  1. Here's an Accutron from the 70's that you don't see around: They're powered by a 218 tuning fork. Jim
  2. I'm interested in a correct case 42mm with an Orange numbers dial and black bezel. I have a 42mm ETA with gen hands and I do not wear it because the HE valve is not correctly placed higher than the 10 mark. This has really bothered me since I wore a gen 42. If we can get a correct case I'm in with any movement. Jim
  3. Monsieur T, Thanks for asking. What I finally have done is order a Black dial SMP Chrono from Chris. When I get it I'll measure the hands and then check the length of the hands that Omega is supplying for the new model number. Usually, and I mean not always, when Omega changes something in a model like hands they supply the "new" product for all models that they will fit; even the older models. A classic example is that the early case Seamasters came with the "lollipop" sweep hand as original but in 1961 they replaced it with the arrow sweep. It then became the correct hand. My rep thinks this is what will happen with these hands but is afraid that they might still have some shorter hands in stock and will supply them even on the new part number. So, the only way for me to be sure is to measure the hands. Stay tuned as I'm probably a month from getting the watch. Best, Jim
  4. That's the old case number. In fact, Frei has that case in stock. If you order hands using that number you will get the old shorter hands. I'm still looking for a new case number. Here are the model numbers with the longer minute and hour hand: 2225.80, 2925.80(rubber strap), 213.30.42.40.01.001 (Black dial). Yes, that is the longest Omega model number I've ever seen for a watch. Jim
  5. I want to replace the rep hands on the new black dial SMP Chrono with gen hands. I have the model number but can't get the case number. Does anyone have the case number for this watch: http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=2...&no_cache=1 I think that it is a 14mm minute hand but would like to be sure before I place my order since my materials house has to order from Omega and their rep doesn't have the case number. Thanks, Jim
  6. UPDATE - After doing a lot of checking on the "NEW" gen hands on the current models (2225.80, 2925.80) and the black dial with a model number of 213.30.42.40.01.001 right from the Omega website I find that the new hands are 14mm vs. 12.5mm for the older style. I knew the rep hands looked really short on the black dial. Now I'll see if I can just order the hour and minute hand as the rest of the hands are good. Jim
  7. Casual Diver Friday. I dug out an old one.
  8. Thanks for the detailed information. This is exactly what I need to know. I will order the gen hour and minute hands for the SMP300 Chrono. Jim
  9. Has anyone tried to fit gen Omega hands on an A7750? Jim
  10. What a fantastic review!! After re reading it I'm wondering if the shorter hour hand on the rep can be replaced with the gen hands or must the A-7750 be changed to an ETA? It's a small difference but noticeable to me. I can't attach a photo since I'm operating on a hotel computer but the following link has one: http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=2...&no_cache=1 Thanks again for a killer review. Jim
  11. Fireman Fred, You have one of Omegas best movements a 24 j, 552 from early 1962. They also made an earlier 17j 552. Jim
  12. I just had the gen on at an AD show (Foxes) in Seattle. It looks fantastic with a rubber strap. During the sale I got them down to $3,400 which is still too much. I'm seriously thinking about the rep. I'd love to hear comments from any rep owners since there isn't a review. Cheers, Jim
  13. I'm wearing mine and it's ticking away right on time. And it's gen I just took a good look at it and a gen mvt side by side. Jim To clarify I meant a gen ETA mvt. Jim
  14. I love my SM 300's 165.024 and 166.024 - no date and date. But, I've sure been wearing this one a lot lately:
  15. Google "how to remove watch pins from a bracelet" and something should come up. If I remember correctly Poor Mans Watch Forum has a tutorial on it for Seiko's. Jim
  16. I bought my IHS ETA from King. It's keeping time within +2 secs a day better than my gens. I received it in one week which is standard for King. It's a super rep and I really don't care about the stack. Jim
  17. I love the watch but wish they'd make the same quality rep with a black dial and insert. Jim
  18. I just got mine from King. Ordered last Wednesday and received on Saturday in Seattle.
  19. I spent about an hour with the Gen at one of the AD's. Honestly, I can't tell the hand stack unless it is passing the hour hand. When I got home mine had arrived from King. I truly cannot believe how accurate this rep is against the Gen. The bezel even clicks at 2 per 5 minute segment exactly like the gen. The finish on mine is excellent. The ETA movement is accurately marked and appears to be a real ETA SWISS. I was looking at a gen ETA on the bench when I compared the movements and they are identical. It's been running 44 hours right now and is 25 seconds slow. About the same as my Gen Omega SM300. I looked at all three models. IMO, the TT looks like a rep. The tale of the sale. They have one left (10) of the SS, all of the TT, and have sold 2 out of 3 Solids. Jim
  20. Send it back. It sounds like the date wheel is dragging on the back of the dial slowing the change down. This happened to me when I installed a Ubi date wheel and I had to adjust the clearance. Jim
