I just took a look at one other 1570 I've got with a loop and it's clear to me -- Davids movement is a copy. Everything is very machined on the gens. The stampings on Davids are too rough.
So, if a "Gen" ETA is +$100 which is cloned what is the market for a cloned 1570 or 3135. The real question on the 3135??
Is it adjusted to 5 positions on the clone??
Jim
here's a rotor shot of my Exp II 1570.
You're right on the stamping. It's too bold and deep compared to the gens.
Hm mm, so what I heard at a NAWCC meeting last fall may be correct. The movements are being repped.
David is offering the following:

I don't have a 1570 movement handy to compare the photo but would be very interested in a close review. Also, take a look at the datewheel font thickness.
The man is a master at 1:1 production.

Alejandro,
The inner holes can be reached. The band needs to be warm and you can firmly push one side in and then the other pin.
I just took one side on mine out and it took me 15 minutes to get it back in place.
I'll be doing it again as I'm putting together all the parts for a Swiss 7750 conversion with all gen hands, date wheel, crown and tube. I'm just waiting for the hands and date wheel.
After pricing the dial and comparing the rep vs gen the rep dial is fine.
Here's a couple shots of the watch with the rubber strap on the close holes. Please excuse the dust.
Jim
When you fit the strap on the fourth hole is there a gap between and strap and the watch?
I've got a small wrist. I think it looks just fine with the tight fit.
As Bob would say "go someplace else"
BTW, if you can buy wholesale in the US there are other options like: http://www.julesborel.com/loginfaila.htm
Jim
R,
I thought I saw a mention of "relume". You NEVER relume a gen dial. The patina is the prize.
Jim
in Seattle, still looking for Henry's off Broadway!
I've got the hands and date wheel on order. I want to make sure the parts are right before I give you the part numbers.
Omega in New Jersey gave me them but I want to make sure the hands are the longer hands. The date wheel should be right since it is black and the part number shows that code. All is on order from Switzerland and they just reopened after three weeks off.
Note that ALL the hands on the rep are too short. I didn't get firm pricing on the dial as I compared the rep with a gen and the rep looks good enough for me. I'm putting an ETA 7750 in so the gen hands will fit. If you don't only the hour/minute hands will fit the rep if I remember correctly.
I'll let you know as soon as I get the parts - probably late February. I've got a 22mm rubber strap on the watch and it looks great. I haven't had time to post pics but will do it within the next week.

Jim
TT,
Thank you for the heartfelt wishes. The best to you and all of the board from Seattle.
I remember that rush to move over on the week of March 14, 2006.
Because of people like you this Board is the leader in knowledge, class, and accuracy.
I wish you all the biggest, brightest, and best 2009!

Let me correct my comment on the prices. They are very fair. I just keep forgetting that the Pound now = $1.47.
$955.50 for that Chrono is a good price.
That's a Zodiac Cal 72 and has nothing to do with a VJ72. That being said it's a nice movement. I'm just getting to list a Zodiac Sea Wolf with a Cal 72 and it doesn't command those prices.
Jim
I just received the December 10 & 11 New York Auction catalogue. It's their usual 400+ pages of some rare and not so rare watches.
It's also online: http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog_asta...p;auctionid=210
This is the first test to see how good the watch economy is really doing compared to other collectibles.
Enjoy!
Jim
The one thing I can't get by are the short hands. The new models have longer hands and reps will need to have new hands. A gen HE valve wouldn't hurt either.
