There's a seller in Viet Nam thats been selling "franken" reps on a lot of watches including the BP Fifty passing them off as gens. Here's a link to the last SM300 he sold. He sold a BP Fifty at the same time. The only thing gen is the movement. I had the opportunity to look at one at the last NAWCC meet and the 552 movement was a piece of crap. So we know there are reps of everything out there. Sadly, VN fakes are all over eBay selling as gens to people that don't take the time to learn about them. I was at a NAWCC mart recently and one member had one for sale at $2,500, the 165.014 back. It had a gen 552 movement and everything else was rep. I saw a "Gen" Rolex Orange Hand that appeared gen until I checked the SN. No such number existed. Another sad dealer. Frankly, I just don't think there is a market for a rep of more than probably a couple of hundred SM 300's as the current really stand out by their mistakes. Jim Jim

I collect Seamasters and at last count have 6 gens and three reps. I also love tuning fork watches. Here's a few: First generation Speedsonic followed by the Lobster band 2nd Generation Speedsonic: Here's a rep by King with nothing done to it except a mesh band from Taikanaut And last a gen SM Cosmic 2000 I'm still looking for a bezel insert for my 14755 SM 300. I know a guy in Seattle that can do it. He will need one for the casting correctness. I also regularly use a plating shop that does excellent work. $150 minimum to plate but that would include many pieces. Jim

I've dealt with King and the service is splendid. Four days to Seattle. Very quick emails as well. Also, the movements on my 42mm PO and SM300 GMT are 2836 ETA according to the specs I've read. Jim

Did one about 10 years ago with a gen 5513 Sub. The guy was a retired Bulova rep and wanted to show off his "humming Rolex" A 2182 3 o'clock stem position movement fit with some mods to the dial and hands, stem, etc. But all in all it wasn't as bad as fitting a VJ 72 to a DW case with all Rolex parts. I never touched a drill. The guy later had it changed back and sold the watch at a NAWCC mart with both movements. A Rolex collector bought it and had the 2182 movement put back in it. It actually looked pretty cool to see the Rolex sweeping. Here's a cool sweeper:

If you want smooth try an Omega f300hg, Accutron 214, 218, and a host of others with the tuning fork movement. One of my favorite watches is my Omega Speedsonic. A tuning fork Chronograph with all hands sweeping not clicking. I see NOS Titus Dive watches from time to time at incredible bargains. I just saw two sell on the Bay last week for under $800 in great running order. Probably one of the best buys on the market. Jim

I just picked up a 4th Gen P. O. from King. It was listed as powered by a 2824. I just popped it open and found a 2836. What's the general feeling on the two movements? Is one better than the other? I've got the 2836 in my 300M GMT from King and also a 2824 in other watches and both are performing well. The other interesting thing is that the clasp has the 45mm 4 lines on wording. I'm thinking the photo may be wrong. The Omega site doesn't show the clasp but I've always seen the 42mm without 4 lines. Jim

Well, for me it's time to close the book on this watch in a Black dial version. Angela has tried for well over to month to source the watch with the Black dial & correct hands & case to match the Blue dial she first sourced. She told me today she is giving up for now and will refund my money. Within minutes I received a PayPal notice with the full refund. So, I end up with a correct Blue dial. I know it's been frustrating for some on the board but I feel that if the correct watch is available Angela will eventually source it. Jim

@coolfire........I'd love to see some wrist shots of the brown dial. Is this the same watch as Jay is selling. He lists his at 12mm and timeshop lists 13.6mm. Just wondering...........

To update the Blue dial I received: spot on time and the power reserve is about 40 hours. I've worn it on and off for about 3 days. Jim

I just received my Blue dial from Angela. She stated it looked just like her photo and she is right! He valve is correctly placed, hand are correct, and the movement is a ETA 2824-2 with correct markings. The bracelet is pinned and is very tight. I needed my pin breaker and a long pin punch to reinstall the pins. They are sleeved in the center section and are tight after replacement. The date sets correctly and the movement has a light coat of oil. All in all one of the nicer watches to come out of China. Now all Angela needs to do is find an exact of this watch in Black. I filed a dispute as well just to protect myself. As I told Angela: "If you drop dead this is my only recourse!" She understood and has told me the blue ones are on the way to her from China. Jim

Angela just let me know that she is getting the Blue ones "for sure" and hasn't heard anything on the black ones yet. I wish I could get the fast response I get from her from my materials house (OFrei to name one). Jim

@Ryaku - How's the lume color? I received two blacks and shipped them back to Angela with all the same problems. I feel if she can't resolve our problems I believe she will refund quickly. She has WAY too much at stake here. She is very responsive and should follow through. If she can locate the correct factory they may have other watches........like that evasive SM300, 165.024. Jim
