Greetings BT Your photo skills are second to none! (well, maybe Neil's ) Cheerio! Alex
  3. Always nice to read your reviews, my friend!!! Great pics and write up Cheerio Alex
  4. Blown away too...great technique but what amazes me is this kid's musicality... amazing! Nice find! Alex
  5. My (uneducated) guess is an MBW with an 'ubinsert' (the date is just a tad misaligned...but the font is excellent) ... how do I know...I have one just like that...(thanks to Randy ) In any case, (real uber-MBW or real rolex...- this is not in the rep category for sure-) a beautiful piece...the white 1680 is to my eyes nicer than the coveted red counterpart, just my .02! Cheers Alex
  6. The Zigmeister! amazing surgery you performed on this watch. Have to be honest, judging from the first picture I was not convinced of the outcome...but after reading the 'process' and looking at the mandatory wristshot...suffice to say, that was a jaw dropping moment. Congratulations. The original 5508 with no CG's is THE classic Bond sub, beautiful piece! Have a great 2007 Alex
  7. That is the best Rolex Navitimer I have seen!!!
  8. I buy only genuine watches...preferably genuine Polex made in Schnitzerland!
  9. In the wise words of By-Tor...most people surf the net for porn...we just look at watches....(your wife should be grateful... ) Cheers Alex
  10. Sorry for your loss Neil ... my thoughts and prayers to you and your loved ones Alex
  11. TT...THAT is a panerai I would buy...A BEAUTY... sells for $10000 (a la daytona) on Essentialwatches.com ...this is the description... THE ORIGINAL PROTOTYPE WAS INTENDED TO BE AN OFFICER'S DECK WATCH. IT WAS LAUNCHED WITH THE REST OF THE VENDOME COLLECTION IN 1997, WITH BLACK, WHITE OR BLUE DIALS, IN A TOTAL OF 400 PIECES FOR ALL VARIANTS. THE MARE NOSTRUM USED A HAND-WIND ETA 2801-2 WITH A CHRONOGRAPH MODULE FROM DUBOIS-DEPRAZ Still an ETA but
  12. Nice ad By-Tor...I know you are an Omega fan... Interestingly someone told me that during the movie...Mr Bond was asked if he wore an expensive watch like a Rolex and he replied "no, I wear an Omega"... Talk about product placement... ...funny thing is ...this is a prequel of the 007 series...and the character is tough, with an assassin like demeanor and attitude...just like Ian Fleming depicted him in the books...(where he invariably wore a Rolex Sub and drove a Bent) ...Daniel Craig commented on this on an interview (I think it was pbs) and after the word Rolex flew out of his mouth ... he gasped for air trying to bring the word back in Cheers Alex
  13. Great review and pictures BT!!! and well deserved award... Cheers Alex
  14. Congrats my friend! I'm warming up to Omegas...great looking watch... great aesthetics...a sportier look when compared to Rollies and Breits IMHO. I assume it has the new high beat 28.8 asian valjoux...I'll wait for your review! Cheers Alex
  15. Yep...for some reason people obsess about the hologram on the sticker...I remember wearing my gen datejust *(no sticker) and handing it over to a friend...the FIRST thing he looked for...was the sticker in the back. He asked about it and got the same answer... -Do you wear your new suits with the label stitched to the sleeve and the all the price tags hanging from the seams?- Cheers
  16. Thanks guys...! your opinions are always appreciated... @ Tribal...That is exactly right! I could not source a datewheel with a bolder font but I'm definitely in the lookout ...same with the insert... but as By Tor says this is one of THE vintages to have. @ By Tor...Thank you! your advice has always been spot on... and this has not been an exception Cheers! Alex
  17. Inspired by my good friend By-Tor (and in no way attempting to write a full review..) and other senior members ...I wanted to share with you some pictures of what I call the MBW 1665 'P' for Palpatine...Tommy is a true artiste and modded this watch with superb craftmanship. Thanks Tommy This is what was done Crown guards shaping New insert Dial aging (tritium look of markers) - Hands aging matching the dial markers Lugholes drilling Genuine springbars Genuine Tube/Crown Case aging... Here are some pictures... At home Front shots Profile... and the customary wristshot Thanks!
  18. ...good simple improvements...IMHO I think upgrading bezel inserts is one of the more noticeable mods for subs and the like...you can find decent inserts with decent pearls on the bay...I used RaymondLeejewelers'(Fl, US) inserts in the past...they are $17.95/each...just my 0.02
  19. The 'classic' version that Josh and Andrew sell (I have one) has a standard submariner case 41 x 11.5mm (as opposed to the 41x14 mm) so the case depth is not correct and is noticeable. ..what do I do? this: Sea Dweller Hope this helps
  20. J! Congratulations on a beautiful watch. The insert makes a huge difference. wear it well! @ alligoat...IMHO you don't need to get a genuine sub dial. The noobmariner's dial is absolutely crisp and spotless (under a 10xloupe)...a great dial to use...(as is the bracelet!)
  21. This thread should be permanently pinned!
  22. This is one of the funniest threads I read in a while... I'll buy a decade worth of RWG support asap!
