  1. thank you IT. the AR is very faint.. the 'claim' is that a gen. was used.... to tell you the truth if the crystal did have heavy AR it would really take away from the "look" of the dial .. the dimensions of the numerals and sub dials really do "play" on the visual effects .. on the eye ... it appears to go in and out of a three d visual I really need to study the Photo sections by Pug and Jiro ...
  2. My B&M riviera just arrived today and I must say I was not expecting what came out of the box... I have nothing to compare it to as far as a genuine or a genuine pic... but it is a stunning watch .. up close and in person.. the recessed sub dials and the curve of the bezel .... the sharp lines of the Roman numerals and the fairly good lume out of the box add to the "detail" of this rep, after a Ziggy lume it should be fantastic .. because of the very thin detailed lines outside the lume ... the dial hinges on black/ash ... very unusual and appealing (again for "me") I like the look of the silver subs dials .. not overly silver...the bracelet is another eye catcher.. rounded .(resembles the curve of the UPO bracelet) and the triple clasp (like the VC) is another plus (for me) it is a heavy watch even without the bracelet ...as I say.. i am not doing a "review" just my personal view of this rep... so before anyone takes it apart .. let me enjoy it for at least a day... Here are my simple pics... thank you for taking a look Aloha, Lanikai
  3. this is true.. my collector is trying to procure new tabs for me and a better centered pearl .. the genuine pics do show a slight gap between the tabs and the bezel but my 5 at the 6 oclock is offcenter and the gap is too open on the left side of the tab as is the pearl tab ... he advised that I send the entire watch back .. but so that it is a win, win situation i requested he try the tabs first.. the makers are the ones that hold all the cards...
  4. Check out ebay ... loads of watch cases anywhere from single to 16 capacity travel case.
  5. This may be a totaly redundant post,.. but those depths are really reserved for the "elite" divers ... i haven't been deeper than 200 ft. about 66 meters so when I see even 300 meters .. it really goes over my head....so to speak
  6. please let me know if you can take anymore orders thanks Lanikai
  7. I have been overloaded with work and have not been around as much... but I agree with you 100%.. Human nature is (IMHO) that the general public are "takers" if they are given the opportunity ... when "non subscribing members" ask questions about their future "buy's" . we as a group answer with sound advise that saves them from scams and offers them the opportunity to make wise choices.. so again i voice my vote to allow new members a grace period to use this forum and then "offer' them the "choice" to SUBSCIBE at a nominal membership fee... how many reps have you bought and did not get what you thought you would .. well, we all pass that on .. which saves others $$$ ... If new mwmbers plan on a "hit and run" then why do we (for lack of a better term) need their patronage ? .. a newpaper cost 50 cents a day in Hawaii... if people subscribe to "home delivery" they get it for about half the price ... Yes, i am trying to "sell" this point .. but as you say without an alternative we will go on with the same members pulling the weight for the others who won't "help" out.... geez at least make it different degrees of memberships if anything..
  8. Congrats, Looking good... LIVE STRONG AND WEAR IT WELL
  9. If it's true that in some cases the genuines are used to replicate the watch ... the makers have to wait until the genuine comes out.. then take it apart for replication.. i don't believe this to be as simple as it seems ... as i'm sure they're entire work force is not put on each project i think it's important to remember that this is the "replica" business and Retail stores are not "waiting" for the manufacture of the new product ... and does not have a release date by the genuine manufacturer. at least that's my 2 cents ... KISS .. (keep it simple )
  10. i believe you are correct anton in your assumption ... I found it hard to take a Breightling genuine strap to be 65.00 usd without shipping.. but for what it's worth,.. none of the collectors offer the "genuine LOOKING" rubber straps so i went with this one... I cannot make too many trips to the certified dealer, my buddy's wife works there and i don't want Ben Bridge to start asking too many questions of her.. Japanese management frowns on a lot of things that Westerners take for granted. let me take some pics of the straps,.. sorry for all the dust .. Ilive next to diamond head by Waikiki and the crater creates a lot of dust .. drives me nuts
  11. http://myworld.ebay.com/tot_watchez/ This is the seller on Ebay that i got a black (claimed to be genuine) . rubber strap from 74.00 usd shipped I won a Blue rubber strap from the other seller on the bay for 46 or 49 usd and he stuck on a 18.00 usd postage to make up the difference in my winning bid... anyway , i'm happy with the strap .. email tot .. good luck
  12. wow.... I better stick with the UPO second hand only .. thanks TT
  13. please educate me to the "dead sub dials" ?? thanks lani
  14. Joshua, Perfect clones..UPO .. keeps the best time, 28k, and the lume out of the box is incredible .. watchsmith here couldn't tell it was a rep
  15. August 25 1st scheduled passenger service by airplane (Paris-London) the year of our Lord 1919 this is one part of History when your Rolex was made RL ...... 1919 thank you ... simple beauty The only portrait in which Napoleon cozens up to a time piece is an 1812 portrait of the then emperor in his study, where a wall clock, just hanging off his left shoulder, reads 4:00 a.m., certainly suggestive that he was conscious of the importance of the passing hours. With or without a Brequet time piece immediately accessible to him, Napoleon, as military strategist, knew that success in battle depended on both space and time.
  16. stick with the ocean wear ... UPO chrono ... Halloween colours sorry .. need to improve my photo skills
  17. So Borel is as established as the founders of watches ? that's a whole lot of HISTORY in that ONE TIME PIECE!!!! And it's safe to assume that the blue colour is as much tradition as identifying what screw it is ??
  18. WOW.... unbelievable .. thank you is that blue on the screws original or the patina? those hands ar exquisite and the simplicity of the movement.. did F.A. Jones invent the "needle" ? truely an artistic work of art that has never grown "old" through the ages..
  19. Faces that could launch a million ships...... for some reason that was very relaxing... artistic .. thanks
  20. As a Kid I had a facination with pocket watches ... nobody used them exept in the movies ie. Westerns ... maybe that's where it came from... but I would like to see your Pocket watches and whatever history- knowledge you have of them .. I believe it started in the 1600's .. The glory days of the pocket watch came in the 19th century. Watchmakers such as Ulysse Nardin, Minerva, Heuer, IWC, and many others became established in this period. The quality and craftsmanship was further refined during this era, as they were beginning to be produced on an industrial scale. The introduction of the crown winder was also introduced around this period. By the early 20th century things changed for the watchmakers, certificates were issued to those who created the best design and precision pocket watch. Unfortunately, we began to see their popularity rapidly fading as wristwatches were becoming more and more popular. Although pocket watches are not used as much today, the old antique pocket watch of years gone by played an important role for many centuries. **from "The History of Pocket Watches" thank you , Lanikai
  21. well Yes, that's a given .. none of my friends transplanted here from New York will ever be on time.. it's in the genes .. one of my buddies from New York keeps his cell phone with his New York pre-fix .. he say's he dosen't want anyone from New York to know he's living in hawaii cause New Yorkers are supposed to be miserable... if his friends found out he's not .. they would be really mad at him...
  22. What irritates me (people not wearing timepieces is not one) is some one wearing a watch; and are always habitually late to appointments.. weather it be business meetings or reservations for a meal.... or any planned and agreed upon "time" Why are you wearing an object to tell time if your not going to use It??? so you can be "fashionably" late ??... that should be left for large parties etc. .... some don't like to :"feel" anything on their wrist .. my brother being one ... At times if I am asked "what time do you have" I just stick out my wrist.. only because .. for some reason I don't feel like reciting the time... not so they can see what I'm wearing .. because if you aren't wearing a time peice . chronometer.. you really don't care anyway.. when I stayed out in the surf for 6 hours plus we could tell exactly what time it was by the Sun and the tide .. I used to find it funny to see someone surfing wearing a divers watch.. my thought used to be.."what.. not good enough to use the tides and Sun"
  23. Sulfuric acid works just as well,.. especially on the orings
  24. Yes, man was never meant to have the best of both worlds ... life would be too perfect
  25. I actually like the dial of the Breightling Evo Graphite dial... "maybe just one more"..(seems to be our mantra)
