  1. Just saw it. Thanks for the tip. It's about what I figured it will cost and I think it is worth trying to get the best result
  2. I am looking for a movement for my gen 6542 case: And while I know that Rolex used modified 1030 movements and then 1035, 1065 and 1066 I am not clear about the date and GMT function. Will I be able to use a 1030 that was used in a no date no GMT version by adding these components? It does look pretty straight forward to my untrained eye Here a quick photo comparison of a plain 1030: and one with GMT function: How is the availability of these parts? Gentlemen your help is really appreciated.
  3. Hanging with my mom in the shade at the beach club to recover from yesterday's wine intake:
  4. S. you can always sent me the rep strap and I make you a strap just like it from the material of your choice. You buy me a beer or two next time I am in Munich and we call it even
  5. Wiesn: Do you actually live in the city of this wonderful event? If yes: I will be there next week and would love to buy you a drink and drool over your watch(es)... Let me know.
  6. Still a nice piece. just get a 6mm crown and it's correct and a cheaper solution
  7. Pete: WOW is all I can say. My AP DIver has no water problem whatsoever. Avoided several jellyfish successfully today in the fresh water in the SOuth of France:
  8. Took my mom to breakfast at the waterfront on Antibes for her birthday. She is wearing the PAM 001A I gave her for her last b-day only on "special occasions":
  9. I saw pics of the gen strap somewhere and it seems to have a lot rougher texture than the rep rubber - FYI
  10. It's nice and sunny here too, but I know it's not me bringing the sunshine after I had a stop over in Munich yesterday at 12 degrees celsius
  11. I know what you mean, the whole story with original drawings hidden in the basement sound too made up. Yes, landed in Nice yesterday and must have already consumed my first gallon of rose It's my mom's b-day on Thursday and I think I will take her to St.Tropez to some fancy place. Doing some work around the house and still hadn't had a chance for a on location wrist shot.
  12. And I am German on top of it BTW: U-Boat is the common German word for ANY submarine... Also seems nobody has a problem shelling out high 5-digits for a Kampfschwimmer Panerai
  13. Be careful: If you get the bracelet you will also have to buy the metal connectors to mount it. The ones in the bracelet are permanently attached:
  14. I am planing on removing all the branding from the case and have it bronze-plated. M. I agree: that whole story sounds fishy
  15. Today I played with this: And tomorrow I hop on a plane to the South of France wearing this: Vacation here I come
  16. Inspired by recent works from Daevildog and pbdad I had an idea for a U-Boat project. I found a RG member that sold me his U-42: It arrived yesterday and today I had some time (after several trip to the post office...) to start playing around with it. For now I just did the small stuff: new dial, age the hands and exchange the mineral crytsal for a solid 6mm version. The hard part, the case work I will do next week when taking breaks from sipping rose wine and eating cheese and pate at my mom's place in the South of France Here is what it looks like for now - I like it a lot better already:
  17. Yes, I just looked it up. There is one customer who managed to get gen spring bars in there. I am gonna order one and find out
  18. Would love to see if it fits the gen case. That would sure save me some money, gen bracelets are like $800+
  19. Just found it myself: 7206 Bracelet with 80 endlinks, now where can you find these.....?
  20. lAligoat: Thanks for the tip. Probably cheaper then the gen 116, but if I find one reasonably priced I might still go for it. Does anybody know which endlinks are the correct ones for the 6542 case?
