  1. Thanks, R. Depending on how the light hits, the hands can either look gilt or steel!
  2. Sub on the "can't afford an Oyster" option:
  3. Was this for a flexible friend? Well done, C! I'm feeling that Pepsi thirst again...
  4. Wishing you a string of victories from this point on, Cats. You can beat this.
  5. Oh, B... Once you walk down this road, there's no going back!
  6. This is turning into a regular feature for me... Not my watch on the left (but a big thrill to finally see up close). On the right, the 6239 I actually wore today:
  7. I don't watch the Grammys nor much care for the music of Adam and the Five Maroons, but... I think you're right. Based on this picture, it looks like a 6239, and a silver dial would be very obvious from that angle and under those lights. Gift from John Mayer?
  8. Ugh... I've spoken to Steve a bunch of times, but always transacted with DW directly. Sympathies to those involved.
  9. Well, at that age you have to start with the basics. I imagine young Ubi Jr. is now scoping out an old Sub or Fifty Fathoms. asf: Thanks! It was a really tricky shot to take, as evidenced by the 20+ blurry ones I took... and a smashed headlight!
  10. I'm giving you a night call...
  11. I don't often do this, but indulge me. Not my watch:
  12. Superb! And good of you to drop by with that treasure, ubi!
  13. Thanks, guys, and thanks to automatico for the additional investigation! When I first got a cartel 7836 from Mary, my first instinct was to try attaching the clasp of an older rep 78360 to it. My watchsmith indulged me, but it wasn't a smart idea. The combination made the lower portion of the bracelet as stiff as a board! justlounging: I didn't notice much difference between the dimensions of the cartel and Yuki links. What did feel different was the quality of the steel, which seemed a bit better on the Yuki. That's just a gut reaction, though, as I didn't pry any links apart to see how well they bent. (Is the word I'm looking for "malleable", "ductile", or something else?)
  14. J: I'll take one! For delivery somewhere east-north-east of you.
  15. B: Oh, that bezel has pretty teeth, dear! VCO in B&W:
  16. I recently ordered some 6263 cases from DW, and each of them came with his new pushers. Here are the old ones, with too many dull teeth: And the new units: Pretty good, eh? Here's the bad news: The thread pitch is still wrong, so forget about using these on a gen-spec case, or using gen-spec pushers on a DW case!
  17. Why, oh why, can't DW make endlinks that nice? Great catch, thogaa!
  18. J&K Watch on eBay used to carry some, but I don't see any listed now. You might want to send them a message. Here's the thread where I compared one to a gen.
  19. You need to get up pretty early in the morning to put one over jmb! 6263 here:
  20. Other than the odd S.A.S Seamaster 300 from Vietnam, or custom-made Heuer chronograph, that is.
  21. Thanks, guys! It was a fun watch to photograph, and there was plenty to write about. In fact, I wrote about a couple of new Overseas models for a local watch magazine some months ago, and I only now realize that I got a few dates wrong in that article. Yikes! hackR: I knew that the previous VCO rep's screws were famously soft, so getting the croc strap on was not only a PITA but also a nerve-wracking experience. If I'd had more confidence in the threads, I would have tried driving the screws straight into the plastic bit. As it was, I sweated profusely every time I torqued one in and felt a bit of resistance: "Aah!! I've killed my VCO!" I really wondered whether I was making a huge mistake by putting it on, but the strap and bracelet screws turned out to be hardier than expected. The caseback screws, on the other hand, were about as solid as dum-dum bullets. As for movement accuracy, did you also get yours from Tony?
