  1. My favorite Monkee. RIP Davy.
  2. Great work, CJ! Anyone who says you can't polish a turd just needs to polish harder.
  3. Bali, Bali very nice! Bali, Bali paradise! Plenty of fish and plenty of rice! High in mountain, Deep in valley, Very nice is Bali, Bali!
  4. From 10past, here is a S/N 3.9M. I think that's around the time when the Big Red dials started to appear. This is what I mean about the distance of the DAYTONA to the subdial, which is noted by Mazzariol.
  5. Thanks! Hmm... Ever think about Sea-Dweller on a Jubilee? ("Oh! Such a thing has never been done!")
  6. A little bend (invisible except from the most extreme angles) should give the minute hand enough clearance over the metal blocks.
  7. Late 70s to mid-80s? That's my guess, based on the font of "DAYTONA" and its distance to the hour subdial.
  8. Women's Rolexes on men will be the next big thing. You read it here first, so start ordering that 26mm DJ with diamonds!
  9. C'mon, Adeo... I count at least 11 watches in your list already! And as much as I love my Carrera, a movement as buggy and inefficient as the Cal.11 should disqualify it from any "10 Greatest" list. Unless you're arguing for the blue Monaco. In that case, Steve McQueen trumps all rational discourse. My biggest dispute with Mr. Luxo's list is his choice of the Santos (it's still a Tank derivative, and that's already named), and the ALS. I would replace them with a Seiko Astron and an '85 Swatch Jellyfish. But maybe I'm confused, since "Greatest" is such a nebulous adjective.
  10. Knowing Ubi, he probably found it while strolling through the woods. Because karma decreed it!
  11. That was my hypothesis back in 2010, and I'm extremely gratified (chuffed, even!) to see all of this proof. J is truly the Lord of the Stainless Steel Ring! Utterly stunning build, C. I get a thrill seeing that 1560 rotor in there, and I just KNEW that the 16xxx would be the most convincing 1016 impersonator out of all the DJs! I just wish my Mercedes hands were that nice. PM incoming...
  12. He opens himself up to the usual "WHERE'S IWC? WHERE'S SEIKO?! AARGGH!!!" criticisms, but I like his list a whole lot better than the one from Popular Mechanics last year. Y'know, "The 9 Most Important Watches in the World"? A refresher: For where would we be without expanding hands on our watches? Not so keen on the guy's website, though, which looks like it would be best viewed using Eudora.

    6263 Bezel

Looks like a genuine service bezel to me. Fonts and spacing all look good.
  14. That silver DW is something else, but I'm staying on the gold standard!
  15. I used an St2130 in one of my 1016 builds, before it was replaced by an older, slower-beating 2472. The Seagull was completely trouble free and boring. It's now powering my DJ franken.
  16. The great thing about reps is that you can do this sort of thing without having to WHAAAAAA???
  17. Classy PP, Gran! My 7032 hasn't been worn in a while. Not sure why...
  18. Simply stunning, C! By the way, your earlier effort continues to confound vintage Rolex collectors, When I let them in on the secret, they try to save face by saying, "Ah, I thought it felt a little light."
  19. A stunner (esp. the 2824), and far nicer than any off-the-shelf 1016 rep available.
  20. A sunny Sunday in this part of the world:
  21. I got Wakmann fever. It's drivin' me crazy! And for vintage rubber fetishists like me, behold the rarely seen Tropic with GOLD buckle. Ooh... ahh...
