  1. I don't think a US based store would be up for the consequences for taking someones watch: 1.) It is possible the idiot received the watch under false pretense of being a gen. Imagine the surprise. 2.) Bad publicity. 3.) Legal ramifications if the sales rep made a mistake. 4.) If the idiot has the gen on their wrist already and bolts as mentioned above.
  2. So I was at my favorite AD over the weekend. I am talking to my usual salesperson when this guy walks up to the Panerai display. He had his girlfriend in tow, whom I am guessing he was trying to impress. He proceeds to try on a PAM, and sits his YM Rep on the "pad" provided by the other sales rep. At this point I am arms length away from him and the YM. Within seconds I notice, flat/flush with bezel crystal, wrong date mag, and a choppy 21J movement. My sales rep catches me checking it out, and looks over as well. Looks back at me, smiles, and shakes head. Nothing is said, nothing needs to be. The girlfriend seems impressing he is looking at such an expensive watch. The AD's are not as dumb as you might think. Especially with the obvious low end stuff. Friendly reminder-- don't take a rep to the AD.
  3. I love how casual this appears, and even how haphazardly they handle some of the watches. Fun, very fun. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Semantics aside. Based on the title, this would give the haters a chance to chime in. I know if I hated polls, and saw this post, I would click thru to it. Consider this a social internet study.
  5. Beautiful... All of the above. As someone just getting into the Daytona's please forgive theses 2 noob questions: 1.) DW? Short for? I see DW always come up in reference to the "better" Daytona's. 2.) I get the impression Yuki has surpassed NDT in terms of the place to go. True/False? Thanks, and again, beautiful OP and all.
  6. Interesting. I have to say +1 @Freddy333. As I mentioned, they seem to have lost favor over the years, seemed most popular in the late 90's. I do see a higher frequency of polls over at the Geek. +1 to Ammandel judging by the 6 total votes at this time of writing, you may be on to something.
  7. As someone who has been online since the 1980's... BBS's first, then the internet. I am no stranger to seeing polls in forums. I have noticed some forums seem to have many, and others, like RWG, seem to have very few. In the last week, there has been an increase in polls. Good? Bad? Indifferent? My .02, I like them as long as they are on-topic or relevant to theme/subject matter of the forum. However, too many and they can seem like spam. Hmmmm... Chime in. Just curious what the current attitude toward polls is.
  8. I think it is great that Dluddy and By-Tor voted No. Goes to show how great this team is. To keep the conspiracy theorists away, it makes sense.
  9. Tip for listening for abused ears. Stethoscope. Your local auto parts store probably sells the car version.... A stethoscope with a solid metal rod attached to the end.
  10. I like that raffle idea!!!!
  11. Listen to it. Personally, there is a noticeable audible difference. At least to my ears.
  12. Darn it, now you just made me regret selling my 029 last week. Great photos Lani
  13. If I can surf on Oahu, and rent a Harley that would be most excellent. I was supposed to surf Maui in 2007 but did Witch's Rock Costa Rica instead.
