  1. Because of the seconds subdial. The ETA 2836 has a center seconds hand. Also, if you want a PAM with a date, you need the 7750 since the hand wind does not have a date (and it is hand-wind). The 7750 gives that ability for the watch to act like the gen. Finally, the 'swiss' ETA is most likely manufactured (at least partially) in asia. The 7750 is a more complex movement which is why it commands the higher price.
  2. Venus copy on average has a longer life. I'm not sure which one is easier to fix. Probably fairly equal with a lean towards the Venus to be a little 'easier'. Smoothness in Venus is better than 7750 (but fairly close).
  3. Wow, talk about a bargain!
  4. Frickin awesome watch. Congratulations.
  5. I would take OP all day long. That AP is too big.
  6. Dang, I am blind now!
  7. Great watch! The rep 192 is a better looking watch than the gen 192 IMO. Great pictures.
  8. Great post! Thanks for sharing this. I will move this to the knowledge base after people get a chance to comment. -TB

  10. I hear ya! Time for a drink..
  11. Actually, its a PAM125. The 124 is the same face on a ss bracelet. Here is a pic of the gen: But, note that the case finishing is different. The entire case of the rep is polished. The gen has a polished bezel and a brushed body.
  12. Offshore, you beat me to it. Yes, thank you The Zigmeister!
  13. Hi The Zigmeister, It is an honor and a privilege that you are sharing your vast amout of watchmaking knowledge with us. Your posts are invaluable and are very much appreciated. I always like to reference your posts when deciding on a watch or after I have purchased one to learn more about it. Much of my watch knowledge has come from you and I thank you for that. I really appreciate what you have done.
  14. Welcome, glad you made it!
  15. There is no good rep of that watch. The only good IWC chrono out there is the GST.
  16. Klink is right. In the gen watches, it is used to regulate the time. You would adjust the swan neck regulator if the watch was running too fast or too slow (assuming nothing is wrong with the watch). In the reps, they are just for decoration.

  18. It looks gen to me based on the movement (although it is hard to see). There are people out there that can refinish dials for you, but I would suggest keeping it as-is in case you want to sell it. Refinishing the dial would decrease its value. You may be better off getting a new dial for it and keeping the old one.

  21. What he means by killing it is that it is now frozen at 12:00. In the replica, the 6:00 subdial is directly tied to the hour of the watch. So, at 2:00, the subdial shows 2:00. At 4:00, the subial shows 4:00, etc. In the genuine, the 6:00 subdial is used as an hour counter for the chronograph and thus is always at 12:00 unless the chronograph is being used. Many people freeze that sub-dial so that it appears to be part of the chronograph.
  22. Pinned this thread.
  23. Cool watch. Some people get overly-anal about quartz. They are great reliable movements which are extremely accurate. jkerouac is right on with his comments.
  24. In the suggestion box, there is a forum called 'tips'. That may be what you are looking for. Unfortunately right now there is not a lot there since the board has not been open long. You can ask questions in there too for advice. Also, there is a Knowledge Base which will eventually contain a lot of the more informative posts that people write. Let us know if that is not what you are looking for.
