Ebel .. today

Ebel ....... Due to the Zenith El Primero movement in the genuine and the configuration of the dial and the size the maker found it problematic to copy the genuine exactly.. unlike the Chopard which uses the Swiss 7750 movement.. so I really thought it redundant to give a full write up other than to say the timepiece is stunning .. i have never seen anyone wearing an Ebel.. let alone heard of it before this.. so ignorance is bliss.. unless you plan on wearing to a watch convention .. I think it would be safe on the streets.. the quality is outstanding.. if it werent for the dial.. well .. weight.. left jab with this on and .. better than a roll of quarters... the rotor is nicely engraved .. well done.. the bridges seem to be engraved .. although machined .. very nice.. the crown and pushers tips are rubber.. the movement itself appears well serviced for out of the box.. but we'll see.. the bracelet looks linked but it does have screws.. be careful those end pieces do attach separatey.. but just screw out and reconnect.. I leave the intense reviews to Bytor... Pugs... Pix,..chrgod...... andrew (may not be his cup o tea though) ,.. and toad t. hope you enjoy the pics.. there are tons of details I left out.. bottom line .. you won't be dissapointed with this one..

You do not know how often i wonder or "Hope" that this project has not been abandoned !!!!! .. i do not wear my PR's and dream of a DW for these.. if I recall M.. this was my first communication with you on this board... about a correct Date font for these beauties... this has given .. me .. as we say in Hawaii... "Chicken Skin" ... (goose bumps). .. when.... When????? thanks R edit add ... actually I think this priject goes back to 06 .... You cannot imagine the shock and awe when i saw the pics just before I ran out of the house this morning .....

It wil depend upon how much power reserve you have in the mainspring.... at full reserve many reps can do close to or at 48 hours .. this is IMO the exception though.. if you have full reserve then like the rest of the members are saying something is problematic with your timepiece

not on point ... but curious .. the DW in the pic is for what movement ???? those are not the ones discussed for the seagul (last year) ?? thank you sssurfer lani

You can go all out or go far enough where the price does not approach a used genuine... Check this link if you want comparisons.. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=65876 .... the Dial to me is worth 222.00 usd .. Genuine from Ofrei Genuine dial is on the right .. rep dial on the left if jaukub is doing the crystal .. you will save there.. the genuine in the pics was 169.00 usd.. J's would be the same quality.. the crown and tube is a must .. for practical purposes as the rep crown is prone to failure.. the tube needs to be modded and glued in by someone who know what they are doing... but after this you won't have the common problems thay the rep parts will give you.. the bezel is good enough.. the genuine bezel insert is a fraction of a mm smaller ergo you will have spacing if you go that route.. the inserts on ebay are the same size as the genuine .. and thicker than the reps depth of the bezel.. so you will have to sand down the insert.. not an easy and short task... btw the rep pearl and the ebay insert pearl are not a part of the bezel as the genuine .... but the ebay pearl is better so I'm planning on using it for the rep insert.. the only difference in the hands are the lume.. the genuine hands will cost about 35 to 40 usd.. if you have the rep hands can be SL lumed .. as mine were to match the dial.. the pearl also needs to be relumed.. you can invest in a very affordable crystal press.. 30 usd.. and pop out the crystal yourself to send to Jakub .. I am going to do another UPO ... with the orange bezel insert and orange numerals.. and chieftang crystal.. it has already been AR'd and is actually better than the genuine.. Good luck.. all this info btw is by experience ... so i would advise you not to spend the money on an insert from ebay .. go with one of the mods coating runs for the crystal.. save on the hands... go with the dial and crown/tube .... if you are going with the genuine bezel .. you may as well buy a used genuine for a little more..

before being told it's a no no... i did it with my thumbs.. the 3717 is not a thick crystal.. light pressure popped it right out.. I just ordered a crystal press.. cheap .. but I also ordered another crystal (screw) press.. the reason.. the cheaper set from China has some very large nylon dies ... something the other quality press does not.. and it would cost more to buy the nylon dies seperately..

As chrgod states.. it's "simpler" to take the hands down to 5:30 instead of trying to determine am-pm .... for me it's become second nature.. people wonder .. "why" they have problems and the day wheel get's stuck half way through it's cycle.. and stay's there.. that could spoil your day..... you will hear all different thoughts,, 9pm to 3 am.. etc.. for me it's "KISS" ... (keep it simple stupid) ... be mindful .. the maker of the CD and Slevin.. does a good job on the crown .. make sure your all the way out to the setting position before proceding to set the hands. .. you may find that you are still in the DW position.. that would cause problems if the hands are in the restricted area..

In the "me" World we live in today.. people are so into self .. that it is becoming the norm for people to be apethitic.. but what you did restores faith in Mankind R. .... so know ath there are people in the World who give a $hit that you did what you did... Ya dun good man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****GGGGGGGGGG**

That's my mind set... i do it at 5:30... SOP.. becomes routine .. for me to alway's go to 5:30 @vric.. yes there is a link to dicussion on the winding of auto movements... try the search it's here somewhere ... been discussed numerous times...

sounds like the A7750"s rotor....... it is unquestionably LOUD ... if the movement is running then just put it on and let the auto winder do the rest.... you can find winders to put the watch on at night to keep the power reserve going.. wind via crown only if the movement stops..

Ziggy has explained the problems with over winding by hand.. it should be done only to "start" the power reserve in the mainspring .. and very slowly.. about 20 turns very gently, or just enough to start the movement and let the auto wind do the rest... if you are running the chrono .. it takes a lot of power so keep that in mind.. if your feeling a grinding when doing this you could have problems down the road.. or "slipping" if you feel comfortable with removing the case back .. then check to see if the rotor is loose,, or are you confusing "rattling" with the noise of the rotor turning ??? the A7750 until fully serviced is "LOUD"

Hey Woody.. this is the "ultimate" version of the 104.. still.. You cannot deny lello has the superior font on his DW's.. the rep's thicker font comes in distorted.. after swapping lellos dw the clarity is obvious...it must be the centering of the print (not to mention better font).. because the mag is the original rep one... no doubt in my mind it is the DW that brings out the best in the mag also.. the mag and crystal AR'd (single) so chieftangs mag could not be used.. however for this job it was not needed .. (saved me one) kruzer OEM crown.. the group buy from 2006 is paying off... and of course Ziggy's SL lume .. i cannot tell even with a loupe that the lume has been done over.. correct colour now .. and superb artistry "AGAIN" on Ziggy's part

Tuesday Ultimate.... Modded 104

I think there is one phrase that is heard in all languages in all parts of the world when "expectations" are not met... "Just wait until your Father get's home' ..... the wait was the worst part...

Most importantly never .. ever change the day-date wheel without first positioning the hands @5:30 either am or pm respective of your real time.. you will cause irreputable damage to the wheels if you have the hands otherwise.. the rotor on the A7750 is notorious for the noise and grinding.. with proper servicing this can be fixed.. but it will really do no harm if left alone.. I have my A7750 movements fully serviced .. and they run to par with the swiss 7750 after servicing.. it is a tempermental movement .. some have stopped when new and after restarting have been trouble free.. contact your collector and let him know the issues now..he or she should replace it if it is a problem try not to hand wind it as much as possible.. only to get it started and be careful to wind it slowly .. just enough for the mainspring to gain power then let the auto wind kick in.. another must do.. you could damge the movement if you continue to always charge the mainspring via the crown..
