake... Please let me now what you think. The person who sold me this watch told me it was an old A, B, C or maybe even D series box. These where slighty darker he told me. Love to hear your expert opinions.
  6. This is all very excellent A good trained watchmaker on board and lots of happy members!
  7. I will miss Taka with his midnight watch modding
  8. The work Domenico did for me: - longer canon pin installed on low beat ETA in my FrankenDJ - longer canon pin in IWC Ingenieur so the hands would have a decent distance from the dial - installed correct datewheel in IWC Ingenieur - installed genuine IWC 7750 in IWC 3717 - installed genuine IWC dial and replaced markers in IWC Ingenieur chronograph - graphite threatment on IWC Ingenieur chronograph - service of asian 7750 on IWC Cousteau Divers And here's a photo of two of these babies
  9. Domenico did some amazing work for me and i can recommend him as an excellent watchmaker. He only speaks German, so make sure you can find a way to communicate with him. When it comes to the quality of his work and his speed i am completely positive (see my signature)
  10. Hi Mark, To be honest, the dial and hands would be a perfect investment! But the difference between a swiss7750 or gen IWC 7750 isn't to big, so i'd choose the budget-friendly option. Although i had a 3717 with gen IWC 7750 and loved it, and i must confess the quality of the movement is absolutely better. But keep in mind that you're working on a rep... and investing too much wouldn't make sense. Good luck mate... sounds like a great opertunity for a superrep
  11. Great read, thanx Laz my mate... that's a beauty!!
  12. Excellent guys!! When it comes to strap change options this 3717 has almost Panerai possibilities Here's my 3717 with gen IWC movement... it's sold... but still very beautiful on the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor strap
  13. Hi Mark, I'm afraid a gen crown won't fit. The rep crown has a tube that is threaded on the outside. The gen tube is smooth on the outside. Although it's a screw down crown i have no idea where the thread is. This looks like a mighty project mate The gen dial is somewhat less smooth and this gives it a more deep black look. Chief's AR looks more or less the same as the gen AR, so that's good. One thing that always stands out for me is that the 12-3-6-9 markers are different from the rep markers... but they don't glow much more!! The gen superlume is hardly doing it's work, but keep in mind that this watch does not need to have dive watch specs... but pilot watch specs! Just be aware not to spent an amount that could also buy you the gen...
  14. WHOW!!! That's a good looking watch, Lanikai and some great photos! Thanx for sharing
  15. isn't possible for the price limit you have, unless you go for a croc print from BOB. If you want gen alligator than the watch boys are very good and have a good price as well.. although higher than your budget. @bwhitesox... that's my favorite combination
  16. Well... let me think on it... YEAH!!!!! Of course i'll be there!!!!! Now i can't wait :bounce:
  17. Exactly my friend! The gen is 35 or 36mm so quite small. The older manual wind with 2 registers is even smaller...
  18. maybe the Aquatimer strap fits?
  19. You're welcome guys. For anyone interested, the watchmaker only speaks German so he can only email in this language... if you're interested sent me your email and all i will do is introduce you guys to eachother and you work out details of the work that is required. I've had great experience with this guys. Service of movements, installing longer canon pins, graphite threatment for the IWC Ingenieur and Portuguese chrono and ...well i'm sure he can do much, much more.
  20. Hi guys, Some of the work on my watches has been done by a watchmaker in Germany. He does not do mods like Ziggy, but regular service or graphite treatment are things he did on my watches. He also installed longer canon pins on my Ingenieur and FrankenDJ so the hands don't almost scratch the dial. He only speaks and types German... so if you want him to do some work, you should be able to speak German as well If you want his contact details, just sent me a PM with your email.
