  1. I think I mentioned this in a previous post. I walked into my watchsmith's, wearing the MBW 5512 that ChiMan modded a few months ago. One of the guys waiting -a big Rolex collector- did a double take, then asked if he could see it. I took it off, and he examined it closely for almost five minutes. I was worried he'd notice the stubby lugs or the smallish lugholes, but he seemed hypnotized by the 4-line gilt dial (by NDT)! Finally, he looked up at me, held out his wrist, and said, "I'll trade you my Triple-Six Sea-Dweller, and write a check for the difference." I had some friends there who knew what the watch was. They smiled, but I just stammered, "Er... It's, uh, not for sale." The guy kept looking at my watch, muttering expletives. More than once he said, "I'll write you the check right now. I'm serious." Eventually, I ended his agony and took the caseback off: SEARS ROEBUCK 2451. "SON OF A [censored]!"
  2. ebzen: Did you get it fixed? Looking good!
  3. Thanks, C! But are you sure you're looking at the right seller? It's a Russian Poljot-based rep that you can read about here.
  4. daniel: I assume both dials are from DW? As Valty noted, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better standard dial on the aftermarket than the one on the left. I prefer the subdial dishing and the hour markers on the right dial, but the left has the finer fonts and clearer printing.
  5. Likewise! C: I love the Bund 50 Fathoms look on that one!
  6. Feeling GMT envy... Speedy Sunday for me:
  7. I'm with the North Texan. See, I've been kicking myself ever since I missed dylan's sales listing for his VCO Deep Stream. Mark this down: January 20, 2012: The Day the Kicking Stopped! Incidentally, have you ever wondered -like I've wondered- why you haven't seen any shots of VCOs on the gray leather strap? I found out this evening. It's because that strap's a size-10 pain-in-the-neck to mount!
  8. Looks like someone's been smoking Black Menthols. Fantastic shot, asf!
  9. Beautiful, JJ! Every one of the new owners must be thrilled!
  10. Ronin: I'd gladly take that junky old V1 off your hands, if you were planning on donating it to the Salvation Army... Calling a mulligan on my earlier iPhone shot, and bringing the G9 back:
  11. Now that I have an iPhone, all of my wristshots will look like this from now on: Beautiful! Now I can throw my old Canon away.
  12. WOW! This is going to be a GMT build for the ages!
  13. How much for the one with the cubic zirconia case?
  14. I think the 7032 has long been the missing link in J's Tudor collection. It's about damned time! Now let's try to get that crystal situation sorted out...
  15. Wow, Frank... Dig that crazy coronet! Panerai Tuesday:
  16. Likewise, I've always wanted to visit Australia, and there's a bunch of rep guys there whom I'd love to meet. It's such a small country, that I'm sure it would no problem for all of us to meet in the middle. I'll let you know if I'm ever headed down there! (I'll disappoint everyone by bringing that white Steelfish I never wear.) Until then, GLWGTG!
  17. January 27 is my birthday. Quick, someone call Qantas and arrange a surprise for me! KB: Best of luck to your father. Lots of good guys going to the hospital these days...
  18. Maradona needs a watch on each wrist to combat his vertigo. His sense of balance hasn't been the same since the 1980s, when he was buried in snow for an extended period.
  19. seafoam: I saw someone with that exact Carrera this afternoon. Beautiful design. Hamilton Aqua-Date to start the week:
  20. To which you should have replied, "Ah, Ingersoll... Mickey Mouse! Steamboat Willie! Toot-toot!"
  21. Some of inGod's stock bears an uncanny resemblance to dials sold by NDT/NP. I haven't seen any commonalities with either Phong or Yuki.
