Yes, i surely don't want to change the CG... it's beautiful...
i think the shim at the lever side or the gasket at the tube side will do the trick well for the immediate fix
The lever does touch the crown... I just need it a tad tighter... and i hate finding it open in the middle of nowhere
M has a new batch ready... maybe one of those would be a good choice.
Anyone have a spare lever for sale?
Yes, the pin to the lever is a really nice action, although sometimes the lever ends up open
I will shim the inside face of the crown as FGD suggests for now and search for a less deeper dished crown for the long run.
Other than that... I so much love this watch!!
OK... I have this beautiful watch, but I want to tighten the lever to the crown a little more so it snaps in well...
The options available I think are (in order of preference):
1. move the tube out from the case until the desired distance is achieved
2. Get a thicker crown
3. File the underside of the CG to bring the lever closer to the crown face
4. Get a new CG
What do you guys suggest?
Thanks for the comments guys...
I take my hat off to BWS, the originator of this beautiful piece....
I've bought and sold a few watches with BWS, and it's always been a pleasure for me... albeit these little meetings always feel like a secret drug deal ...
I sit anxiously in my car... looking left and right... D springs into view... seemingly from nowhere, and we do the trade right there in the 7/11 parking lot
It's easy to buy a watch, but surely not easy to build one properly... This is why I love this hobby... I have only built/customized a few, but the joy in that far surpasses walking in and dropping a ton of cash on the table.
Just made the luckiest pickup of my rep life... a complete custom 5218-201A that just bleeds loveliness... Feels every bit like the real thing, sans the current price tag...
I just can't stop looking at it at all angles... feels like the first time again LOL
Now, I'd really like to know who the d1ckhead was who designed the strap changing system back then... Cuz he's fired!
Thanks bwhitesox for the lovely watch!
Love your collection and thanks for the great comparison
In the end... the rep is pretty damn good IMO, but surely there's nothing like the real thing... baby!
Good to know, I hadn't even looked at the gen yet, just thought these were super beautiful...
I just had a look at the gen pics... really nice, the movement is so detailed comparatively.
I wonder if I could get this one sterile from Puretime
I just saw these over at Puretime... They look so beautiful and well done.
They're touting that it took a year to put this style together, it's got a 50m water resistance, and the Ti is of "imported quality'
Has anyone received one of these yet?
And... look at the movement... there's been a new set of bridges done... and the beatrate is 21.6
I agree with you guys 100%
I've also owned many gens over the years, some have stayed, some have gone... some have been sold to fund reps!!! They really are THAT GOOD.
In the end... at least 75% of your money towards a gen goes into marketing, high price executives, sailboats, and rich & famous peoples' wrists... Sorry, but I don't really wanna fund their parties, I wanna fund my own party
I'm just trying to figure out what to build next LOL
Beautiful job M!!! I think the color of the tritium is perfect!
I am currently embarking on a few projects as well... Hope I can pull it off even half of what you've done here!!
Started out with a great watch... Became a strap addict and did some really kooky/crazy things with my addiction, but one thing needs to another... and eventually one needs more
Here's a little history... one year in the making... of my favorite piece. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks B!!! That's just what I needed to know before spending big money on a project...
Maybe I'll just put a 26A dial in it and get it PVDed... Maybe it will just sit in my drawer of parts
Designer watches are pretty crap, except maybe Gucci, Versace, Hermes, Bulgari, LV, Chanel, and Hublot...
Armani, HB, and the like... stay away, they might look good, but under the hood, it's all yukky stuff
The CG was installed upside down, although it's just as flat on the bottom.
The lever is right in the middle.
Were the older Panerais flat on both sides, or did they always follow the curve of the case where the CG is mounted?
