  1. Beautiful GMT B-T! my next purchase... I'm wearing my 21 year old gen this week (at least today) Cheers! Alex
  2. @ cornerstone. Can't agree with you more!!! One thing is to jeopardize your life...another is to seriously [censored] up the lives of your children by becoming just a picture on a frame for years to come... :yucky: This reminds me of yet another big brother talk I had with my little brother who has a 5 year old and rides a big bike...bones don't make good bumpers...they break much easily... @ slay. my sincere condolences... losing a friend no matter how, is tough and we all feel for you. Alex
  3. Oh...I'm seriously thinking buying this watch from brother Georgie ...this piece is a rare find based on the 2893 movement and has a beautiful finish. I was just pointing out what I believe are minor issues...the genuine GMT has longer GMT hand (it actually touches and slightly surpasses the minute markers on the dial); what changed throughout the years was the size of the triangle at the tip of the GMT hand (*very early models sported a very small triangle)...here's a picture of the genuine GMT master II for reference. Cheers! Alex
  4. I don't think it is an MBW per se...but a rare GMT with a real GMT movement like the ETA 2893...hence the cost. The only flaws I can see are the date font (too thin and square I think) and the length of the GMT hand (a bit on the short side)...but of course, you have a real gmt movement... I'm deciding deciding deciding... It is a beautiful piece nonetheless...one to really consider... (a must read I should say, is By-Tor's pinned review of the GMT II...still thinking ) Cheers Alex
  5. Let us know how it goes...as many will be on the same boat (me included...the Inge is my next watch ) Cheers Alex
  6. Can't get this thing off my wrist...
  7. Sub, The date font is a NON ISSUE...this is a 99% accurate and good looking watch ...I agree with you " was actually saving up to buy a gen, but now there is truly no need for me to do that anymore."...my grail watch this year was a gen SD...(I got a MBW 1665) ... then IWC Portugieser (the reps are very accurate...) and now this... Cheers Alex
  8. Congratulations!!! This is one good looking watch...99% spot on...!!! and my next rep (just contacted good'ol'Eddie!!!) Can you please let me know about the date font...the gen has the same font as the hours on the dial...not sure about the rep... Here's a pic of the gen Ingenieur...
  9. He could have said..."send Eddie a note and you'll get one like this one...but 20 times cheaper"...
  10. Congratulations again, a rare find and a beautiful watch...and of course, another classic write up and how-to by our friend By-Tor! Thank you!!! (my dremmel is spinning now)
  11. Impressive collection Bill...Everytime you wear or buy one...it's like giving a big, high up, flying middle finger to uncle Rollie ...and for that, hats off to you!!! Alex
  12. The gen is just like the rep and they are both wrong!!! Going back to the initial question...I'm in love with the simplicity of this...
  13. Never had a problem with any ETA based watches. Asia 7750 is another story...the life expentancy varies and is mostly luck of the draw for some...My experience with them was less than 1 week in both cases...that's why I'd never buy Asian 7750 based reps...(*though that IWC Portugieser line is soooo nice) Just my 2 cents... Alex
  14. It's Monday wrist check time again!!! And this one seems to be glued to my wrist....
  15. Exactly right! Expl1 gets 100% wrist time these days... Date font too thin and misaligned are the reasons why I never wear some watches. I shy away from chronos with Asian movements...2 dead out of 2...so fake on fake (non working chronos from factory or dead chronos after using the watch for a week is the same ) Massive CG's, bracelets and bezel inserts on subs can be fixed but misalignments and date wheels are a different story. Cheers Alex

    My Sub

Excellent piece... good date alignement and mag...not sure about the Cg's...they look better than other versions...probably the pearl is the giveaway...but not a flat pearl though. All in all, a great looking watch. Congratulations
  17. Hey runnynose...why don't you take a chill pill and play with your little toy-ty...? You want advice, be straight... you have no clue of what you want for your TT anyway.
  18. There is NO rolex authorized dealer on the face of this planet who would even consider do mods on a replica...(what else are you going to mod? a gen?) . And you are saying he wanted an 'arm and a leg' ???? I agree with the guys...9 posts and asking for modders...fishy (and a bad story teller) :yucky:
  19. in love again...I believed that the finish and attention to details of some Lange and IWC cannot be faithfully reproduced...you are proving me wrong...beautiful pictures. I'd still gladly buy a gen IWC for the horological value, design and craftmanship...but these pilot watches are gorgeous to look at... Alex
  20. excellent taste...those snowflake hands are sweet! A classic! Congratulations. Alex
