Synthetic sapphire is code dealers use. It means glass ... And yes, all sapphire watch crystals are synthetic but in this case it is a commonly used phrase which means glass. Not sapphire.
This common NoobFactory DSSD comes in A21j, ETA Clone, Swiss ETA, and 3135 decoration clone movements.
Is an identical watch .. and you can not put ETA clones or ETA Swiss into an A21j watch ... the hands and dial are the ***wrong fitment***
edit: Oooh I see Trevor admits to mineral crystal in the A21j model, as well.
Maybe your bezel adjusting crown was cross-threaded at the factory, freezing it on place. Too bad the "dealer QC" could not catch something as obvious as a completely seized crown.
I posted recent buys and projects, and you told me I was worthless. I think that makes you the abuser, so stop crying like a baby. Man up, and face who you are.
I was wondering this myself. OP, was this a standard waterproof screw down crown for the bezel and if it was, did you loosen it before you tried to adjust the bezel.
My sister-in-law asked me point blank over the holiday table. Of course she is so maladjusted that no man (or woman) will have her and she's 45.
I was wearing my DSSD and said I would never drop 9 grand on a stainless steel watch. I think that was the right move, since my in-laws are famously cheap, and he asked to see it, in a good way.
Ok so a little digging reveals that this is an original US Navy watch, ca WWII, issued by the Bureau of Ships (BUSHIPS) to underwater demolition team operators (frogmen)
edit: thanks for the warning, Zigmeister.
With the case back and anti-magnetic cover removed its easy to see that the balance moves freely and the power from the crown is transferred to the winding gears but no power is stored in the spring. So probably a broken main spring.
When I get home I'll research the history of this piece. It's a mystery to me at the moment.
A21j hands are not compatible with Omega or ETA hands. The pinions on the gears are the wrong sizes. If you want to improve the watch, you will need to relume what you have.
Since your watch is not guaranteed to accept genuine parts, I can't say it will even take a gen tube and crown combo.
A quartz Navitimer replica at WatchEden is only 56 UKP ..... Why go through the trouble of converting what appears to be a replica with a "legal" dial on it, when you can get the replica in the first place.
Did I mention their Free Shipping option, as well
"Elabore" is French for "elaborate / decorated"
Anyone can easily see here that the movements are identical. ETA simply expends more effort to set the timing on one, than the other, by which I mean Elabore is timed in 3 positions, instead of the two positions for the Standard form. Timing in each position takes time and skill to execute.
SO what did we learn here? Elabore movements are Standard movements which has been more carefully timed, and decorated with pearlage.
Sometimes you must gently turn the crown as you pull it. Do not press that button too hard (deep) or you will unhook the workings of the keyless system.
