  1. This is not good. The site should block the bot crawls or add logic --> if the referring page is Google send them off to disney.com or something else. On a similar note I was looking for gen pics of PAM 111's and searched google for PAM 111.... The first hit was pam111.c__ a know rep deal. Ranked #1.
  2. As tool watches they have their place. From a military perspective they perform the function of non-reflective. How that translates to fashion and daily wear is, like watch design, is a personal choice.
  3. Interesting thoughts. I think we are quickly eroding into a 2 class society as the middle class slips to the bottom. That being said, human nature likes to differentiate itself. Like the feathers of a peacock, people will still want to show their status (legit or false representation). The cell phone is a good example. When the iPhone came out, it was a fashion and status symbol. Now, high school kids are running around with them. So how does a fashion conscience, status seeker, differentiate. Perhaps the car they drive. But wait! BMW now has approachable 1 series and lease deals. Hmmm, maybe a luxury watch. So, if you are into that world of human peacockery -- You flash your trendy cell phone wearing your PAM/Rolex/etc. after you have rolled up in your BMW wearing your Burberry scarf. I realize this is a generalization, and I live in a "metro"polotin city full of FADs (Fashion Addicted Dolts) my experience may be skewed. Some of us, myself included, are in it simply for our love of watches. As for Rolex, I agree some of the bling surprises me. However, maybe they need to adapt as well. Maybe Rolex needs a "1 Series, C Series" like BMW / Mercedes. Example: EXP I, no-date Sub, that is non-COSC and comes it a lower price point that they can make up in volume. Or on the flip side they can stick to their guns like Apple and keep prices up there since they think they know their customer base. Either that or I would love to see an explosion of Tudor's. Most people never heard of Tudor in the US, let alone the Rolex connection. (The VW to Audi if you will). Perhaps they can use that line to hook new customers. Good discussion. -Ronin
  4. I think we are on the same page actually. Overall, I agree on the first come first serve. And I think my other point was that "PM Sent" in the thread first, does not mean anything -- given cross-postings, or people like me who will just fire off a PM and not respond in the thread all the time. As long as you are up front in your post: "Supporters Only", "members >10 Posts" I think it is acceptable. Also, if someone sends a PM along the lines of "PP Loaded, ready to buy NOW" while the first guy to respond is looking for answers and more pics, I see no reason not to sell to the NOW guy -- within reason -- if the questions/requests are easily responded to -- stick with FIFO (First In First Out). The same applies IRL (In Real Life) when using something like craigslist.org or classifieds. I was selling some DJ equipment, and some of the "first" phone calls I received left uneasy feelings that I would be rolled or otherwise put out. Needless to say, I choose to trust my gut, and not deal with them. This is a good discussion... Civil . -Ronin
  5. Ahhh, GREAT Information. I almost used mine as the lab rat... Thanks again.
  6. I agree there has been some recent tread crapping, and as long it is not a SCAM-- if you don't have anything good to say, why say it. This is buyer beware, and again, as long as it is not someone trying to sell a Canal St rep for $$$, it is the buyers responsibility to research what they are buying. However, on the first come first serve. It depends. I have seen, and agree/support people who post "This is not a race to PM me first - I reserve the right to sell to who I believe is the best buyer". Furthermore, posting in the thread, PM sent, does not necessarily guarantee your place in line. I have purchased at least 4 watches by PMing but having never posted to the sales thread. Given a choice during a sale between a Platinum Member with 1000 posts and a noob non-supporter who PM'd 10 seconds before.... Sorry, but to protect myself I would choose the Platinum guy. Again, posting PM SENT in the thread does not mean someone else hasn't stealthily beat you to the draw. Finally, some even cross-post sales between RG and here. So I agree on the thread crapping, but politely think the seller reserves the right to sell to whomever he/she wishes. Thanks! -Ronin
  7. Wow, great value and classic good looks. -Ronin
  8. Couldn't agree more. Seems odd. -Ronin
  9. My first impression was she bought from a rep site. perfect-timing.biz ??? that immediately popped up some monkey flash game/ad. Bizzarro.... -Ronin
  10. Rubber Cement-- Good Idea, and if it gets on the outside of the bezel, it jut rubs right off and should not leave a mark. Still-- does anyone have advice or experience R&Ring the entire Bezel? Ziggy? Popping them in and out will probably expand the holes a bit and compress the 'plugs' a bit, possibly making the problem worse or 100% reliant on good adhesive. -Ronin
  11. I think this also applies to all the recent AeroMarine (Skyland, Fish, etc) series reps. I was planning on doing something similar, and although these bezels are a PITA to R&R, I still think the best course is to pop the bezel off and access them from back side. If I get around to doing it, I would try and peen them on the inside, and perhaps a dab of epoxy/JB weld. Loctite has been recommended before, but most Loctite formulas only cure in the absence of air ~ala threads. Your solution, however, is my backup plan, and a good one. -Ronin
  12. EB watches caught my eye in the 2009 Buyers guide. Something to be said for their clean almost vintage design. For $500 a Gen, I would go for it. -Ronin
  13. I can't say I like anything listed there. Is it me, or are the LUME Dots/Markers on those subs HUGE.... -Ronin
  14. Thank goodness you are overall, ok. Curious if you were wearing a watch-- and was subject to the "Airbag Pushing Watch up arm and filleting/peeling back skin on your forarm" Get well, I was beginning to miss your Avatar. ;-) -Ronin
  15. The 14060 parts are not interchangeable with a 16610 IIRC. Dial size is different, as is bezel. Case has lugs, etc. IIRC. HTH, -Ronin
  16. Nice project. The hands are a bit 'bright' for the dial. I have a similar issues on my 6536 project at the moment. Haven't had time to bake them. Keep up the good work. -Ronin
  17. Nice. I enjoy mine as well. Red & Black straps are fantastic on this watch. The only Breit's with 24mm lugs are the Super Avenger (SA), SOH, and Bentley models IIRC. -Ronin
  18. Interesting, it does not have the "square" second hand.... I wonder what version this is? I wonder if those are real screws in the bezel or plugs like in the recent verions. -Ronin
  19. Fantastic. I came close to buying one last year when I was doing heavy ADV Motorcycle touring. I settled for a SPOT GPS tracker instead. GREAT WATCH. -Ronin
  20. Thanks for sharing-- a good read. Welcome. -Ronin
  21. Actually, it is 22mm not 24. Only the SOH & Bentley are 24. -Ronin
  22. Usually, in these situations, the "lite" versions have the following lessor items: Asian movement non-saphire or differing crystal AR could be none or single -vs- in some cases double But the case is most likely the same, yes. YMMV -Ronin
  23. Finally got this away from my wife. IT IS MINE for the weekend. 222.
