  1. Nice new project J! Mine is still coming along, although slower than expected! I love that case! It's brilliant. Can't wait to see the aged dial! Keep us posted!
  2. Great! Now you've gone and done it! After much debate and struggle about Panerai watches, you have finally made me want to get one! Way to go! That's a great looking piece Raider! Enjoy!
  3. Very cool Philospher! Here's a couple more fun macro's: Shutter - 10 sec, Aperture F20 Shutter - 30 sec, Aperture F51 Shutter - 1/1.6 sec, Aperture F20
  4. Thanks! So far I love the lens! It is incredibly sharp. Just have to keep it on a tripod for the most part. Hard to keep my hands still enough not to cause the focus to go out! Here's a strange shot I took today of my Cartier. Not sure how I did this. This one was with out a tripod. Just playing around, holding above the watch. I saw a really cool little reflection on the top left corner so I tried to capture it. This was the result (absolutely no photoshop or other software editing!)
  5. My Rocket Dial Cartier Santos for today: By the way, absolutely no photoshop editing on that second shot. I am not sure how I did that. I was playing with my new macro, and somehow got that!
  6. It appears to be gone now I was wondering the same thing the other day
  7. Wow....now there's nature going totally wrong! That's messed up
  8. Yes, it is a lot of fun! I can't wait to start playing around with the light box and copy stand that I have at home with my lights and this lens!
  9. Congrats on the new watch! Looking forward to some wrist shots of that beauty!
  10. So i bought the Tamron SP AF 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro yesterday used. I must say, this is an outstanding lens. And I was mistaken again. It is specifically built for the Nikon AF-S system and it does have a built in auto focus motor. It works brilliantly with my D40. Very easy to use, and the auto/manual focus override is quite slick! I would highly recommend this lens to anyone who doesn't want to spend the $900 for the Nikkor 105mm. Here is a shot of the lens: Here are a few test shots. The first one is of my Omega SMP pearl. This shot was shot at F8 This second shot of the same subject was shot at F29 Huge difference to the Depth of Field! Here is a general shot of the top half of the dial. Obviously I should have cleaned the watch first, but I was too excited to start playing with the lens that I completely overlooked that idea!
  11. I like it! That's a great looking piece! And it definitely looks very reminiscent of the daytona, but in a good way.
  12. Woohoo! Almost time to send me my new Tudor!!
  13. I have a co-worker who owns a D3, and you are correct chief. At ISO 3200 or 6400 there is no comparison to the detail and clarity you can get from that full frame camera! It is just stunning!
  14. Here's a couple I took when I first got my original iPhone:
  15. My point Freddy is that you already have a very artistic eye and with a little practice with your new rig, you will be shooting some fantastic shots! You are already doing it and it has only been a few days!
  16. All these great photo threads remind me of my old Polaroid SX-70. I used to love shooting pictures with that camera. I miss it immensely and wish you could still buy the old TZ film that you could manipulate. Does anyone know if you can still buy film for these things? I bought some film on eBay a few years ago, but it was bad and it messed up my rollers Here's a couple of old shots of mine:
  17. Here is an amazing set of photos shot exclusively on an iPhone
  18. I think these two quotes are very appropriate here: "It's always better to spend your time and money on learning art and photography, not by spending it on more cameras." - Ken Rockwell "Buying a B
  19. Another new shot with the D40 and the 18mm - 55mm VR Lens
  20. My first wrist check with my new Nikon D40 - Ebel 1911 Discovery again today:
  21. Looks like I misread something somewhere. The Di line of lenses from Tamron will not autofocus with the D40, but since it is such a good price, and I would rather manually focus anyways, I am still going to get the lens. @The Philosopher - Please post pics with the 105 when you get it.
