Oh, that would be nice, but a bit out of my budget! No, I'm looking closely at the rep dials out there and trying to see which ones could be modded to a higher standard.
  2. You're on a roll, Red! I've been looking at getting a 'Sinn-ko' for a while, but that SOXA looks terrific. The Nanuq seal of approval is a big selling point, too! SM300 for Tuesday:
  3. Better yet, have the rep shipped directly to your hotel. Any decent seller won't charge you for express shipping from GZ to HK, and it should arrive in 1-2 days. Arrange it ahead of time with the front desk to make sure there's no confusion. Unless you're staying at the lowest of the low-budget flophouses, they should be able to easily accommodate your request. There's no shortage of things to see and do in Hong Kong. Start by taking the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui, exit, start walking. It's a great city!

I didn't know about it, either, until just a few weeks ago! I've been looking at a lot of Daytona dials lately...

Very rare, but legit as far as I know:

6263 or 6265, depending on the bezel. Dial looks OK, though I would prefer less shiny and less punched subdials. I'm guessing it's from DW's new batch?
  7. I think it looks great, and -shiny subdials aside- I believe that's one of DW's better 7750 dials. But if it's not for you, then that's that. Have you got a 1655? It's vintage, sporty, not a chrono, and orange. I hear it looks great with tiny bare feet.
  8. I agree with polaris. I love my reps and I love my gens, but these two worlds need to be kept apart. No amount of pop psychology will change what the other side thinks. Rep owners should not expect or seek admiration, respect, or even tolerance from gen owners. We have a hobby we enjoy, for reasons that are clear to us. We do not need to justify what we do, nor denigrate those who don't get it.
  9. J does great work. You won't be disappointed.
  10. I seem to have missed this thread back when it was still fresh... I was just in Puerto Princesa a couple of weeks ago. Very nice, but the resort I stayed at was more remote than I'd like. I've heard nothing but good things about El Nido, though it is a more expensive destination. Last year, I took a quick trip to Bohol, which was a nice balance between the isolation of PP and the crowded (but still amazing) beaches of Boracay. I live and work in the Makati area, so if any of you are passing through, do drop me a line and I'll buy you a drink. (Coke Light. In a can.)
  11. Fantastic work, and a meatball engraved on the caseback is going to make it extra special! I find that I love Pan-Am a lot more in death. Their in-flight service was terrible.
  12. donerix: Very nice for a 'bad' pic! woof*: I didn't realize your donor came on a Tropic strap. Don't throw it away! 082 for the weekend:
  13. Can you believe it's my first jubilee bracelet? I used to think it was only worn by old men and fancy-pants, so... I guess I'm one of those now!
  14. What, is it International Talk Like a Pirate Day already? Shiver me timbers, it's me first 1016 build, based off a Narikaa Explorer. Now on a cheapo jub, since the Yuki 7206 is heading to a different project:
  15. ST4: You could make a pretty good MK40 franken out of a cartel Triple Date Speedy. Last time I checked, the dial and hands could be easily ordered, and it would be a snap to fit them onto the rep's 7750. My dream Speedmaster is CK2915:
  16. This is my favorite part of your build. Fantastic work!
  17. Thanks! That was taken during a quick trip to Palawan a couple of weeks back.
  18. woof*: You should make that thing useful and tape a Casio to the caseback! Just one of those Explorer days for me:
  19. Heigh-ho, it's 2009 again, and I'm really liking this vintage Explorer rep I bought from Hont. Does anyone know if an aftermarket crystal will fit on this thing? And what's the best way of drilling lugho--OMG YOU GUYS, MICHAEL JACKSON JUST DIED!!!
  20. Happy 50th, B! When in doubt... Corvette. Yes, be THAT guy!
  21. Only on RWG could I spent this much on a build and end up thinking, "That's what I get for doing things on the cheap!"
  22. Not sure if you saw my thread from last week, but 589 (and, presumably, 605) is a no-go on a DW case.
  23. I suggested BL in a different thread, but someone in the UK said he's backed up with a waiting list of several months.
