  1. I curious how this all turns out... I've bought many pieces from A-Bay, Aspire, Paul, whatever he called himself and never had a problem. Last couple had quality control issues. You gotta be inticed by the prices!
  2. Great post! Simple question... Great responces... Fabulous recovery... Happy ending! That's why I love this place
  3. Holy [censored]! I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Mine launched but shoot did not deploy!
  4. Happy B-Day you old dog
  5. I've got an old Joshua gold plated sub case that has seen better days. I modded the crown lugs to perfection and now I am trying to remove all the plating from the nooks and crannies. It will be a perfect case if only I can get all the gold off. I know that amonia is an enemy of plating and now have the case soaking in the stuff. The case is stainless and will buff out nicely but the bezel looks like brass or copper. Any one have any experience with removing the stuff? Everyone is concerned with keeping the plating on and I'm trying to get rid of it lol

    5517

    Thanks Ubi
  7. Check out his pics...the fuzzy one with the back removed showing an out of focus ETA movement
  8. I'm going to pull the trigger on a 5517 (Joshua's) and have a question. I like to replace the tube on my Rollie reps with genuine and also gen crowns. What type of tube does the genuine 5517 have? Does it have the larger o-ring on the tube itself as newer verions?
  9. I wonder what the guy said to his wife? "honey...don't turn around...the rep anti-christ is behind us...let's get out of here!" Religion is a touchy subject. Some aspects of it turn my stomach. When you have an [censored] like that Benny Hinn conning people...some poor , to send his racket money and see him wearing a gold DayDate makes me really wonder if the world needs and enima. I hope I didnt offend anyone...
  10. Cobalt bit is the way to go. Drill speed is forgiving with these bits. Drill speed and cooling lubricant is very important Believe it or not...if your drill speed speed is correct for the size bit/material you are using, you could actually use HSS bits all day long without problems. Drilling/boring in steel is and art in itself in terms of machining. If you are drilling s/s without problems you are L U C K Y and keep repeating the same procedure! I'm going to search out some specs for drilling and post. Hope it will help
  11. I like the idea of "no PayPal" for noobs We are lucky to have access to our valued dealers and the thought of assholes screwing these guys really gets my goat Just my 2 cents
  12. DO it! You will learn all about the ETA 2836 and be able to disassemble and reassemble in your sleep. It will get pricey though... Step one...get a Bergoen screw driver set. The more expensive the better. The cheep sets on eBay are totally junk! Good luck!
  13. I feel a CRAZY SALE coming on
  14. My first purchase from Josh was a LV sub which I highly recomend. After some DIY mod's, smoothing out and polishing the band link ends, genuine tube and crown, and filing down the crown guards (jewlers files, 800 - 1000 grit sandpaper and lots of patience) I'm left with a question...the bezel. From what I've read, MBW has the only bezel that will accept a genuine bezel insert without any issues. I know that genuines have been used with Josh's bezels but filing and fussing and gluing are required to achive an acceptable fit. I wish that a bezel was available that would fit the rep case and also accept a genuine bezel ring. I have some machining skills but I'm not that good... Any thoughts from our experts?
  15. Very sorry for your loss...remember the good times you had with her.
  16. It's really great to see The Zigmeister posting
  17. If you are mechanically inclined than you should take the TZ Watch School course. I took it several years ago (it isnt cheap) and spent even more on tools. You would be surprised how your view on movement repair, cleaning and assembly changes. You learn how important proper lubrication is! The course opened another aspect of our hobby to me.
  18. Thanks Ubi!
  19. I've been surfing Ofrie's site for over an hour searching for a relpacement hand for a 28mm Unitas second hand and my eyeballs are going to pop Where the heck are they? They gotta have em!
  20. Ubi, I mean "show off" in a good way I look forward to your posts as does everyone else here
  21. I want to replace the second hand on my Luminor Marina (nine o'clock position) 6497. It is originaly from Paul and te second hand hole is horribly off-center. Am I corrct in assuming that it is 28mm? I'm not sure if the movement is ETA or Unitas (I'm a noob when it comes to Panerai) Thanks guys!
  22. Ubi, you are such a show-off!
  23. If you make a bunch you could have a C R A Z Y sale
  24. about a LV insert for a Joshua Sub?
  25. From someone that knows a little about these movements...LISTEN TO UBI, he's right! I've taken out dozens and dozens of crowns without a problem
