  1. You have outdone yourself Rob This information is HUGE
  2. That's a great idea! Why is this the first I'm hearing of this procedure? Thanks for the advice
  3. The hard part is done on my MBW 1680. I fitted a genuine case tube and crown and corrected the HUGE crown guards with about three hours of filing, sanding and polishing. Before I drill out the lugs I have a few questions. The genuine spring bars will not fit through the small rings that are attached on the inside of the MBW end link. They are actually appear to be the same in diameter as the end-link rings...drilling them would destroy them... What are my alternatives besides spending big bucks on a genuine 1680 band?
  4. You guys are the best Thanks!
  5. Hi guys, I'm in the process of getting together all the "stuff" I need to mod out my MBW 1680. I've got a genuine crown and crown tube, a genuine tropic on the way and gen spring bars. What size bit will I need to drill out the lugs and what size bit to enlarge the center-link? I know these bit sizes are somewhere in our archieves but I'm having trouble with the search links... Thanks Oh...and you guys were right...TTK takes forever and a day but when the "package" arrives...it's the "shizzle-mannizzle"
  6. Hello Gents! Will a MBW 1680 accept a genuine crown tube or will I have to re-tap to make the mod work?
  7. There are pro's and con's...some will say dropping that kind of dough on a rep is foolish and I have to agree with that but... I really love the gold day-date president! A new one is too pricey while a used one will yeild a floopy band with lots of play...basically the more you spend the nicer the watch. I bought a used President several years ago and spent 6,800.00 USD. I loved the watch but the band was extremely stretched. I sold the watch for roughly what I spent...I miss it I often consider Paul's all gold President. First and formost you really have to love the watch (which I do) and accept the fact that you are married to it for a long time. It is in no way a investment and the resale market is small...very small. I would mod the watch by adding a genuine tube and crown and possibly a genuine dial. By adding a genuine crown/ tube you eliminate the weakest leak point and you have a watch that would withstand swimming. I wonder what the clasp is made from...I believe my gen was a rose gold but I might be wrong... Another pro I consider is that I work on my own movements...ETA are great to work on and parts are abundant! No dealing with Rolex AD's and the outragous prices they charge. The only thing I would be leary of is Paul should the watch be confiscated by Customs. Paul's site states that he will re-ship if that happens but Paul is Paul...it's not like he's replacing a noob-mariner...you know what I'm getting at?
  8. What would go nice with my 1680 right about now is a little "Tony Lukes"
  9. Leave it to somebody from "Philly" to get to the bottom of things and sort'em out YO!
  10. Hi Niel, Any info yet on shipping to MM in Thorofare, NJ, USA????????????????
  11. I have the same combo and I think it looks fantastic It lasted two days because I absolutely hated how it felt on my wrist
  12. Paul carefully checks every watch himself before shipping...he has never had a single complaint... not! LOL
  13. Hi Niel, I love it...probably my next piece. Still patiently waiting for my 1680...
  14. If I'm not mistaken there is a small screw that must be loosened in order to release the stem on the Rolex movement...looks like the small screw closest to the stem. ( in your second photo) Good luck and keep us posted
  15. Good to hear your watch held up to 2 atm's Where did you find 65' in OH ? I have an aBay sub from Paul about three years old which was properly lubed with gen tube and crown that withstood 140fsw. My presure testing method consists of a sealed case (without movement) placed in my BC pocket, a Jersey roll off the boat and 25 minutes on the Stolt
  16. I've had many smooth transactions with Paul over the years. There are pro's and con's in dealing with him however... Pro's Large selection Quick email responce prior to payment Lightning fast shipping Super low prices Con's Super-hard to get an email responce if there is a problem with the item Quality control does not exsist I do however have a sub from him about four years old (when he was aBay) and it keeps better time than my gen... Good luck with your purchase!
  17. Could it be? Have we finally found the "perfect sub" The [censored] should be shot...
  18. Has anyone heard from Fliplocbuckle...is he posting elsewhere? Complete nut...but some funny stuff
  19. Rob, you bring this place to a higher level
  20. Didn't FlipLockBuckle post a tutorial on bezel attachment...using mortar?
  21. Why not an older version Daytona...with a "Lemania" manual winding movement? Freeze" the seconds at six. From what I understand the movement is very reliable.
  22. Ouch... Hope you have better luck than the rest of us. Read The Zigmeister's reviews...the movement is being asked to do what it wasn't designed to do.
  23. Yo Tucker... Many of us here were scammed at one time before discovering this great board. Chalk it up to experience and move on. Read, read and read...and read some more and learn. Stick with the dealers here...no more scamming...we promise!
