  1. Congrats SD3 ... the deal is.. if it brings "YOU" joy and you derive satisfaction from it.. then that's all that matters... all the accolades are just icing on the cake !! .. weather it cost you 100.00 or 1000.00 the main thing is your the one that is happy with the time piece, be it replica or genuine.. I hope it brings you a lifetime of joy... now is the time to savour !!! Live Strong and Wear it Well
  2. Forbes had a large article months ago about how people do terrible things due to the fact that they can "hide" in cyber space.. it was more in depth than that but a growing concern at the time as sociologist were fearful of the ramifacations of the growing problem I guess their fears were a prophecy of sorts.. needless.. senseless ... for what ?? nothing will bring this child back or lessen the grief of her family.. hope we can learn something from this tragedy !!
  3. Just to add to this.. make sure the rotor is secure on the teeth.. one of mine was a little loose.. It "chimed" every time I brought my hand up ..
  4. there are a variety of screws for the HBB's// 2 different sizes for the bezel and different again for the case back .. just sprcify which you need I'm sure your collector will supply one..
  5. At least part of Friday will be spent with my 036 .. Ziggy lume
  6. may have one.. if it's what you need it's yours N/C.. gotta run back on line later today..
  7. Thank you BT.. but I'm still learning and playing with the settings .. I would like to get the detailed sharpness like your images.. I guess i have to manipulate it in photoshop..mmmm.. back to the drawing board..
  8. makes sense.. forgot that this is not a jewel like piece in appearance.. so the edge would be the only area that would need to be refined.. ok so nickel.. nickel is darker than polished SS,.. actually can look like "show chrome" ..mmmm ... this would have to be tested i guess by trial and error it's a good idea to mold it then resell it.. worst is.. to find plating that would match genuine..
  9. Ma bad.. not lost wax.. that is done from scratch.. been a while.. just casting and molding equipment would suffice for this piece.. it's the trimming and buffing that would take some time.. plating.. are you thinking of chromium ?.. if you are.. it would take a copper base then a nickel coat then the chrome.. very hard to find plating for this nowday's usually Arizona Texas.. it cost thousands of dollars to get rid of the HAZMAT asfter plating.. it will never evaporate.. you usually look in motorcycle mags for chomium plating services.. one place here closed up after they would have to pay 100,000.00 usd for 10- 55 gallon barrels of waste..
  10. anyone think of lost wax process jewelers use ? seems like brass would be easy to trim and work after the casting.. shoot a rubber mold.. cast it.. any jeweler with casting equipment can do this one..
  11. Wednesday Afternoon-Evening Thursday AM PM

  14. Mixing it up a little with IWC St.Exupery and Breitling Blue.. Thanks Again BT for getting this up early my schedule is more apropos to these hours.. @rbtk and DL nice colour on the Ti's guy's !!! Tuesday Evening ..fyi.. that's the Blue Hawaiin sky that's reflecting in the silver subs WEDNESDAY
  15. WD40 .. stands for - Water dispensing (formula 40)... good for dispensing moisture in older carburetors .. the silicone spray lubricants work well and don't attract as much dust (they are synethetic ).. found in automotive sections... it's what we use to keep the actions smooth on the cable rods at the gym.. it does not collagulate, as other lubricants do..
  16. Ray !!!!! Cool pics .. and great to see you back on track..... i like what you id with your signature .."ma man" ....
  17. I should be picking it up after the gym .. the pexi crystal may need replacing too .. couldn't make out if the mag was 2.5 for some reason .. my memory cannot find ever seeing your genuine Speedy... regardless.. way Cool !!
  18. I tried ordering that early last year and was told they don't ship to hawaii.. what's up with that ????? sheesh.. not like it's contraband..
  19. thank you coming from you .. I'll take it .. coming tomorrow.. copy of your signature.. It will really need a DW ... i think... can't wait.. that speedy .. subs don't look like the rep...
  20. The tale of two Explorers.. as rtk say's.. variety is the spice of life Monday equal time
  21. Devastating !!!.. saw the news on line and could not believe the numbers.... the shock was felt all the way to Korea and Thailand ?? I pray for the families who are left without word of their loved ones .... makes world conflict seem so unnecessary.. trivial ...
  22. brilliant !!! what a concept...
  23. Again.. very well stated jkerouac and scoobs.. I believe QC problems will alway's be with us .. as long as we "choose" to buy replications (which have come a long way) .. flaws will alway's be a part of the "game" .. intentional or not.. it has alway's been a belief of mine that flaws on reps are put there intentionally (for another topic) China reports inflation at an all time high.. seems like their catching up with the rest of the world .... Japan "used " to be known for "cheap" imitations too.. not any longer.. so the price of everything is rising in the world. I think the honesty behind non-sponsored reiviews and openess are best left alone... too much politics in an organized review .. when collaboration with collectors are involved ... we are transgressing... Not every one can review a piece like bytor... andreww ..... toad.... but then again we are not in the publishing business and the point of getting the community the information on a new replica comes down to contributing to the group and not a collector .... I was thinking this morning when i was watching the sun rise at the boat ramp...... of my evolution in this hobby.. at first I wasn't really concerned a whole lot in the spot on accuracy of the replica.. and ignorance was in fact bliss.. but as this "hobby" took hold of me and my interest in finding.... not the, "best "rep... but how to get it modded "into" the best rep. .. i found it more rewarding than just buying replications.. The free flowing thoughts and ideas of this Forum are what is great ... members learn collectors stregnths and weakness'.... i tend to stick with the 3 main "makers" ie. HBB..Graham ... Porsche flat 6 .... Chopard.. etc. I like to buy from collectors that sponsor genuine timepieces to the makers ..... Uncle jay .. your thoughts and efforts are very appreciated.. but IMO .. i think i would rather see the "amateaur status" rather than a media format... We contend for a miniscule part of the buying rep world .. but we take care of our own..and that's what makes this forum great for me...
  24. Hope everyones Mom had a great Day !! Sunday evening getting ready for the week.. Tag Link
  25. if the advice is not to "clean" your lens with acetone.. then that would probably mean it could strip the coat .. which if you "want to do" then there is no harm.. but to be on the safe side I'll wait for chief to advise on this one.. until then I think I'll stick with the metal polish and dremmel for my removal.. thanks R
